BOLDER BRIDES with a fi nger on fashion’s hottest trends will know that multi-stone and cluster rings are all the rage in the celeb world. “For more traditional bridal clients, the band is where we are seeing more mixed shapes of stones,” says Ericka Weissman, diamond buyer at O.C. Tanner Jewelers. Take a page from the trends book, and treat yourself to a stack of mixed-shape wedding bands to accompany your engagement ring. For added flair, consider a flashy eternity band. Unlike a traditional wedding band with stones on the top, it features bling all the way around the ring, another symbol of love. “Many clients who want something different, or may not plan to be regularly wearing a traditional solitaire engagement ring, will go for a larger eternity band,” Weissman says. “Radiants in a bezel setting, or ovals and cushions are all very popular choices.”

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED what it takes to create your dream wedding floral landscape? The pros at Artisan Bloom have stunning design down to a science. While the team is well versed in all styles of floral design, brides seeking the most show-stopping florals in the state turn to Artisan Bloom for their signature “Artisan Style,” featuring lush, heirloom-style blooms layered with summer foliage in truly breathtaking designs. With their impressive team of designers, Artisan Bloom’s design capability is quite diverse, always delivered with the highest level of quality and craftsmanship. “We only source the best productWe are picky,” says owner and creative director Kellie Jackstien. Once curated and delivered, every stem is meticulously

cut, hydrated and allowed to open throughout the week to get them to the perfect stage of ‘open’ before they’re utilized in each unique design. Artisan’s floral arrangements and installations have quite the journey before reaching wedding day: processing, cleaning and preparing inventory like vases and candles, last-minute sourcing, designing, night installations and of course the wedding day setup and takedown. When combined with inspiration calls and day-of work, that’s over 430 labor hours per event. When producing 3-4 weddings per week, that’s a lot of hours. That’s a lot of Artisans. But with over 20 years of experience, the Artisan Bloom team is positioned to execute each event with professionalism and style.

KELLIE JACKSTIEN

OWNER AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Top Tips WHAT’S AHEAD: We’ve seen a shift in the last couple of years into bright, vibrant color— and we think a modern, monochrome wave is coming.

EXCITED ABOUT: Impressive installations are transforming venues into immersive floral experiences. With the right balance, these are turning into fabulous wedding-day focal points.

FRESH IDEAS: Your events should be magical, memorable and personal. Don’t waste your energy on DIY—hire a professional and spend your valuable time enjoying with your loved ones.

JOHANNA PAY OWNER & ARTISAN

Top Tips WHAT’S AHEAD: In addition to our signature sage bundles, the collection now includes sage wedding favors and bouquets thoughtfully designed to bring a natural beauty to your wedding day.

EXCITED ABOUT: Our new collection of wedding favors and bouquets! These new offerings are designed to set heartfelt intentions, clear old energies and enhance positive energy throughout your celebration.

FRESH IDEAS: Sage adds a powerful element to traditional wedding ceremonies, symbolizing blessings for the bride and the significance of the day. At a recent ceremony, the earthy aroma meandered through the crowd, connecting the couple to their guests. The officiant spoke about how the natural energy of the sage bundle serves to bless their union, creating a sanctuary of support for one another, emphasizing the couple’s bond and newly shared energy. It was truly magical.

SETTING A MEANINGFUL intention for your marriage is an essential fi rst step when planning a wedding. As you embark on this new journey, imagine grounding your ceremony in love, peace and purpose with a handcrafted holistic sage bundle. At Elements of Sage, owner and sage artisan Johanna Pay thoughtfully designs sage bundles to reflect the beauty of new beginnings. Her creations use locally and ethically sourced sage, herbs and wildflowers, ensuring sustainability with only natural components. “Alongside sage, blending additional components can help refi ne intentions. While sage burning represents renewal and the clearing away of old patterns,

other elements such as dried flowers are incorporated to enhance specific energies and embody warmth, happiness and health,” explains Pay. “Adding rose strengthens the heart chakra with love and unity, while lavender brings peace, calm and joy to comfort the union. Once we understand our clients’ motivations and intentions, our bundles provide a way for the couples to connect with nature, supporting their journey toward wellness and harmonious beginnings.” As you plan your special day, embracing an intention-setting sage ritual is a unique way to deepen your connection and enrich your celebration.

ONE-OF-A-KIND RECEPTION ENTERTAINMENT can be the cherry on top

of an already memorable occasion. It’s a surefire way to show appreciation to your guests for celebrating with you—and to create an unforgettable wedding experience they’ll buzz about for years to come.

SAY CHEESE (WITH INTENTION) A reception experience and a favor in one? Sign us up. Natalie Allsup-Edwards, founder of The Hand-Drawn Photo Booth, takes a moment of inspiration and turns it into a one-of-a-kind keepsake station for events of all kinds. With Natalie’s vision, The Hand Drawn photo booth delivers both reception entertainment and party favors of the most personalized fashion. From the classic fourpose photo strip to a full-body ‘prom’ portrait, each sitting produces an image capturing memories and artistic flair that add to the day’s guest book as well as the guest’s scrapbook. There is so much laughter and silliness in our ‘photo booth,’” Allsup-Edwards says. “There is an intimacy to it that you don’t get with traditional photo booths— it’s an interesting and unusual experience to share with your guests.”

MAGIC MOMENTS While guests are waiting for their meal or standing in a photo line, why not have the entertainment come to them? Doug Roy is a mentalist who loves to be in the middle of every party. What is a mentalist, you ask? According to Roy, he focuses on “simple tricks of the mind to inspire awe and amazement—no flashy tricks or pulling rabbits out of hats.” Roy’s brand of entertainment is not your typical staged “magic show,” nor does he aim to take away from the big day. Rather, he acts as an accent, to engage your guests when you can’t—often making for fantastic photo opps. “Before I approach guests, they are often on their phones or in their own worlds, not chatting with the people around them,” Roy

BRING IN THE BAND Utah is home to some of the most talented event entertainers around. More specifically, band agency Utah Live Bands represents more than 50 high-level bands and entertainment groups who add a touch of luxury and musical energy to any wedding, rehearsal dinner or shower. “We are very well connected,” says owner Michael Tobian. “We are an organization run by musicians, so we know how music and crowds work. We know the theory and can speak intelligently on it. We put bands together that will make you forever celebrities in the memories of your wedding guests.”

Whether your event calls for an elegant ceremony quartet, a crooning cocktail combo or the ever-popular reception party band, Utah Live Bands represents the highest level of talent in Utah and beyond, and they have the know-how to get your guests in that celebratory mood. Tobian’s advice for a successful party? Trust your entertainers. “The more flexibility you can give the band, the better,” he says. “Of course we want to know your preferences and favorite songs, but I highly recommend clients give the band the wiggle room to read the crowd, create medleys and mashups and let the music flow.” Making your event as seamless as possible is also high on the priority list. Planners love a simple timeline, and a company like Utah Live Bands is a top choice simply because alongside providing topnotch entertainment, they also have the capabilities to set up stages, audiovisual and lighting for the perfect performance.

MAKE YOUR WEDDING PLAYLIST One of Utah’s Top DJs weighs in on crowd favorites to include on your wedding jam list. DJ Cooper Brown: “GIMME! GIMME! GIMME!” BY ABBA “There are many remixes of this song that add a modern 2025 feel to it, so you can play it between hip hop and pop songs.” “PARTY UP” BY DMX I typically play this song later in the night when the younger crowd is rocking the dance floor. “UNWRITTEN” BY NATASHA BEDINGFIELD This song isn’t overplayed and will create positive vibes as everyone chants the chorus. Talk about a nostalgic pop anthem! “I LOVE IT” BY ICONNA POP I love this song because the first verse is instantly recognizable and it naturally transforms people into the best karaoke version of themselves. “UPTOWN GIRL” BY BILLY JOEL This is one of my favorite ’80s songs for the grandparents, parents and more.

shares. “After I leave, everyone is always discussing. It’s a catalyst for social engagement, and I love creating a dynamic where guests are all interacting with each other.” For his grand exit at the end of the evening, Roy performs a special reading for the couple, often highlighting their love story, most romantic moments and compatibility. Now that’s weddingday magic!

REAL WEDDINGS

Emily & Meg VICTORY RANCH, KAMAS SEPTEMBER 15 Planning & Design by GATHERIST Photographs by HEATHER NAN

THE COUPLE College hockey teammates-turned-lovers, Bostonite Emily and Midwest-hailing Meg made the leap from friends to girlfriends two years after graduation. Three years after that, Emily planned a surprise sunset proposal at a family home in Wisconsin over Independence Day weekend. Meg returned the gesture with a post-golf engagement ring later that summer at Kamas’s Victory Ranch, which would later become the setting for their marriage vows.

THE WEDDING The couple decided they wanted to show off their new home state, so they invited nearly two hundred of their loved ones to meet in Kamas for an elegant and organic outdoor wedding nodding to Utah’s mountain landscapes. Stunning textural white florals teamed with thick greenery and a quaint pergola for a setup that perfectly blended with the course, while the bridal party’s green and burnt-orange attire echoed the hues of a mountain sunset. Linens detailed with a subtly topographic grain further echoed Utah’s geography. For their ceremony, both brides wore simple crepe gowns purchased in their hometowns. Emily wore a sleek one-shoulder number and rhinestone belt, while Meg donned an elegant ruched off-the-shoulder look. Rather than traditional heels, the pair wore matching Jimmy Choo sneakers to help them bust a move later in the evening. Their hand-written vows were officiated by a college friend and teammate, and were accompanied by special readings. “We selected readings that spoke more to the gay experience,” shares Meg. “It was important to us to make things tastefully intentional and authentic to us as a couple.”

THE PARTY After the ceremony, guests flocked to a custom-constructed pergola for an upscale family-style dinner of miso marinated cod (a favorite of the couple’s), filet mignon and pasta, with a s’mores station and mini dessert bar to follow. At the bar, Emily and Meg paid homage to their love of skiing with green, blue and black slope-grade inspired cocktails named after their favorite runs at Deer Valley and Loon Mountain resorts. In the clubhouse, Metro Music Club led all the guests as they

52 u t a h b r i d e a n d g r o o m . c o m

grooved for hours on the intimate dance floor and cheered the newlyweds on in a special choreographed first dance. Rather than hosting a rehearsal dinner the night before the main event, Emily and Meg broke from tradition and opted for a blowout goodbye party instead. Guests reconvened at Victory Ranch the day following the wedding for pickleball and a pool party. Then the couple, clad in stylish white suits, met their friends and family at Kimball Terrace for a country music-backed farewell dinner and dancing. Alongside a funfilled dinner catered by Culinary Crafts, the brides honored their mothers with curated wine selections as the signature beverages.

THE HONEYMOON After the wedding weekend, the couple had a ‘mini-moon’ in Park City, before embarking on a three-week New Zealand adventure a year later.

Jane & Thomas PRIVATE RESIDENCE, MIDWAY AUGUST 12 Planning & Design by L A FÊTE FLORAL & EVENTS Photographs by MIKKI PL AT T

THE COUPLE Jane and Thomas’s love story began with a meet-cute in elementary school, continuing all the way to “I Do” many years later. In adulthood, in the same finance program at the University of Utah, the spark officially began to grow. Jane told Thomas if he were to propose, she wanted to be surprised. Around Easter 2021, Thomas invited her on a special date to Montage Deer Valley, where she predicted he would propose. But prior to the dinner date, the couple had a quiet afternoon participating in Easter activities with Thomas’s family. While counting Easter eggs, an unsuspecting Jane felt a tap on her shoulder, and turned to find Thomas on one knee. Delighted to have gotten her surprise proposal, she said an enthusiastic “yes.”

THE WEDDING Following a sealing ceremony at the Draper LDS temple, the party moved to Jane’s family cabin in Midway. “[The cabin] is where we went on many of our dates, and where my parents got married,” says Jane, describing the sentimental venue. Jane walked down the aisle in a puff-sleeved Sarah Seven gown from Frankie Jane Couture Bridal, accented by a pearl-studded veil, pearl choker and blue heels. The ring ceremony was officiated by Thomas’s former rugby coach, flanked by a large bridal party, with each bridesmaid clad in a colorful floral gown. A disco garden theme and a lively color palette drove the day’s design, stemming from Jane’s love of the color orange. “I just wanted bright, fun summer colors,” the bride says. Brilliantly-hued bohemian lanterns dangled above vintage lounge furniture and a mix of yellow and blue-striped tables, each topped with a color-bursting bouquet and bounty of fruit. Nearby, party-ready rainbow fringe and disco balls floated over a classic checkered dance floor, where Metro Music Club kept the dance floor moving with classic covers for the first dance and beyond. Come dessert, Thomas and Jane dove into a funfetti cake and a rugby-themed groom’s cake. They made their exit through a cloud of sparklers, on their way to a Laguna Beach honeymoon.

REAL WEDDINGS

Anna & Wesley THE COUPLE High school sweethearts Anna and Wesley reconnected later in life, while each on a visit home for their siblings’ graduations. Following seven years of dating bliss (plus three years of long distance), Wesley began to hatch a plan for a surprise proposal. On a Jackson Hole anniversary trip, he asked Anna to join him for a morning hike and fishing trip. “I was caught by complete surprise when he got down on one knee with the sunrise pouring over the Tetons behind us,” says Anna.

THE WEDDING Anna’s parents call Park City home, and the allure of Stein Eriksen Lodge drew this couple in with scenic vistas and the romantic warmth of its classic ski hotel atmosphere—perfect for their cozy winter wedding. A black-tie affair inspired by Dutch Masters paintings, every vignette was adorned with rich pink, red and mauve florals, beginning with the ceremony altar. Twin floral pillars pulled shades from an alpine sunset, all nestled against spindling dried foliage, allowing the installation to blend with and celebrate the scenic backdrop off the Stein patio. French-blue gowned bridesmaids carried petite posy bouquets, while warmed by elegant fur wraps. Anna arrived on scene in the Gables gown by Australian designer Georgia Young, smitten with the flowing fabric and asymmetrical design. Custom teardrop earrings by Shay Fox Jewelry complemented an heirloom sapphire bracelet belonging to Anna’s grandmother. She and Wesley were married by Reverend Elizabeth McVicker of the Park City Community Church during a ceremony filled with special bible readings and a unity braid now on display in the couple’s home. Once indoors, the palette darkened, drawing from the still lifes that inspired Anna’s wedding vision. Candles across every surface complemented the cozy, warm wood interior of the lodge, and bespoke chandeliers delivered elegance and festivity in honor of the New Year’s Eve wedding date.

THE PARTY After dining on a curated menu featuring sea bass and bison, 175 guests hit the dance floor, rocking alongside Gold Standard Music and DJ, who kept the party going well past midnight. Guests performed surprise covers of favorite songs, and the newlyweds shared their first dance to a classic Andy Williams tune, “Love is a Many Splendored Thing.” Just before cutting into their champagne and apricot cake, the couple shared handmade Christmas Crackers with their guests. These gifts from the bride honor a longtime family tradition, and everyone cracked them together in celebration of the winter holiday. THE HONEYMOON Little Dix Bay in the British Virgin Islands hosted Anna and Wesley on their post-nuptial getaway.

Washington, he got down on one knee at the picturesque Lake Serene, where the sound of epically crashing snow melt applauded Claire’s exuberant ‘yes.’

THE WEDDING Informed by their love of mountain views, Claire and Sam tied the knot at River Bottoms Ranch, just minutes from Claire’s parent’s home in Deer Crest. Working with Michelle Leo Events, the couple crafted a one-of-a-kind event design they dubbed “mountain chic.” Claire’s favorite green hues made appearances in bridesmaid’s gowns, table linens, paper suites and more, acting as a landscape-inspired foundation for floral arrangements popping with blue and orange blooms. Florals lined both aisle and altar, welcoming Claire’s wedding day debut in a mermaid-cut, glitter-encrusted Pronovias gown, while Sam dressed in a navy blue Armani suit. Sam’s sister officiated an emotional ceremony, accented with readings by close friends and Jewish traditions in honor of Sam’s heritage. In the venue’s stunning indoor-outdoor reception space, each guest was greeted with a whimsical charger and elegant orange orchid marking their seat. A raw bar and passed hors d’oeuvres kicked off the party, as the bar served custom cocktails: Sam’s “River Bottoms-Up” Negroni and the “Un Campari-ble Claire.”

THE PARTY Following dinner (complete with a classic Utah-inspired menu) came an evening packed with music by Groove Merchants. Sam and Claire showed off their dance lesson skills to “I Found You” by Alabama Shakes, and no Jewish-heritage wedding is complete without a resounding Hora. “With the blur of people and everyone smiling in celebration of our wedding, that Hora was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done,” Sam says. THE HONEYMOON A few days after their mountain nuptials, Sam and Claire set off on yet another adventure to a scuba getaway in Fiji, followed by a ryokan retreat in Japan.

REAL WEDDINGS

Katie & Brian PENDRY PARK CITY FEBRUARY 24 Planning & Design by FUSE WEDDINGS AND EVENTS Photographs by HEATHER NAN

THE COUPLE Soon after moving to Utah with her son, Katie met Brian on a dating app. After a few years of phone calls, first dates and falling in love, Katie was headed to Brian’s house for a relaxed evening of comfort and Thai food. To her surprise, she arrived to find Brian on one knee in the kitchen, playing their favorite George Strait song as he popped the question. THE WEDDING “The Pendry is totally cool and totally us,” says Katie of their venue. “A little minimalist, a little fancy and a lot of fun.” For their ceremony, glistening gold chairs lined Pendry’s modern ballroom, leading to a fireplace altar flanked by cascading white florals for an elegant, contemporary look. The modern minimal design continued onto candlelit, gold-edged reception tables, each with towering table arrangements dripping with orchids. Custom draping and chandeliers transformed the ballroom into an exquisite reception space. Accompanied by her father, Katie walked down the aisle in a strapless Kelly Faetanini gown, featuring sheer back paneling and buttons from shoulder to hem. Her accessories flawlessly customized her bridal ensemble, including a pearl-lined veil, matching Jimmy Choo platforms and edgy mismatched Swarovski and pearl earrings. At the end of the aisle, Brian waited in a sleek navyand-black Hugo Boss suit. Brian’s daughter Paris and Katie’s son Blake acted as ring bearers when the time came, symbolizing the creation of their new family.

THE PARTY At the reception, guests enjoyed a dinner of beef tenderloin and salmon, with fresh salad and gold-leaf macarons bookending the main course. After the ceremony, Katie changed into a gold-and-pearl-dusted mini dress by Alice + Olivia, while the bar dished out “McCoy Mules,” and Maryland-based DJ WHITE spun music effortlessly for the dance floor. The couple performed their first dance to the same tune that accompanied their engagement: “Give It All We Got Tonight” by George Strait. Katie danced with her

father to Alan Jackson’s “You’ll Always Be My Baby,” and all mothers and sons in attendance joined for a dance to “Thought You Should Know” by Morgan Wallen.

THE HONEYMOON After the ski vacation festivities, the happy couple embarked on a honeymoon to Aruba. “We are already planning a trip back!”

Cima & Paymon THE GRAND AMERICA HOTEL, SALT LAKE CITY SEPTEMBER 2 Planning & Design by HOOPES EVENTS Photographs by NICOLE ASTON

THE COUPLE Cima and Paymon met by chance when they both picked up pharmacy shifts at their local hospital, where they each caught the other’s eye but at the time weren’t more than acquaintances. Later, the pair reconnected after discovering that their brothers were good friends. Acting as the perfect wingmen, those brothers brought the two lovebirds together, and the rest was history. After a couple years of dating, Paymon invited Cima to a “work dinner” at Red Butte Garden. Spoiler alert: His invitation was really a ruse for a beautiful garden proposal. Surprised but elated, Cima said “yes.”

THE WEDDING Fixed on an elegant and princess-worthy event, Cima selected the stunning grounds and ballrooms of The Grand America Hotel as the setting for her early September wedding. The festivities began outdoors in the Grand’s gardens for a traditional Persian wedding ceremony. Dressed in a shining, form-fitted gown with draping off-shoulder sleeves, Cima joined her groom-to-be (clad in a black tuxedo and white-accented bow tie) at their wedding table, known as a sofreh aghd, piled high with symbolic items of their life together. Framed by a bursting arch of white and blush blooms, mothers and other family members sprinkled sugar over the couple to welcome a life of sweetness. The party moved indoors to the resplendent ballrooms of the classic hotel, where a tried-and-true palette of white, gold and rosy pink welcomed guests to the reception. The wedding party dined on steak, salmon, red velvet cake and a pastry bar, all catered by The Grand, before hitting the dance floor. Led by Persian-American DeeJay Al, guests danced long into the night to a playlist of perfectly mixed dance hits and Persian classics. From David Guetta and “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” to “Faghat Ba To Eshgham” by Shadmehr, every musical moment had the party stomping to the beat. To wrap up the celebrations, Cima and Paymon entertained with a traditional knife dance before their cake cutting and the crowd favorite gol bereez, or flower toss. After their royalty-ready wedding, the newlyweds embarked on an equally luxurious Italian honeymoon.

REAL WEDDINGS

THE COUPLE Jordan was instantly enamored with Emma when they met in graduate school, but it would take a full six months before Emma would discover her mutual interest. The pair dated for five and a half years when Jordan began crafting the perfect proposal. Weeks of planning—including sneakily testing a 3D-printed mock-up of his custom-designed ring on a sleeping Emma—culminated in a romantic dinner at Log Haven, where Jordan serenaded Emma with “Wild Love” by James Bay. Emma could not have been more sure of her decision to say “yes!” Emma and Jordan felt conflicted about whose last name they would take. “It didn’t feel right to either one of us to erase the other’s identity,” Emma shares. After much creative discussion, they landed on the name “June,” which tied into several facets of their story from the engagement ring designer, June Rings, to Juno being the Goddess of Marriage. “It felt perfectly meant to be,” Emma laughs. “Like the universe was winking at us for discovering the path that was ours all along.”

THE WEDDING Emma and Jordan tied the knot at La Caille in Sandy. The venue’s fairytale vibe drew the couple in, but the resident peacocks sealed the deal. “They happen to be the symbol of Queen Juno,” says Emma. Leaning into La Caille’s nature-driven design, a sweet and colorful garden party took center stage. Mille Fleur Design dressed the outdoor ceremony space and atrium reception room with swaths of pastel-hued florals, and checkered linens adorned high tops for added flair. As guests entered the ceremony, they were asked to bring items with sentimental value to display—everything from cookbooks and photos to dolls and clothing. Floating down the aisle in a stunning off-shoulder mermaid gown from The Bridal Studio, Emma met her betrothed. Known to pull off his own fashion statements, Jordan donned a custom metallic blue silk suit designed by Olga Assayah, inspired by an iconic Timothee Chalamet red carpet look.

THE PARTY Inside La Caille’s grand atrium, tropical greenery and hanging lanterns created a vibrant backdrop. To kick off the celebrations, the couple distributed a custom newspaper dubbed The June Tribune, which gave guests an inside look at their new last name. As guests found their seats, they were also greeted with mini canvases and painting supplies. After enjoying speeches and feasting on dinner catered by Magleby’s, the wedding revelers danced the night away with DJ Russ Powell.

THE COUPLE Lucy and Mitch met each other on a group date. The only problem—they were on different dates. Cut to 2023 and the stars finally aligned when Mitch asked Lucy out for the first time. Six love-fi lled months later, the couple was visiting New York when, on a walk through Central Park, Mitch surprised Lucy and popped the big question. She responded with an emphatic “yes!”

THE WEDDING Mitch and Lucy were sealed in the Draper Temple. After the sealing, the wedding goers headed back to Lucy’s parent’s home for a grand backyard reception. The estate transformed into a French countryside cottage and was infused with pops of powder blue against white linen, accented with lush greenery. Making her second wedding debut of the day, Lucy entered the reception in a demure Anne Barge ball gown adorned with silk floral brocade. The bride adored the gown so much that flowery motifs mimicking her gown made appearances in the stationary and signage as well. The bridal look was completed with classic white trimmed veil from Frankie Jane Couture Bridal, peep-toe kitten heels and simple pearl stud earrings.

THE PARTY

Lucy & Mitch PRIVATE RESIDENCE, DRAPER JUNE 8 Planning & Design by L A FÊTE FLORAL & EVENTS Photographs by MIKKI PL AT T

Live floral garlands and decorative calligraphy lent an air of resplendency to the design, while a sweeping banquet table became a feast for the eyes framed with lush green arches and shimmering crystal chandeliers. A live string quartet set a romantic tone reminiscent of a regency-era soirée. Keeping with her passion for the arts, Lucy also hired live illustrators to capture the magic of the evening. The wedding day menu consisted of French favorites— crêpes and pomme frites—served from adorable vendor carts. Guests also enjoyed a decadent dessert table piled high with macarons, pistachio cream puffs and more. When it came time to slice the cake, Lucy and Mitch cut into a classic two-tiered blue-and-white gateau. The top layer was a rosemary olive oil cake frosted with lemon curd, fresh raspberry and whipped ricotta buttercream. A vanilla bean cake with bourbon syrup, salted caramel and shortbread crumble made up the sugary-sweet bottom layer. After eating their fi ll of French sweets, the guests took to the dance floor, where tunes by Zak Osmond had them dancing into the evening. Lucy donned her fi nal look, a silk number by Ciao Lucia, and made her way through a sparkler-lit exit, hand in hand with her new husband. The couple made a smart getaway in a vintage blue Porsche and continued their post-nuptial celebrations during their Cancun honeymoon.

W

WEDDINGS AND THEIR DESIGNS ALIKE ARE BECOMING INCREASINGLY MORE INTENTIONAL THESE DAYS, and Utah’s top-notch pros are celebrating.

Setting the scene at The Blake in Provo, Utah, wedding planner Irene Katzias imagines a couple’s perfectly personalized big day.

TELL YOUR STORY Was your fi rst date a coffee-and-macarons meetup? Present each guest with a macaron at their place setting. Did you have your engagements taken among the spring cherry blossoms? Allow that vignette to inspire your invitation suite, like this pretty-in-pink paper set by Polite Paper, which establishes a delicate floral theme echoed on the wedding-day table. “I wanted to show couples how they can infuse their own character into every element of their day,” says Katzias. “When you put a little more detail into the design, it keeps guests more engaged. Rather than seeing the day as just an event, your wedding becomes a representation of your love story that they are invited into.” In the case of this fantasy bride, Irene and the vendor team leaned into a contemporary garden-girl daydream, encapsulating the personality of a feminine, nature-loving gal.

MODERN FEMININITY It all began with a vibrant palette of pastels—lavender, blush and pale blue—which floral designer Brontë Baird transformed into a glorious garden landscape. A teardrop-shaped floral arch serves as a backdrop for the couple’s ceremony, reception, welcome and beyond. At the table, cascading petals and a whimsical rose chandelier bring the garden setting to life. Instead of the ever-popular minimal white cake, this team pushed for full-on femininity with a decadent monogrammed confection, all wrapped in an elegant bow. Two fun-loving gowns from Boda Bridal clad this girl’s girl bride. The first is a rose-colored vision of modern romance. A tradition-bucking lace bralette teams with butterfly applique atop a multitude of tulle, creating a statement-making bridal ensemble. “I didn’t think this bride would actually wear white,” Katzias said. “When I came across this gown, I knew it was her.” For the fun-filled reception, she changes to floraldecked, flouncing mini dress for dancing and drinks. Both looks are accented with charm-packed shoes by She is Cheval, neither skimping on extra bling.

IMMERSE YOUR GUESTS “I’m loving the shift toward personality and intention in wedding plans lately,” Katzias gushes, adding that intentionality only enhances the guest experience. Speaking of reception fun, consider your bar experience. First and foremost, signature cocktails are another intuitive way to bring your own unique dynamic to your wedding activities. How do they look? What flavors resonate with you? Here, organic accents complement both the flavor of the drinks, as well as the nature-loving vibe of this imagined bride. Similarly, the architectural structure of the bar, with green siding pulling the darker tones of the floral design, speaks to a masculine moment any groom can embrace. Let your own interests and loves guide you to plan an enticingly personalized menu. Maybe even bring your pet into the mix with a drink tribute. At the end of the night, let that personality run wild. Let a DJ like Russ Powell bring the energy with a customizable playlist and cold sparks on the dance floor to ensure a killer after party on your special day.

EXPERIENCE THE CHARM OF THE WILD WEST and the allure of high luxury in one fell swoop with rich color and delicate touches in an idyllic rustic venue.

THE INTRO Kick off your wedding mood by showing your signature style in paper form. Carefully crafted by La Madeleine Studio, this perfectly matched paper suite employs a pronounced palette, elegant typography and landscapeinspired patterns to capture a beautiful balance between desert rustic and feminine luxury. The suite boasts an abundance of rich greens and deep tans, mirroring the verdant palette of Utah’s summer landscapes. Raw-edged paper invokes visions of handwritten love letters, echoed in a collection of vintage stamps on each personalized envelope. Th is bold foundation, adorned with dainty ribbons and coyly floraled illusion coverlets, tells guests to expect an adventure of an event, infused with all the pomp of wedding elegance.

iconic view and natural setting before guests even glance outside. “I was inspired by High West’s rustic charm and high-mountain desert landscape,” says wedding planner Kristin Spear of Soirée Productions, who curated this stunning vignette. “I wanted to mirror those natural textures in the linens and table settings.” Utah-inspired textures inform every detail, with beds of salt supporting slender tapered candles, sleek iron chairs providing a strong base and a simple patterned linen giving an ode to the Wild West. Effortless florals appear to be sprouting directly from the table’s center, a magical moment repeated in the ceremony design, where rust, blush and gold blooms burst from every open space, nearly transporting the scene right into a mountainside meadow.

HIGH WEST FASHION The ceremony’s subtle color scheme echoes that natural beauty, while allowing this couple’s high-fashion attire to have its own moment. A sleek blue suit garbs the groom, inviting a touch of classic formality to the wedding vision. The bride’s ensemble is a brilliant ode to cowgirl-chic, but with a highfashion twist: Intricate ruching and high-gloss accessories marry with rough hems and a corseted bodice to deliver the best of both worlds.

CHEERS! During cocktail hour, simplicity and elegance abound, allowing the focus to be on the experience: a High West whiskey tasting full of the flavors of the state. Setting the mood, greenery and delicate blooms erupt from a stone mantel, appearing as native as can be. Bud vases add pops of color to each cocktail table, while on the bar, a customized whiskey bottle flanked by cascading tulips delivers a dose of personality to the celebration.

1. Delicate ruching on both sleeve and bodice delivers mountains of texture to the bridal gown. 2. A personalized, hand-painted whiskey bottle—what a keepsake from a oneof-a-kind day. 3. Hand-painted accent plates match wildly-sprouting floral arrangements along the tablescape. 4. Mountain meadow florals bloom from every opening along the ceremony aisle. 5. An intimate dinner scene looks out over the majesty of High West Distillery’s unforgettable vistas.

WHEN DESIGNING A WEDDING VIGNETTE, SELECTING ENDURINGLY BEAUTIFUL DETAILS IS A MUST for a wedding

gallery that stands up to the test of time. With the help of seasoned pros, planner Braelynn Tuitupou of Belle Bodas Events crafts a wedding dinner design that checks the boxes of both trendy and timeless.

TABLE TRAIN Serpentine tables at the wedding dinner are a trend we just can’t get enough of, delivering a sense of playful attention to detail not just in the florals and finishes, but also in the furnishings themselves. These interconnected rounds add movement and interest to this tablescape, while also creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere for guests. “Imagine sitting at a table where you can easily chat with those next to you, yet still feel immersed in a lively and beautiful setting,” says Tuitupou.

84 u t a h b r i d e a n d g r o o m . c o m

ONE HUE TO RULE THEM ALL Even with a classic monochrome palette of ivory, green and black, this event’s florals are anything but traditional. Eruptions of soft greenery, verdant floral selections and surprising accents such as fruit and familiar plated greens visually connect all the tables. Arranged with the whimsical floral vision of Harvest Floral Co., every position feels like its own experience. Striking black place settings anchor each seat at the edge of the table, and graceful black iron and wicker chairs bring the beauty and originality of the tables’ designs together in full force.

HARMONIOUS DETAIL Every element of the wedding day should feel united: a true reflection of a couple’s personality. Here, the elements are carefully designed to flow with one another, right down to

the seemingly simple wedding cake. Wrapped in delicate sheets of rippling white fondant, the cake’s finish mimics the elegant pleats of the wedding gown. Even the mountain venue’s views are honored by the subtle color shifts within each floral arrangement, allowing this wedding to nestle perfectly into the natural backdrop around it. “One of my favorite moments was capturing the bride at the top of Sundance’s mountains,” says Tuitupou. “With the lush greenery behind her and the peaks framing the scene, each shot was absolutely breathtaking.

University Museum of Art’s courtyard into a scene plucked straight from a wedding dream.

GATHER AROUND Rather than choosing a traditional altar setup, many couples are leaning toward a more interactive experience. In this magical scene set against the picturesque, European manor facade of the UVU MOA, guests are surrounded by a beautiful botanical garden as the couple exchanges vows in a circular ceremony arrangement that puts the lovers at center stage. Rich ruby and caramel florals radiate from the main event, immersing each guest in the day’s breathtaking scene.

ALL IN THE DETAILS Elegance is infused into every moment of this dreamy design, thanks to the distinctive details planted by the pros on site. Personalized fans direct the dinner’s seating chart, where expertly ruched linen delivers rich texture to the tabletops. Among hand-crafted blossoming trees, a stunningly sculptural cake matches organically molded chargers and flatware to continue the nature-driven theme along each tablescape.
