“Instead of just sitting in a classroom hearing about how or why things work, I’ve been able to see firsthand and apply concepts I’m learning. Creating content for clients, publishing stories in a real magazine, and being part of an entirely student-run news source have been valuable hands-on experiences for me. DSU has given me so much insight into my field of work and I feel more confident and better prepared for a career when I graduate.”

INNOVATION
“DSU has made me want to further my education as much as possible so that I can help my community to the best of my ability. When I started, I only wanted to be a paramedic, but at DSU I learned that I could become both a physician assistant and a paramedic. I plan to work in both fields at the same time, helping my community while also pursuing my dreams of working in the medical field.”

“I really appreciated DSU’s small class sizes, which allowed me to engage with my peers and build lifelong relationships. The classes also gave me an opportunity to know my professors on an individual level, and I wasn’t just a number. One of my instructors in the Criminal Justice program was also the chief of the Santa Clara-Ivins Police Department. I later interned in his department, which propelled me into my career, working as one of two female officers there.”
