GAME 31 SET-UP #9/9 Tennessee (24-6/14-2 SEC), the top seed, will meet #19/19 Texas A&M (22-9/11-5 SEC), seeded fourth, on Saturday at 4 p.m. in an SEC Tournament semifinal game at The Arena at Gwinnett Center (10,309) in Duluth, Ga. ESPNU will televise the contest, with Cara Capuano and Nell Fortner calling the action. Sirius/XM Satellite Radio also will carry the game on Sirius 126 and XM 199. Tennessee met Texas A&M in Knoxville nine days ago on Feb. 28, and the Lady Vols posted an 82-72 victory over the Aggies on Senior Night to claim the 17th regular-season SEC championship in program history. The winner of Saturday’s game will advance to a 6 p.m. championship game matchup on Sunday vs. either No. 2 seed Kentucky or No. 3 Georgia, with ESPN2 televising the action at 6 p.m. Tennessee advanced to Saturday’s semifinal round with an 82-73 victory on Friday over No. 9 seed Florida, while Texas A&M moved on via a 61-52 triumph over No. 5 seed South Carolina. The Lady Vols enter Saturday’s game having won seven of their last eight contests, while the Aggies have dropped four of their last six. The Big Orange women have triumphed in 19 of their last 21 games vs. SEC foes, dating back to last season, including nine in a row at home and eight of the last 10 on the road. Tennessee was the SEC runner-up a year ago (27-9/12-4 SEC) and postseason tournament champion. The Lady Vols were picked to finish fourth this season by the media and fifth by the coaches. Tennessee is 481-72 (.869) all-time vs. schools who are current members of the SEC, including 332-46 (.878) in the regular season.
UT’S SEC TOURNEY HISTORY Tennessee enters the 2013 tournament semifinals with a 70-17 (.805) all-time record and 16 championships in the previous 33 years of the event. UT has finished second on five other occasions. The Big Orange women are 15-1 in SEC Tournament play since 2007-08, winning the past three trophies and four of the past five. Tennessee is 21-8 (.724) all-time in SEC Tournament semifinal games. The Lady Vols’ last loss in tourney play was a 78-58 decision by Auburn in the 2009
