Online applications are available at utc.edu/apply. To receive an admissions decision, you must submit an application and $30 application fee, official high school transcript and official transcripts from all previously attended colleges/universities.

Students must reserve a spot in an orientation session to register for classes at utc.edu/orientation.

Students wanting to be considered for scholarships (institutional or endowed funds) must complete their admission file by June 1, 2023. Accepted students must then complete a separate online scholarship application through their MyMocsNet account.

The 2023-2024 FAFSA is available on Oct. 1, 2022. The FAFSA is the application for all state and federal financial aid, including the HOPE scholarship. The FAFSA and all requested documents must be submitted by the priority date to ensure aid is processed by the fee-payment deadline. Financial aid awards are offered and accepted through each student’s MyMocsNet account.

APPLY FOR HOUSING

DECEMBER 1

Applications for fall 2023 will be available for accepted students at utc.edu/housing where students can complete the incoming transfer application and pay the $25 application fee. Students are encouraged to complete their housing application as soon as they are admitted to UTC because assignments are based on application completion date..

APRIL 2023

Housing will be assigned starting in late April and will continue through the summer. Room assignments are primarily based on the housing application completion date. For full details, visit utc.edu/housing and make sure to read the Guide for 2023 Incoming Transfers.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID

TRANSFER SCHOLARS

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is excited to offer a $2,000 scholarship for transfer students.

MINIMUM CRITERIA TO QUALIFY

• Students must have a 3.25 cumulative GPA and an associate’s degree or 60 college-level semester hours (associate’s degrees must be an A.A., A.S., or A.S.T. to qualify).

• Students must complete their admission file by June 1, 2023. Accepted students must then complete a separate scholarship application through their MyMocsNet account by July 1, 2023.

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA

• The transfer scholarship is renewable for up to three additional semesters after the initial award. Students must maintain a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA at UTC and complete 24 semester hours each year, including developmental courses, to renew the award.

• This scholarship may be stacked with the Tennessee Education Lottery Programs.

• Students receiving the regional tuition and border state discounts may also receive this scholarship.

• Students must have full-time status (min. of 12 hours per semester) for the fall and spring terms.

Colleges and academic departments award scholarships to incoming students and may require a separate application process. Be sure to read the scholarship details carefully regarding application procedures and deadlines.

ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

These awards are generously provided to UTC students through outside donors. There are many scholarship opportunities available based on various criteria such as financial need, major, grade point average, community or campus-based activities.

This scholarship guarantees free tuition and mandatory fees for eligible students. Visit website to determine if you qualify.

Remember to also complete the UTC online scholarship application. Students must be fully admitted to the University before completing the UTC online scholarship application through their MyMocsNet account.

TENNESSEE LOTTERY SCHOLARSHIPS

Transfer students can use their HOPE Scholarship at UTC. Send final transcripts (college AND high school) to the Admissions Office. Then, confirm that the school of choice for the HOPE Scholarship is UTC. Finally, contact the UTC Scholarship Office at 423-425-4677 or email them at scholarships@utc.edu.

STUDENTS WHO FIRST RECEIVED THE HOPE SCHOLARSHIP IN FALL 2009 OR AFTER:

• must have a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA at the end of the semester in which the they attempted 24 and 48 semester hours.

• must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA at the end of the semester in which they attempted 72, 96, and 120 semester hours.

If the student does not have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA at the end of the semester in which they attempted 72, 96, and 120 semester hours, then they must have a minimum 2.75-2.99 cumulative GPA and have a semester GPA of at least 3.0 at the end of the semester in which they attempted 72, 96, and 120 semester hours. The student’s continued eligibility will be determined on a semester-by-semester basis and must maintain full-time enrollment.

If the student ceases to be academically eligible for the HOPE Scholarship, they may regain the award one time only. The award may be re-established once they meet any of the above criteria and maintains continuous enrollment and satisfactory academic progress at an eligible post-secondary institution without the HOPE Scholarship.

The student must be continuously enrolled at an eligible postsecondary institution in the fall and spring semesters and maintain satisfactory academic progress.

FILE YOUR FAFSA EARLY

Remember the FAFSA is FREE. Do not allow anyone to charge you for submission.

The 2023-24 FAFSA opens on Oct. 1, 2022. Applicants will use 2021 tax information to complete it. File early for maximum awards.

Through federal, state and University financial programs, a student may receive one or more different types of assistance to cover educational costs. UTC awards more than $100 million in financial aid to 75% of our student body through scholarships, grants, loans and part-time employment.

HONORS COLLEGE INNOVATIONS IN HONORS PROGRAM

The Innovations in Honors Program is a problem-based learning experience designed for students in their second and third year of college to develop critical thinking, applied creativity and collaborative leadership. Using the UTC campus and the city of Chattanooga as active learning laboratories, students work closely with faculty members and civic partners in a twosemester Innovation Lab course to tackle authentic, real-world problems and benefit the larger shared community.

To apply, students must have earned at least 12 hours of graded college coursework. To enroll, students must have a minimum of 3.2 GPA and 24 graded college credit hours. UTC will waive outof-state tuition for all Honors College students.

PRIOR LEARNING ASSESSMENT

Students may earn credit for college level learning gained outside the traditional classroom environment. Prior Learning Assessment credit (PLA) may include competency examinations, employer training programs, military service, and other learning experiences. PLA credit is only awarded for college level learning. Students may earn up to 60 credit hours of PLA credit with no more than 24 credit hours of any one type of PLA credit. The credit may satisfy general education, major or minor requirements, or be granted as elective credit.

VARSITY ATHLETICS

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has 13 varsity athletics teams competing in various men’s and women’s sports. UTC Athletics is a member of the Southern Conference and awards scholarships in each sport.
