Diversity and Inclusion Symposium The University of Utah Diversity and Inclusion Symposium includes interactive speeches and will highlight the essentials to foster diversity and inclusion, which will lead to better business outcomes, innovation, and increased efficiency. Attendees will move and grow as leaders and an individuals. They will gain insight into how to implement diversity initiatives, create a psychologically safe environment, and walk away with research-backed strategies and skills to implement immediately. Diversity and Inclusion Symposium Get to know the symposium speakers:

Ray Arata, J.D. Heart-Based Allyship: A Four-Step Process Ray Arata is the Founder of the Better Man Conference, a one-day event with resources, support, and community to engage men as allies in creating an inclusive culture. Ray’s mission involves going into the corporate world and getting male executives to stand up and stand strong when including and advancing women. As a co-founder of Better Man Leadership Group, Ray is committed to transforming the gender perspective from which organizations engage with all stakeholder groups; customers, employees, investors, partners, and the global community.

Glen Kreiner, Ph.D. Mindful Identity: Connecting to Ourselves and Others More Effectively Professor Glen Kreiner is a David Eccles Professor of Management at the University of Utah. He received his Master’s in Organizational Behavior from Brigham Young University and his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Arizona State University. His research focuses on topics such as identity, mindfulness, work-life balance, and ethics. He is currently conducting research projects regarding workers with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and seeks to make workplaces better for this population.

Nubia Peña, J.D. Disrupt Division Through Bystander Intervention Nubia Peña is the Senior Advisor on Equity and Opportunity to Governor Cox and the Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs Director. Peña facilitates dialogues amongst local and national leaders on complex topics of inclusion and racial justice, working to create equitable access in services and resources for historically disenfranchised communities. Ms. Peña also designs and implements various workshops on creating culturally relevant, and gender-specific programming, specifically when working with youth and adolescents.
