University of Tasmania

The University of Tasmania (UTAS), founded in 1890, is the fourth oldest university in Australia. UTAS has programs for international students at campuses in the island state of Tasmania’s two largest cities - Hobart and Launceston. Domestic students can also study at the Cradle Coast campus in Burnie. UTAS is a medium sized university with over 26,000 students including 3000 on-campus international students from more than 100 countries. UTAS offers high quality education with up-to-date facilities including the Australian Maritime College which is Australia’s national centre for maritime-related education, training and research. The University consistently ranks in the top ten universities for research in Australia and has several dedicated research institutes, including the Menzies Research Institute and the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies. Our respected academic tradition, a generous scholarship program and a great location makes UTAS an attractive choice for study.
