EXECUTIVE HEALTHCARE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM Overview Senior leadership at the University of Utah Health has partnered with the David Eccles School of Business Executive Education to provide leadership development to groups of leaders across multiple disciplines. Whether you are an executive or aspiring to reach an executive level in your organization, this 11-session program will provide an opportunity for cross-functional leaders to learn and grow as a cohesive team. You will gain the necessary skills to effectively communicate with all stakeholders in a respectful, empowering, and appreciative manner, while gaining the expertise, credibility, and confidence needed to reach the next level in your career. Under the guidance of top faculty from the David Eccles School of Business you will learn the power inherent in consultation, as well as how to embrace a consultative culture. Executive Healthcare Development Program Sessions Teams and Presentation Skills | Dr. Jennifer cummings & dr. kate cañas Wednesday, March 4 - Friday, March 6, 2020 Intensive Week in Park City, Utah In this session, you will learn how to use public speaking as a platform of emotional intelligence. You will delve into the art of using persuasion as a connection, along with Aristotle's trilogy: pathos, logos, and ethos. Through content and skill building assignments, you will learn how to develop a logical and strategic structure to your public speaking, deal with diverse audience types, and develop an emotional connection through storytelling, metaphors, rhetorical questions, and repetition.
Effective teams and healthy conflict | Dr. Jennifer cummings Thursday, April 2, 2020: 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2020: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Learn the best practices of high-performing teams, how to keep team members motivated and engaged, and how to build trust and critical thinking through listening, perspective-taking, and empathy. Through this course, you will understand how to build a culture of appreciation and positivity on your team while valuing and leveraging team members' diversity and creating psychological safety among your team members.
INfluence and Negotiations strategies | Dr. kate liljenquist Thursday, May 7, 2020: 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2020: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This session takes a highly applied approach to negotiation, teaching healthcare leaders how to secure the conditions for their personal success, enhance patient care, and influence healthcare delivery in their communities. Learn how to negotiate from a position of power and be able to exert influence, listen effectively and discern others’ interests, and manage your own and others’ emotions in negotiations.
Agile change leadership |bonita austin, mba Thursday, June 4, 2020: 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This session will cover episodic or infrequent change and change models that apply to this situation, such as Kotter’s change model. Also covered are tools for cooperation and change, Google's change framework, Providence St. Joseph's change model, and setting up the work environment for change using the Work Systems Framework.

You will learn the difference between management and leadership, how to navigate healthcare quandaries and solutions through effective leadership, how managers become leaders, why a leader should be ethical, why ethical decision-making matters, and how to utilize competitive advantage through Emotional Intelligence.
Diversity and inclusion: A business approach|Dr. Kate cañas Thursday, August 27, 2020: 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2020: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Understand the essential pillars of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. In this session, you will cover diversity and inclusion as an organizational strategy, diversity management, diversity and the law, diversity categories, and the integrative model for managing diversity. This will be followed by a diversity and inclusion workshop and planning session for your organization.
