LASSONDE ENTREPRENEUR INSTITUTE Bench-to-Bedside Competition (B2b) The Bench-to-Bedside Competition is designed to introduce students to the world of medical device innovation. Student teams form multidisciplinary start-up companies that identify an unmet clinical need. Teams are given access to over 100 University physicians to serve as their consultants, key opinion leaders, and stakeholders and have six months to develop medical device concepts that address their identified need.

GET SEEDED PROGRAM Get Seeded is a monthly student-run pitch event for aspiring student entrepreneurs. Present your idea at a Pitch Screening and Selection event. Judges will choose which teams advance to a Get Seeded funding event where you’ll pitch to your peers and the audience will decide if you get funded.

New Venture Development Center The New Venture Development Center provides an opportunity for graduate students to work side-by-side with faculty inventors, providing them with business advice and strategic planning to bring their product into the marketplace. Over the course of the year-long program, student associates engage with on-campus resources and business professionals while building out a lasting professional network.

Utah Entrepreneur Challenge (UEC) The Utah Entrepreneur Challenge is a statewide, student business-model competition. Teams from universities across the state compete for the chance to win more than $100,000 in cash and prizes. Participating teams receive mentorship from community experts and are judged by industry professionals. Many past winners have developed into successful enterprises.

Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative The primary objective of the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative is to provide students with the solid principle-based ethical framework central to decision-making in a complex business environment. The organization provides ethics coursework, exposure to business practitioners, and case competitions with real-world applications.

Sorenson Center for Discovery and Innovation The Sorenson Center for Discovery and Innovation supports business, students, and faculty as they discover, design, and develop novel digital solutions that generate new sources of value. Students can learn how to create prototypes, business models, and promotional strategies to drive commercial success.

Sorenson Impact Center The Sorenson Impact Center focuses on impact investing, impact measurement, program performance, and innovation and field-building through its think tank. The Center powers the University Venture Fund (UVF), the first and largest experiential student venture fund in the nation.

COMPETITIONS Adobe Analytics Challenge For 10 years, the Adobe Analytics Challenge has been a unique analytics-focused business case competition where university students are given the opportunity to use Adobe’s analytics products and access to real-world data and the chance to win over $50,000 in cash and prizes. The University of Utah won in 2011 and 2016.

Association for Corporate Growth Cup (ACG Cup) The ACG Cup is a case study competition designed to give students from leading MBA programs across the country real world experience and invaluable insights into mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, financial advisory, and private equity. The University of Utah won in 2015.

Games4Health Games4Health is a global student game design competition with over $60,000 in prizes that is hosted by the University of Utah’s Sorenson Center for Discovery and Innovation. The competition challenges students and their teams to design a game or an app that promotes health and makes a different in people’s lives.

GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES International Field Study The Full-Time MBA International Field Study is an optional elective for second year students that provides hands-on experience in international business practices, cultures, and environments. The trip is combined with on-campus coursework prior to the trip and strengthens the Utah MBA student network. Previous field study destinations include China, Japan, and India.
STUDENT AND ALUMNI ORGANIZATIONS Masters of Business Student Association (MSBA) The Masters of Business Student Association (MBSA) is led by a leadership council elected by Full-Time MBA students. The MSBA works with all other clubs and organizations including the dean’s office, faculty, and staff.
Women in Business (WIB) The Women in Business Club strives to promote gender equity and education for Full-Time MBA students in order to promote a supportive culture for all individuals in the program, regardless of gender.
Connect U Connect U is alumni-run organization designed to introduce students to a powerful network of David Eccles School of Business alumni across the nation and world through informational interviews, ongoing events, and more.
