EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP CERTIFICATE

Whether you are an executive or aspiring to reach an executive level in your organization, the Executive Leadership Certificate provides you with the expertise, credibility, and confidence needed to reach the next level in your career. Over the course of six two-day classes, you will learn through a combination of lecture-based presentations and interactive activities under the guidance of top faculty from the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business.

You will learn skills that will allow you to better understand your employees, increase productivity, and boost the bottom line in your organization. The knowledge from this certificate program will translate to both your personal and professional life as you will have the unique opportunity to expand your network and make important connections with other people in the program.

Certificate Requirements

The Executive Leadership Certificate requires the completion of six two-day executive leadership courses. Topics include ethics, innovation, teams, negotiations, finance, and diversity.

Executive Leadership Classes

Completion of any six of the following Executive Leadership classes is required to earn this certificate.

This course will explore the interpersonal issues that can come from working in a group or in a one-on-one relationship. You will learn how to address, process, and resolve conflict in a way that is healthy and productive.

Finance for the Non-Financial Leader | Atif Ellahie, Ph.D.

Designed for the non-financial leader, this program provides foundational principles in accounting and finance and teaches how to effectively use financial information to make a meaningful impact.

The Mindset of Innovation and Strategy | Cord Bowen, MBA

Business leaders are under pressure to drive innovation while meeting the everyday demands of business operations. This program provides tools to help you manage this challenge and lead breakthrough innovation at your organization.

Leading in a Rapidly Changing Environment | Bonita Austin, MBA

Learn to apply proven change management techniques. These tools will help your company implement change initiatives, reduce employee and managerial frustration, and decrease the chance of change initiative failure.

Empowering and Motivating High-Performance Teams | Jennifer Cummings, Ph.D.

This course will discuss best practices for running a team and establishing good relationships. You will gain skills for strengthening your team and fostering continuous improvement.

Leading With Ethics and Emotional Intelligence | Abe Bakhsheshy, Ph.D.

This program will help you hone your emotional intelligence and ethical decision-making skills to make a bigger impact in your organization and become a stronger leader.

Speaking for Influence: Presenting and Storytelling | Kate Cañas, Ph.D.

As a leader ascends in their organization, they are required to speak in public more often as they shape the organization’s mission and values. Become a confident speaker who creates a powerful audience connection.

Mastering Strategic Leadership | Heidi Herrick, Ph.D.

Assess your strategic skills and embrace a problem-finding skillset to enable your company to outperform rivals and delight current and future customers.

Negotiations and Influence | Katie Liljenquist, Ph.D.

In this program, you will learn effective strategies for negotiating business deals and resolving disruptions while identifying your strengths and weaknesses as a negotiator.

Habits of Success for Leaders | Georgi Rausch, Ph.D.

The course will discuss the science of habit formation and change, and then focus on four key habits of successful leaders: managing your mind, auditing your time, creating safety and trust with others, and cultivating fun and play.

Fostering a Mentally Healthy Workplace: Culture, Mindfulness, & Policy | Glen Kreiner, Ph.D.

This course will explore how the mental health crisis affects workplaces and what can be done to address it. Participants will learn practical frameworks and receive actionable toolkits for assessing and addressing the mental health challenges they and others might experience at work.
