EXPAND YOUR SKILLSET
At Utah’s MSCM program, our goal is to provide every student with skills and experience that will allow them to stand out from other cybersecurity professionals in the job market. To do this, our program includes a capstone project that students complete to gain an approved IT certification to add to their resume. Additionally, students can pursue a concurrent degree that allows them to excel in a multitude of roles and apply their knowledge with experiential learning opportunities. Learn about our capstone project, concurrent degree options, and experiential learning opportunities below.
MSCM Capstone:
MSCM students complete a capstone project as the culmination of their degree. This project allows students to put their classroom knowledge to work by preparing for and achieving an approved cybersecurity or IT certification to demonstrate skills that complement their education and stand out to employers. Completed over two to three semesters, the capstone is worth three credit hours.
Concurrent Degrees:
To expand skills and knowledge into all areas of business, students have the option to earn a Full-Time MBA, Professional MBA, or MBA Online degree concurrently with their MSCM. Simultaneously completing these degrees allows students to gain two degrees with minimal extra credit hours and at a decreased cost for both the MBA and MSCM.
Experiential Learning:
Students can apply what they learn in the classroom in student organizations such as the TEK Club, which hosts exclusive networking events, career fairs, company visits, and more information systems and computer science events. MSCM students also have the opportunity to gain hands-on new venture experience at the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute.

Full-time, part-time, on-campus, and online students have the same course options, and students are able to adjust their course load semester-by-semester.
Full-Time MSCM Format
• Fall-semester start: students complete the program in three semesters (12 months)
• Spring-semester start: students complete the program in four semesters (16 months)
Part-Time MSCM Format
• Students complete the program in four or more semesters based on chosen course load (16+ months)
To accommodate working professionals, most MSCM courses are held in the evenings starting at 6 p.m., and students have the option to enroll in a mix of inperson and online classes each semester.
