Let’s Do This! UTC kicked off the 2018 Spring semester by welcoming more than 30 new students from 16 different countries to campus. During their orientation, the new students were able to get helpful information about immigration, campus services, and life in the US. One of the most exciting portions of the orientation for the students was the visit to the Mocs Card Center to get their student IDs; making them official UTC Mocs! Since Day 1 of orientation was reserved for business, Day 2 was for fun. After touring the UTC Library and the ARC, it was time for our new students to see what the city had to offer. The Chattanooga Hop Trolley Tour took students to all of the Scenic City hotspots, such as the Chattanooga Choo Choo, Coolidge Park, and the Bluff View Art District. After two informative days, our new international students are now ready to begin an incredible semester here at UTC! Written by Thomas Davis - business management major - senior

“I got to have a lot of conversations with people who live on the border of a lot of different identities, in terms of having a French identity, having a Muslim identity, having an Algerian identity. And that was the border I was interested in... just being somewhere that’s new, and having to interact to make relationships with people who have very different paradigms than you, is always valuable, even if you aren’t fluent in that language.” Written by Thomas Davis - business management major - senior
