GLOBAL IMMERSION OPPORTUNITIES

IN UTAH’S EXECUTIVE MBA PROGRAM

TRAVEL THROUGH YOUR MBA

And reap the benefits.

The University of Utah Executive MBA Program is a step above the rest in many ways, one of which is the international aspect of the program. Designed to help students graduate with a well-rounded knowledge of industries around the world, the EMBA holds one intensive week, a North American immersion experience, and a global immersion experience during the program. Each event helps participants network, learn, and prepare for their future endeavors in a way no other program does. This guide provides an in-depth description of each of these unique experiences.

Boost your network: Spend time traveling, learning, and forming lasting connections with other seasoned professionals in your cohort.

Learn international business: Learn from partnered universities and organizations about the economy outside of the United States.

Get behind the scenes: Visit local companies, global corporations, and even government agencies in a foreign country; experience the way business works on a global level.

INTENSIVE WEEK

When: The beginning of the program

Start your Executive MBA journey with a five-day intensive week designed to help you bolster your network and unite you with your peers from day one. You and the rest of your cohort will travel to a remote location in Utah, where you’ll immerse yourself in two classes, learn the expectations of the program, and foster the team relationships you’ll need to succeed. You will connect with devoted peers, a dedicated administration team, and renowned faculty members who are deeply invested in your success and personal development. Combine these with a competitive curriculum that will teach you everything you need to know to accelerate your career path, and you’ll be set.

This unique experience will allow you to get ahead in your studies, complete a semester’s coursework in just a week, and have a phenomenal foundation for the rest of the program. Additionally, meeting your classmates and spending such an intense period of time with them elevates friendships—which you’ll need in the coming years as you take on the challenge of an Executive MBA.

IMMERSION EXPERIENCE: NORTH AMERICA

When: The end of the program’s first year

The first of two global immersion experiences will take place at the end of your first year in the program. The main focus of this trip is partnering with a university or company in North America to bolster your knowledge of the economy and international businesses interactions. You’ll attend lectures with notable faculty, complete unique coursework, and visit the site of a notable company in the area. In the past, Utah’s Executive MBA program has partnered with prestigious universities like the Mexican Autonomous Institute of Technology (ITAM), the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management, and the University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business.

Whether you travel to Mexico, Canada, or find yourself immersed in a Salt Lake Valley company, you’ll have a fantastic time with this hands-on, unique experience and gain a deeper understanding of business operations in North America.

IMMERSION EXPERIENCE: GLOBAL

When: The end of the program’s second year

The second global immersion trip occurs at the end of your time in the program. This week-long experience will take you to another country where you’ll have a chance to visit both small, local companies and large, global companies. Additionally, you’ll visit local government agencies to gain a firm grasp on rules and regulations for business within the country you visit. The main goal of your second international experience is comprehensive learning.

The decision on where to travel for this second trip is often based on current economic trends, allowing your experience to be very valuable to employers who do business abroad. You’ll also have the chance to connect closely with your cohort one last time before graduation as you learn a new economy together. Many consider this to be similar to the capstone project requirement you may find in other programs.
