As part of our policy of respect for the environment, we have decided to set up a digital version of the runner’s guide this year to reduce our production of printed materials. This has allowed us to generate interactive support that simplifies and enriches the reading and use of information through the addition of hypertext links and videos. Thus, you only have to click on the links inserted in the texts or on the icon , to find the additional information. Visit our website utmbworld.com

EVENT
The UTMB® is much more than just a trail running event. A traditional August landmark since 2003, it’s a popular event that brings together all generations and all sportswomen and men from all path of life: amateurs and enthusiasts from the beginning, specialists in the discipline and international athletes, women and men of all levels and origins Everyone is welcome, and everyone has their place. UTMB® is for everyone-- of course you, our runner friends who come to challenge yourself, alone or accompanied by your loved ones. But, it’s also about the volunteers and service providers, the local partners and elected officials, the tourism and mountain professionals, the hut caretakers and herdsmen... The UTMB® offers it all: a chance to breathe and work hard together in the mountains, a time of bonding amid so many emotions… all of it, rich with moments that will last a lifetime. We like to say that the UTMB® is a little tour of the world, a certain unique sort of adventure, where you learn to remain humble in the face of adversity, become valiant in the effort, and share in the success. An epic sporting event, the UTMB® also provides the chance to reconnect with oneself and others through the shared values that are so dear to us.
SHARING
EXPERIENCE
The UTMB® at its core is a story of women and men. A great adventure bonded by common values and vision, that of sharing and fellowship between peoples. The Mont Blanc region is one of those rare places where there remains a strong connection between the people and the great outdoors. It is this relationship to the environment that brings together the inhabitants of the Mont Blanc region around a common endeavor, that of sharing, across our borders and with other passionate people, their know-how and relationship to the mountain and its environs.
The experience of each participant is one of the very core concerns of UTMB®. As our adventure has continued through the years, the UTMB® has always taken care to focus on the experience of each participant, so it continues to be authentic and complete. The high quality of the organization, the experience of the runners, the post-race follow-up, the liveliness of the region, and the scenic beauty of the race routes… All these are measures that contribute to the quality of the experience.
HERITAGE
PASSION
For 17 years, the inhabitants of the Mont-Blanc region have put this knowhow and expertise to work in the service of the UTMB®. It is thanks to their excellence and knowledge of the territory that the event that is UTMB® is a logistical success which allows us to bring to life, over the course of one week, this territory of 3 countries, 18 communes, 7 valleys and 800 km of paths. In each of these regions, the energy of these men and women allows UTMB® to host, each year, no fewer than 10,000 runners and 20,000 companions under ideal conditions. All come together around a common goal: to convey the values and the heritage of which they are so proud.
INTERNATIONAL
The UTMB® is synonymous with sharing and fellowship among peoples. This sharing takes place between runners from around the world, women and men from 5 continents and 100 nations. The last week of August in the villages and towns around Mont Blanc, you’ll meet American, Chinese, Japanese, Brazilian, Argentinean, Australian, Spanish, Omani, and South African runners ... All are welcome, and together they bring a cosmopolitan dimension that is at the heart of the event.
As UTMB® celebrates its 17th anniversary in 2019, the event continues to live with the same passion and the same convictions, with a goal of building, year after year, an ever-more cohesive event that is both collaborative and alive. An event with humanity at the heart of the experience. We are committed to insuring that every UTMB® race is a time of sharing, emotions and passion. We wish each and every one of you a great UTMB® experience!
ETHICS
Respect for people and the environment, mutual aid, equity and solidarity are the fundamental principles governing the organisation of the UTMB®. These values take concrete form throughout the year, both locally and internationally. Consideration of the territories and municipalities crossed, respect for participants and volunteers, protection of the environment and the health of runners, implementation of charitable actions. All these initiatives have been made possible by the organisation, which since its creation has given priority to concrete actions such as the 160 bibs for solidarity, health and the environment worn by runners in 2019. More than ever, we wish to share these values and actions with all those who participate in the great UTMB® celebration.

Race-bib distribution will take place in Chamonix or Courmayeur according to your choice. Attention: to claim your race-bib, you must go in person, armed with: photographic identification, your race pack and all your obligatory equipment at the location you indicated on your runner page. The race-bib must be worn on your chest or stomach and must be permanently and completely visible throughout the duration of the race. The race- bib must not be folded or cut. The race bib is the necessary pass to access shuttle buses, buses, aid stations, medical posts, rest areas, drop and pick-up areas for spares bags…The race-bib must not be removed. In the case of an abandonment, it is deactivated by a member of the organization.
CONTROL
Each runner will be supplied with 2 electronic chips and a bracelet. Certain check points are automatic, others are manual. Unexpected controls will be carried out by the organization. Runners who are not permanently in possession of their chips and wrist-bands will be penalized.
YOUR HEALTH PAGE
By completing your health page, you can be assured that if necessary, the doctors will have all the relevant information to make their intervention rapid and optimal. It should be noted that the information supplied on your health page is confidential. Only doctors can access it should they need to treat you. PORATBLE CUP
Designed to avoid wastage of disposable cups throughout the race, each runner must provide their own, with a minimum capacity of 15cl. Attention, gourds/water bottles or water flasks with screw/clip top are not accepted as beakers!
"BRING YOUR OWN UTENSILS"
BYOU
The organization will not distribute any disposable cutlery, beakers/cups or bowls at aid stations and refreshment posts. You are asked to carry your own utensils if you wish to eat hot food (soup, pasta).
SPARE BAGS
1 bag for personal belongings in Courmayeur. During the race, it is mandatory to retrieve your sack in Courmayeur and then drop it off again in the appropriate area before leaving so that it can be returned to Chamonix. (Attention: no spare bags in Champex) Neither walking poles, nor fragile or valuable objects, are to be placed in these bags. Only the bags provided by the organization will be allowed. Any delay in their repatriation is due to logistical constraints. A bag can be returned after the runner arrives in Chamonix, in particular in the case of abandonment early in the race. Thank you for being patient and respecting the work of the volunteers.
ARE YOU SPONSORED ?
That’s great but you can strictly only display it on your clothes and equipment used during the race. No flags in the name of X, or banners for Y.
Help us to conserve the natural surroundings; do not drop your litter along the race route. We all share the responsibility of keeping our play-ground clean. Do not forget to carry bag in which to put your rubbish between two rubbish-bin points.
RESPECTING THE REGULATIONS AND THE RACE STEWARDS As in previous years, the volunteers are there to help you, but also to ensure that the rules are respected. Among them are the Commissaires de Course (race stewards). Some of them have specific duties concerning the immediate application of real time penalties due if the rules are not respected. It is important to understand that the penalties which entail a stop are applied during the race! For the race leaders this represents a possible descent in the ranking, and the slowest runners this could mean missing the next time barrier. The Race Stewards have the right to check your mandatory equipment at the start and at any point along the route. If you are missing an element of the mandatory safety equipment (no minimum water reserve of a minimum of 1 liter, no waterproof jacket with hood, no torch, no survival blanket, no mobile/ cell phone) you will be immediately disqualified. To know more about the penalties, read the complete regulations on www.utmbmontblanc.com In case of exceptional or particular events, penalties will be decided with the race directors.
INTRO
REGULATIONS
RACES REFRESHMENTS
Only runners who are wearing a visible race-bib, on their chest or stomach, and their bracelets will be allowed in to the aid stations. The organization only supplies still water or energizing drinks for filling water bottles/reserves. The other drinks are exclusively for consumption in situ. 3 types of refreshments will be available: Refreshments of drinks only: plain water, sparkling water, energizing drinks, cola, coffee, tea, noodle soup. Complete refreshments: drinks (as above) + cereal or energizing bars, sweet cakes, chocolate, bananas, oranges, raisins, prunes, salty biscuits, cheese, salami, bread. Furthermore, a hot dish is offered at Chapieux, Champex and Courmayeur for the UTMB®. An end of the race meal is served in Chamonix.
TIME BARRIERS
The times are calculated to allow participants to finish the race in the compulsory maximum time. They are indicated on the various signs put at your disposal. The hour announced at the time barrier is the latest time at which competitors may leave the checkpoint. The organization can, if it is a question of safety, modify the time barriers. The runners will be notified by text message and/or email. At a crossing point, no runner can continue the race behind the sweepers.
SIGN-POSTING
The way markers are made of a yellow reflective material so that they catch the beam of your torch better at night. Since 2017, the organization’s team has used green way-markers. They are to remind you that you are moving through a naturally fragile zone. ATTENTION: if you see no way marker, retrace your steps! Paint restriction: to respect the environment no paint is used on the paths.
ABANDONMENT
Except in the case of injury, you can abandon the race nowhere except at a check point. It is therefore MANDATORY that you inform the point team leader, who will definitively invalidate your race-bib and remove the electronic chip from your backpack.
EVENT The runner keeps his invalidated race bib because it is still his pass for shuttles, buses, meals, care rooms. Repatriation will be decided on by the post leader, based on the following general rules: • Buses are available from certain aid stations – marked by a “bus” pictogram on the event map - to repatriate runners who abandon back to Chamonix. • Runners who abandon at any another rescue or aid station but whose state of health does not necessitate being evacuated must get back as quickly as possible and by their own means to the closest repatriation point. • In case of abandonment before a check point, it is imperative to return to the previous check point and inform the post leader of one’s abandonment. If, during the return, the runner meets the end of race sweepers, it is them who invalidate the race bib. The runner is then no longer under the organization’s control. New: to provide better information, you may also declare your abandonment via the LiveRun by LiveTrail® app. However, be aware that the abandonment procedure previously outlined also applies to runners who use this app.
REPATRIATION
The organization cannot ensure repatriation by car or 4x4 (except for a medical reason or on the decision of the aid station team leader). Runners who abandon at a post in the mountains must, as soon as possible, and by their own means, go to the nearest point of repatriation where the UTMB®Bus are available.
REST AND SHOWERS
You may take a hot shower uniquely after you have finished the race. Along the race route, showers are only to be taken upon medical advice. The rest areas provided by the race organization, are strictly reserved for runners during the race or to those who have just finished their race. They in no way constitute the solution for an entire night’s accommodation.

PERSONAL ASSISTANCE
Personal assistance is tolerated only at certain aid stations (*). You may only be assisted by one person and only in the zone specifically reserved for this purpose upon the presentation of an «assistance» ticket and with the permission of the aid station team leader (the rest of the aid station is reserved exclusively for runners). The « Assistance « tickets are to be found in your race-bib envelope. Runners are then free to give each ticket to the person of their choice. 1 ticket per assistance post 1 ticket = 1 person
Your assistant has the right to one piece of hand luggage (a bag with a maximum volume of 30 liters) in which to transport the necessary products (food, clothing…). Assistance provided by a professional team, or any other pro, medical or paramedical – even if they are relatives - is strictly forbidden. This is to ensure equity amongst all the runners, and to prevent aid stations from becoming a Formula 1 pit-stops. This doesn’t mean that your family and friends cannot support you along the way. Simply, so that everything runs smoothly, you are asked to respect the instructions given by the aid station team leader.
ACCOMPANYING ALONG THE ROUTE
Again, to insure equality between competitors, whatever their position, it is forbidden to be accompanied during all or part of the race by a person who is not a participant, outside of the zones of tolerance which are clearly marked in proximity to the aid stations. This authorizes short walks for family and friends but forbids pace setters. Race stewards are positioned at several points along the route and can give real time penalties if the regulations are not respected.
(*) Personal assistance is tolerated at the following stations : • Les Contamines • Courmayeur, • Champex • Trient • Vallorcine

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT At the end of August, in the Mont-Blanc region, the weather can change very quickly. In these conditions it is difficult to forecast the weather conditions in a very precise or complete manner. So as to be always ready for the reality on the ground, and in order not to burden you unnecessarily, the organization has added three kits to the list of mandatory equipment. The «heat-wave», «winter» and «bad weather’ kits are integrally a part of the obligatory equipment. According to the weather conditions, the organization can activate a kit and inform each participant before the opening of the racebib distribution of their race. ENVIRONMENT & WEATHER
The UTMB® races are all take place in open country, in mountainous terrain, with some remote areas (no roads or telecommunications…) with weather conditions which can change very quickly even at the end of August (snow, hail, fog, heat (>30°) or intense cold (<-10°), violent wind). Advice along the route : Do not stop at high peaks If you can’t see any way-marker: turn around and go back to the previous marker Follow the marked paths
EQUIPMENT
Some common sense reminders for facing difficult weather conditions: Anticipate the cold as well as extreme heat Don’t wait to shiver before covering yourself up Don’t change in full wind: anticipate or wait to be sheltered Protect yourself against the sun Walking poles: watch what you do with your poles particularly at the beginning of the race when there is a high human density. Do not wear the wrist straps on the descents: in case of a rough fall wrist-straps prevent the suitable use of the hands (injuries to shoulders, wrists, forearms or more seriously the head).
EATING & DRINKING
Hydration and the consumption of energizing snacks must be adapted to the meteorological conditions and enriched in salt throughout the effort. Keep a good balance between slow and rapid release sugars. Find our health advices on www.utmbmontblanc.com

FATIGUE AND VIGILANCE
Rest areas are available at aid stations for a few moments of sleep. It is dangerous to stop tosleep alone in open country. Fatigue and the lack of vigilance can cause an accident. Run within your limits (above all over the first part) saving your energy for later to surmount difficult situations which may arise, such as a sudden change of weather conditions.
OBLIGATORY INDIVIDUAL INSURANCE
We would like to remind you that it is obligatory to be in possession of individual accident insurance which covers any eventual costs for search and rescue In France, Italy and Switzerland. (Repatriation by helicopter costs between 800 and 3000 euros). Such an insurance policy may be taken out with the organization of your choice. For those runners who are members of the ITRA (International Trail Running Association) : it is now possible to subscribe to an Assistance -Repatriation insurance which will cover any search and rescue costs world-wide. More information on www.i-tra.org.
LIVERUN
The app is essential for your security, and at the same time it gives you precious information about the race (follow your race and that of your friends in real time). In the case of SOS, this function sends your position, via text message, to the or ganization. This represents a precious time gain in providing help, if needed. Attention however, you will still have to call the race HQ (PC Course) A mobile/cell phone is mandatory: With the international optional activated throughout the duration of the race, with the battery working well. In no circumstances put your phone in airplane mode because we need to be able to contact you
before, during and after the event. Smartphones are highly recommended in order to use the LiveRun by LiveTrail® app which is essential for your safety. For runners who are going to be running for more than 15 hours, an additional external battery is highly recommended. Check that the numer that you have given us as an emergency contact number is that of the person who you wish to be contacted in the case of a problem. Very important: In order to improve any medical intervention in the case of an incident, verify that you have submitted, on your runner’s page, the telephone number that will be using during the race. You can update it until the start of your race.
It is mandatory that you don’t leave a person in difficulty alone

RESPECT OF THE ENVIRONMENT SIGN-POSTING
In order to better understand the natural environment that you are crossing, we have created a specific sign-posting system. So, as you approach a herd/flock of animals or a naturally fragile zone, you will be informed by the sign-posts.
50 Mt
Herds/flocks On approaching these zones, pay particular attention to your behaviour so as not to frighten the animals: don’t wave your arms or poles, don’t shout and slow down.
Poles Hiking poles are forbidden in certain fragile sectors to avoid degradation of the site
Gates Certain routes cross thourgh fenced pastures, please would you close any gates/barrieres behind you.
Fragile sectors You are requested to stay on the main paths so as to protect the nature around you, avoid aggravating the erosion or disturbing the protected flora and fauna.
RESPECT OF THE PROTECTED NATURAL AREAS The UTMB® races cross protected natural zones and areas: 5 Nature reserves A nature reserve is an area which constitutes a reservoir of remarkable and fragile bio-diversity. In the Haute Savoie, they are managed by the association ASTERS (the Conservatory of the Haute Savoie’s natural areas). 6 Natura 2000 sites Natura 2000 is a European program creating a network of land and marine sites identified for the rarity or the fragility of the wild animal or plant species, and their habitats. 1 Franc district In the Swiss territory the Franc districts have the aim of the protection and conservation of rare and threatened wild mammals and birds as well as the protection and conservation of their habitats.
BYOU
NO MORE PLASTIC AT THE AID STATIONS To reduce consumption of plastic, both by runners and UTMB® volunteers, and therefore limit your carbon footprint and your waste production, the organization will not distribute any more disposable crockery (cutlery, beakers, bowls) at the check points and the aid stations (this rules is also valid for the volunteers). This action called « Bring Your Own Utensils « (BYOU) was first implemented at the Vibram Hong Kong 100 in January 2018. You are, therefore, invited to bring you own utensils if you wish to eat hot food at the aid stations..

PORATBLE CUP
Designed to avoid wastage of disposable cups throughout the race, each runner must provide their own, with a minimum capacity of 15cl. Attention, gourds/water bottles or water flasks with screw/clip top are not accepted as beakers!
«BRING YOUR OWN UTENSILS»
BYOU
The organization will not distribute any disposable cutlery, beakers/cups or bowls at aid stations and refreshment posts. You are asked to carry your own utensils if you wish to eat hot food (soup, pasta).
SPARE BAGS
1 bag to drop off just before the start the things you do not need during the race, and which is returned to Chamonix. Neither walking poles, nor fragile or valuable objects, are to be placed in these bags.

Furthermore, a hot dish is offered at Champex for the CCC® (no gluten available on request).

Runners are then free to give each ticket to the person of their choice.1 ticket par poste d’assistance 1 ticket per assistance post 1 ticket = 1 person Your assistant has the right to one piece of hand luggage (a bag with a maximum volume of 30 liters) in which to transport the necessary products (food, clothing…).
In order to retrieve their race-bib, each participant must therefore present their obligatory equipment, including the kit activated by the organization, and agree to keep it with them throughout the event.

The jacket must not have sections of fabric which are not waterproof, but air vents fitted by the manufacturer (under-arm, in the back), since they do not damage in any obvious way the impermeability, are accepted. It is the runner’s responsibility to judge, with these criteria , if their jacket fits the regulations stated and therefore bad weather in the mountains, but, during a check, the judgment is made by the person in charge of the check or the steward

RACE BIBS
«BRING YOUR OWN UTENSILS»
BYOU
The organization will not distribute any disposable cutlery, beakers/cups or bowls at aid stations and refreshment posts. You are asked to carry your own utensils if you wish to eat hot food (soup, pasta).
SPARE BAGS
2 bags. 1 bag to drop off just before the start the things you do not need during the race, and which is returned to Chamonix. 1 bag for personal belongings at Beaufort. During the race, you must pick up your bag when you arrive at Beaufort and drop it when you leave at the appropriate area so that it can be returned to Chamonix. The 2 bags are to be left near the departure. Neither walking poles, nor fragile or valuable objects, are to be placed in these bags.

EVENT
Furthermore, a hot dish is offered at Beaufort for the TDS® (no gluten available on request). An end of the race meal is served in Chamonix.
The runner keeps his invalidated race bib because it is still his pass for shuttles, buses, meals, care rooms.
REFRESHMENTS

1 ticket per assistance post 1 ticket = 1 person Your assistant has the right to one piece of hand luggage (a bag with a maximum volume of 30 liters) in which to transport the necessary products (food, clothing…).

In order to retrieve their race-bib, each participant must therefore present their obligatory equipment, including the kit activated by the organization, and agree to keep it with them throughout the event.

RESPECT OF THE ENVIRONMENT SIGN-POSTING
In order to better understand the natural environment that you are crossing, we have created a specific sign-posting system. So, as you approach a herd/flock of animals or a naturally fragile zone, you will be informed by the sign-posts..

RACE BIBS
Race-bib distribution will take place in Chamonix or Orsières, according to your choice.
Rendezvous on your runner’s page to complete your health page.

2 types of refreshments will be available: Refreshments of drinks only: plain water, sparkling water, energizing drinks, cola, coffee, tea, noodle soup. Complete refreshments: drinks (as above) + cereal or energizing bars, sweet cakes, chocolate, bananas, oranges, raisins, prunes, salty biscuits, cheese, salami, bread.
EVENT ABANDONMENT
Except in the case of injury, you can abandon the race nowhere except at a check point. It is therefore MANDATORY that you inform the point team leader, who will definitively invalidate your race-bib and remove the electronic chip from your backpack. The runner keeps his invalidated race bib because it is still his pass for shuttles, buses, meals, care rooms.
The way markers are made of a yellow reflective material so that they catch the beam of your torch better at night. Since 2017, the organization’s team has used green way-markers. They are to remind you that you are moving through a naturally fragile zone. ATTENTION: if you see no way marker, retrace your steps! Paint restriction: to respect the environment no paint is used on the paths.
The organization cannot ensure repatriation by car or 4x4 (except for a medical reason or on the decision of the aid station team leader). Runners who abandon at a post in the mountains must, as soon as possible, and by their own means, go to the nearest point of repatriation where the UTMB®Bus are available.
ASSISTANCE PERSONNELLE
REST AND SHOWERS
No assistance is allowed at any point along the route
ACCOMPAGNEMENT SUR LE PARCOURS
Again, to insure equality between competitors, whatever their position, it is forbidden to be accompanied during all or part of the race by a person who is not a participant, outside of the zones of tolerance which are clearly marked in proximity to the aid stations. This authorizes short walks for family and friends but forbids pace setters. Race stewards are positioned at several points along the route and can give real time penalties if the regulations are not respected

In order to retrieve their race-bib, each participant must therefore present their obligatory equipment, including the kit activated by the organization, and agree to keep it with them throughout the event.

In order to better understand the natural environment that you are crossing, we have created a specific sign-posting system. So, as you approach a herd/flock of animals or a naturally fragile zone, you will be informed by the sign-posts..

Race-bibdistributionwilltakeplaceinChamonixorinMartigny-Combe,according to your choice.
2 types of refreshments will be available: Refreshments of drinks only: plain water, sparkling water, energizing drinks, cola, coffee, tea, noodle soup. Complete refreshments: drinks (as above) + cereal or energizing bars, sweet cakes, chocolate, bananas, oranges, raisins, prunes, salty biscuits, cheese, salami, bread.
PERSONAL ASSISTANCE
No assistance is allowed at any point along the route
ACCOMPANYING ALONG THE ROUTE
Again, to insure equality between competitors, whatever their position, it is forbidden to be accompanied during all or part of the race by a person who is not a participant, outside of the zones of tolerance which are clearly marked in proximity to the aid stations. This authorizes short walks for family and friends but forbids pace setters. Race stewards are positioned at several points along the route and can give real time penalties if the regulations are not respected.

EVENT
In order to retrieve their race-bib, each participant must therefore present their obligatory equipment, including the kit activated by the organization, and agree to keep it with them throughout the event.
THE BASIC KIT 1. One pack only throughout the race. Your pack will be tagged at the distribution of race bibs and you must keep it with you throughout the race. 2. Mobile/cell phone with international roaming allowing for its use in the three countries (load in to its memory the organization’s security numbers, keep the phone on, don’t mask your number and don’t forget to leave with the battery fully charged) 3. Survival blanket of 1.40m x 2m minimum
10. Cap or bandana or Buff® 11. Jacket with hood which will withstand bad weather in the mountains and made with a waterproof* and breathable** membrane
• •
4. Whistle 5. Self adhesive elasticated bandage which can serve as a bandage or strapping (minimum 100 cm x 6 cm)
•
6. ID - passport/ID card 7. Personal portable cup 15 cl minimum (bottles or flasks with lids are not accepted) 8. Réserve d’eau minimum 1 litre
The jacket must, imperatively, be fitted with an integrated hood or one which is attached to the jacket by the original system designed for that purpose by the manufacturer. The seams must be sealed.
12. Long-legged trousers or race leggings OR a combination of leggings and socks which cover the legs completely
9. Food reserve Recommendation: 800kcal (2 gels + 2 energising bars each of 65g)

In no circumstances put your phone in airplane mode because we
need to be able to contact you before, during and after the event.

The PTL® trace is provided as a GPX track file. The trace is available in several files, each containing a segment of the route or one of the folding sections. It is associated with a GPX file containing the waypoints mentioned in the Roadbook provided by the organization (they identify characteristic points such as passes, localities and junctions involving changes of direction).
THE ROAD BOOK
Provided by the organization, it includes maps at 25:000, walking times, time barriers, information on meals and rest.
ENVIRONMENT AND BEHAVIOUR BYOU
EVENT THE COMPASS AND ALTIMETER
In case of problem or GPS failure, these tools will help you to find your way around. They can even support you in your decision-making from time to time. The altimeter will allow you to know which altitude you are at, in order to find your way more easily in relation to the contours on the maps. The compass will allow you to set a course, called an azimuth, and to take its direction in all circumstances.
THE BALIZER
Each team will be equipped with a GPS beacon provided by the organization. This will retransmit the position of the teams via the existing satellite network. The markers will be provided at the start, they will not require any manipulation by the competitors but they must be positioned at the top of the bag or on the shoulder, in direct view of the sky.
MEAL AND REST TICKETS
You will be entitled to 4 meal tickets, given by the organization. These tickets are pre-paid and can be used at your convenience among 9 partner huts. They will give you access to a full meal (starter- main course-dessert and 1 drink). Any consumption outside these tickets will be at your expense. You will also have free access to some hut to rest, we have booked beds accordingly. Two life bases will be at your disposal, in Morgex and Fully. They will offer you meals (without ticket), lightening bag and rest.
If you participate in PTL®, you are necessarily sensitive to nature. We expect you to respect all of the nature, the locals and, the organizers. • Compliance with the rules of nature reserves & Natura 2000 sites when you see the signs • Stay on the trails • Do not throw any plastic waste out of the bins provided • Respect for wildlife (they are at home!) • Respect for the decisions of the race headquarters • Respect for volunteers and refugees, residents and hikers
«BRING YOUR OWN UTENSILS»
NO MORE PLASTIC AT THE LIFE BASES
To reduce consumption of plastic, both by runners and UTMB® volunteers, and therefore limit your carbon footprint and your waste production, the organization will not distribute any more disposable crockery (cutlery, beakers, bowls) at the check points and the aid stations (this rules is also valid for the volunteers). This action called « Bring Your Own Utensils « (BYOU) was first implemented at the Vibram Hong Kong 100 in January 2018. You are, therefore, invited to bring you own utensils if you wish to eat hot food at the aid stations..

It is strictly prohibited at any other point along the route, including partner huts, village or road crossings, under penalty of immediate disqualification. If bad conditions (weather or ground conditions) arise, we will activate the withdrawal routes, contained in the roadbook. They will be activated in the field by volunteers or partner huts.
SECURITY REGULATIONS
• •
Always have a telephone connected per team Follow the rules given by the organization to stop if necessary. REGULATIONS
RACES RACE BIBS
Every bib is individually handed to each runner on production of: • a photographic identity, • your race pack and all you obligatory equipment. The race bib must be collected in Chamonix at the Place du Triangle de l’Amitié from 14:00 to 16:30.
SECURITY AND PERSONAL ASSISTANCE
Participants are the first link in the relief chain. They must provide assistance by quickly and correctly transmitting the alert in case of accident (witness or victim) to the race headquarters by telephone (telephone number written on each participant’s race number). Teams of first-aid workers linked to the race headquarters are present on the course in order to provide assistance when necessary. A medical team is also present throughout the race and can intervene on the course by any appropriate means, including helicopter transport if necessary. The medical and emergency services or the conventional services are authorized to remove a race bib and to disqualify any participant who is unable to continue the event. The costs resulting from the use of exceptional means of rescue or evacuation shall be borne by the person rescued, who shall also be responsible for his or her own return from the place where he or she has been evacuated. It is the personal responsibility of the runner to prepare and submit a file to his personal insurance within the time limit set.
ARE YOU SPONSORED ?
That’s great but you can strictly only display it on your clothes and equipment used during the race. No flags in the name of X, or banners for Y.
CONTROLLING AND ABANDONING
Each runner is equipped with 2 electronic chips: 1 fixed to the race-bib and 1 fixed to the back-pack. Runners who are not in permanent possession of their chips will be penalised. Checks (controls) will be carried out during the event to ensure that that the participants are followed and to ensure the regularity of the race. Participants must, obligatorily, pass these check points and present themselves (race-bib visible) to the controllers and follow their instructions. The first automatic control is made when crossing the starting line.
EVENT To avoid all unnecessary searching, all participants are obliged to notify their abandonment as soon as possible, at a control post or by telephone to the race HQ (PC course). Following their abandonment, each runner whose state of health does not require an evacuation, must return as fast as possible, by their own means, to the finishing area.
REFRESHMENTS
The YCC will be run in autonomy. A liquid refreshment point will be available at the La Suche checkpoint on the Juniors-Espoirs race-route. No refreshment points on the Cadets and Minimes courses. A meal will be served Chamonix after the prologue, organised by the Argentière UCPA. A meal will be served in Courmayeur after the trail-run, organised by the commune of Courmayeur.
SHOWERS
It will be possible to have a hot shower at the end of the race at the Forum Mountain Sport Centre in Dolonne, situated 1km from the finish. Shuttle buses will be available at the finish, from the place du Mont-Blanc, to take runners to the sports centre.
ENVIRONMENT AND SIGN POSTING
To respect the environment, no paint will be used on the trails. It is imperative to follow the paths as they are marked, without cutting through. Indeed, cutting a trail causes harmful erosion of the site. Do not throw away any packaging, tissues or other waste. A few grams in your pockets will not delay you and will allow everyone to fully enjoy this superb natural space. Any participant found in breach will be immediately disqualified.
ACCOMPAGNYING AND ASSISTANCE
All accompanying and assistance is strictly forbidden along the route of the YCC.
PENALTIES – DISQUALIFICATION
Any breach of the current regulations will be the object of a penalty against the participant. If several breaches are noticed, the points will be accumulated. The participant will be notified by the jury of any penalty within a delay of 20 minutes of finishing their race. The event’s final ranking will take into account the accumulation of the time taken for the race and any penalty points which are applied. See the list of penalities and the detailed regulations on www.utmbmontblanc.com

In order to retrieve their race-bib, each participant must therefore present their obligatory equipment, including the kit activated by the organization, and agree to keep it with them throughout the event.

UTMB®BUS
The UTMB® is an event experienced and shared in real time. In order to allow for runners and spectators not to miss any update from the UTMB®, two applications are available. LiveRun offers runners the race information they need for the proper management and success of their UTMB® event. As for LiveInfo, it is intended for spectators and crew members: it gives them access to a live monitoring in the field and remotely.
LIVEINFO
Known under the name of LiveTrail, this application has proved its worth amongst accompanying persons on the ground. Searches for runners, estimates of times of passage, following the race leader. With LiveInfo you have, in your pocket, an information post and more. It is the optimum means for following your runners along the route but also from a distance. The app has evolved and is producing new services amongst which the appearance of a premium version which allows for the reception of notifications of times of passage in real time. NOTIFICATIONS AT EACH CHECK POINT Receive a notification at each crossing point with your time, ranking and all the race information you need. FOLLOW YOUR FRIENDS Do your friends run the same race? Follow them to compare your positon and your time. Cross the line together or play the competition to the end! SUITABLE FOR CONNECTED WATCHES Notifications are simple and it is possible to set up your smartphone to display the alerts on your connected watch to keep the phone in your bag. INFORM OR CONTACT THE COMMAND CENTER Three buttons on the home page will help you to manage a problem during the race. Signal your abandon, send an SOS message or call the command center very easily.
LIVERUN
The app is essential for your security, and at the same time it gives you precious information about the race (follow your race and that of your friends in real time). In the case of SOS, this function sends your position, via text message, to the organization. This represents a precious time gain in providing help, if needed. Attention however, you will still have to call the race HQ (PC Course).
SET YOUR GHOST RACER (PREMIUM OPTION) Do you have a goal for your race? Set up a ghost runner according to your ITRA rating or a time target. You will receive notifications to inform you if you are on time for your goal. TRACKING GPS (PREMIUM OPTION) You can use your smartphone as a GPS beacon. The information will go directly to your runner file on the live tracking site. Set up the tracking so that it remains private (organization only), restricted to people with a password defined by you or the public.
