INTRO
The UTMB® Mont-Blanc is synonymous with sharing and fellowship among peo ples. This sharing takes place between runners from around the world, women and men from 5 continents and 100 nations. The last week of August in the villages and towns around Mont Blanc, you’ll meet American, Chinese, Japanese, Brazilian, Argentinean, Australian, Span ish, Omani, and South African runners ... All are welcome, and together they bring a cosmopolitan dimension that is at the heart of the event.
For 19 years, the inhabitants of the Mont-Blanc region have put this knowhow and expertise to work in the service of the UTMB® Mont-Blanc. It is thanks to their excellence and knowl edge of the territory that the event that is UTMB® Mont-Blanc is a logistical success which allows us to bring to life, over the course of one week, this territory of 3 countries, 18 communes, 7 valleys and 800 km of paths. In each of these regions, the energy of these men and women allows UTMB® Mont-Blanc to host, each year, no few er than 10,000 runners and 20,000 companions under ideal conditions. All come together around a common goal: to convey the values and the heritage of which they are so proud.

HERITAGE
The UTMB® Mont-Blanc at its core is a story of women and men. A great ad venture bonded by common values and vision, that of sharing and fellowship be tween peoples. The Mont Blanc region is one of those rare places where there remains a strong connection between the people and the great outdoors. It is this relationship to the environment that brings together the inhabitants of the Mont Blanc region around a common endeavor, that of sharing, across our orders and with other passionate people, their know-how and relationship to the mountain and its environs.
ETHICS Respect for people and the environ ment, mutual aid, equity and solida rity are the fundamental principles governing the organisation of the UTMB ® Mont-Blanc . These values take concrete form throughout the year, both locally and internationally. Consideration of the territories and municipalities crossed, respect for participants and volunteers, protection of the environment and the health of runners, implementation of charitable actions. All these initiatives have been made possible by the organisation, which since its creation has given priority to concrete actions such as the 160 bibs for solidarity, health and the environment worn by runners in 2022. More than ever, we wish to share these values and actions with all those who partici pate in the great UTMB® Mont-Blanc celebration.

CONTROL Each runner will be supplied with 2 electronic chips and a bracelet. Certain check points are automatic, others are manual. Unexpected controls will be carried out by the organization. Runners who are not permanently in possession of their chips and wrist-bands will be penalized.
The Race Stewards have the right to check your mandatory equipment at the start and at any point along the route. If you are missing an element of the mandatory safety equipment (no minimum water reserve of a minimum of 1 liter, no waterproof jacket with hood, no torch, no survival blanket, no mobile/cell phone) you will be immediately disqualified. To know more about the penalties, read the complete regulations on In case of exceptional or particular events, penalties will be decided with the race directors.
SPARE BAGS
As in previous years, the volunteers are there to help you, but also to ensure that the rules are respected. Among them are the Commissaires de Course (race stewards). Some of them have specific duties concerning the immediate application of real time penalties due if the rules are not respected. It is important to understand that the penalties which entail a stop are applied during the race! For the race leaders this represents a possible descent in the ranking, and the slowest runners this could mean missing the next time barrier.
«BRING YOUR OWN UTENSILS»
Race-bib distribution will take place in Chamonix or Courmayeur according to your choice. Attention: to claim your race bib, you must go in person, armed with: photographic identification, your race pack and all your obligatory equipment at the location you indicated on your runner page. The race-bib must be worn on your chest or stomach and must be permanently and com pletely visible throughout the duration of the race. The race bib must not be folded or cut. The race bib is the necessary pass to access shuttle buses, buses, aid stations, medical posts, rest areas, drop and pick-up areas for spares bags… The race bib must not be removed. In the case of an abandonment, it is deactivated by a member of the organization.
The organization will not distribute any disposable cutlery, beakers/cups or bowls at aid stations and refreshment posts. You are asked to carry your own utensils if you wish to eat hot food (soup, pasta).BYOU

(Attention: no spare bags in Champex) Neither walking poles, nor fragile or valuable objects, are to be placed in these bags. Only the bags provided by the organization will be allowed. Any delay in their repatriation is due to logistical constraints. A bag can be returned after the runner arrives in Chamonix, in particular in the case of abandonment early in the race. Thank you for being patient and respecting the work of the volunteers. ARE YOU SPONSORED? That’s great but you can strictly only display it on your clothes and equipment used during the race. • Buses are available from certain aid stations – marked by a “bus” pictogram on the event map - to repatriate runners who abandon back to Chamonix.
ATTENTION : if you see no way marker, retrace your steps! Paint restriction: to respect the environment no paint is used on the paths.
Except in the case of injury, you can abandon the race nowhere except at a check point. It is therefore MANDATORY that you inform the point team leader, who will definitively invalidate your race-bib and remove the electronic chip from your backpack. The runner keeps his invalidated race bib because it is still his pass for shuttles, buses, meals, care rooms. Repatriation will be decided on by the post leader, based on the following general rules:
REPATRIATION The organization cannot ensure repatriation by car or 4x4 (except for a medical reason or on the decision of the aid station team leader). Runners who abandon at a post in the mountains must, as soon as possible, and by their own means, go to the nearest point of repatriation where the UTMB®Bus are available.
Only runners who are wearing a visible race-bib, on their chest or stomach, and their bracelets will be allowed in to the aid stations. The organization only supplies still water or energizing drinks for filling water bottles/reserves. The other drinks are exclusively for consumption in situ.
• Furthermore, a hot dish is offered at Chapieux, Champex and Courmayeur for the UTMB® Mont Blanc. An end of the race meal is served in Chamonix.
The way markers are made of a yellow reflective material so that they catch the beam of your torch better at night. Since 2017, the organization’s team has used green way-markers. They are to remind you that you are moving through a naturally fragile zone.
• Runners who abandon at any another rescue or aid station but whose state of health does not necessitate being evacuated must get back as quickly as possible and by their own means to the closest repatriation point.
• Refreshments of drinks only: plain water, sparkling water, energizing drinks, cola, coffee, tea, noodle soup.

TIME BARRIERS
New : to provide better information, you may also declare your abandonment via the LiveRun by However, be aware that the abandonment procedure previously outlined also applies to runners who use this app.
REST AND SHOWERS
The times are calculated to allow participants to finish the race in the compulsory maximum time. They are indicated on the various signs put at your disposal. The hour announced at the time barrier is the latest time at which competitors may leave the checkpoint. The organization can, if it is a question of safety, modify the time barriers. The runners will be notified by text message and/or email. At a crossing point, no runner can continue the race behind the sweepers.
• In case of abandonment before a check point, it is imperative to return to the previous check point and inform the post leader of one’s abandonment. If, during the return, the runner meets the end of race sweepers, it is them who invalidate the race bib. The runner is then no longer under the organization’s control.
SIGN-POSTING
You may take a hot shower uniquely after you have finished the race. Along the race route, showers are only to be taken upon medical advice. The rest areas provided by the race organization, are strictly reserved for runners during the race or to those who have just finished their race. At the end of August, in the Mont-Blanc region, the weather can change very quickly. In these conditions it is difficult to forecast the weather conditions in a very precise or complete manner. So as to be always ready for the reality on the ground, and in order not to burden you unnecessarily, the organi zation has added three kits to the list of mandatory equipment. The «heat-wave», «winter» and «bad weather» kits are integrally a part of the obligatory equipment. According to the weather conditions, the organi zation can activate a kit and inform each participant before the opening of the race-bib distribution of their race. In order to retrieve their race-bib, each participant must therefore present their obligatory equipment, including the kit activated by the organization, and agree to keep it with them throughout the event.

1. One pack only throughout the race. Your pack will be tagged at the distribution of race bibs and you must keep it with you throughout the race.
2. Mobile phone (smartphone strongly recommended) the runner must be reachable at any time before, during and after the race: mobile phone with international roaming allowing for its use in the three countries (load into its memory the organization’s security numbers, don’t mask your number and don’t forget to take the start of your race with the battery fully charged). Keep the phone on, airplane mode is forbidden and could give rise to penalties. For smartphones: LiveRun application installed and activated. An external battery is highly recommended.

• The jacket must not have sections of fabric which are not waterproof, but air vents fitted by the manu facturer (under-arm, in the back), since they do not damage in any obvious way the impermeability, are accepted.
EATING` & DRINKING Hydration and the consumption of energizing snacks must be adapted to the meteorological conditions and enriched in salt throughout the effort. Keep a good balance between slow and rapid release sugars. Find our health advices on FATIGUE & VIGILANCE
Rest areas are available at aid stations for a few moments of sleep. It is dangerous to stop tosleep alone in open country. Fatigue and the lack of vigilance can cause an accident. Run within your limits (above all over the first part) saving your energy for later to surmount difficult situations which may arise, such as a sudden change of weather conditions.
The UTMB® Mont Blanc races are all take place in open country, in mountainous terrain, with some remote areas (no roads or telecommunications…) with weather conditions which can change very quickly even at the end of August (snow, hail, fog, heat (>30°) or intense cold (<-10°), violent wind). Advice along the route : -Do not stop at high peaks.

We would like to remind you that it is obligatory to be in possession of individual accident insurance which covers any eventual costs for search and rescue In France, Italy and Switzerland. (Repatriation by helicopter costs between 800 and 3000 euros). Such an insurance policy may be taken out with the organization of your choice.
Some common sense reminders for facing difficult weather -conditions:Anticipate the cold as well as extreme heat - Don’t wait to shiver before covering yourself up - Don’t change in full wind: anticipate or wait to be sheltered - Protect yourself against the sun Walking poles: watch what you do with your poles particularly at the beginning of the race when there is a high human density. Do not wear the wrist straps on the descents: in case of a rough fall wrist-straps prevent the suitable use of the hands (injuries to shoulders, wrists, forearms or more seriously the head).
In 2022, UTMB creates its own insurance! For 49€ / year, you are covered for rescue, evacuation and medical care (including helicopter rescue) all over the world. Subscribe here:

24 SAFETY RACESTHE
Check that the number you have given us as an emergency contact number is that of the person who you wish to be contacted in case of a problem. Very important: In order to improve any medical intervention in case of an incident, verify that you have submitted, on your runner’s page, the telephone number that will be using during the race. You can update it until the start of your race. It is mandatory that you don’t leave a person in difficulty alone.
LIVERUN It gives you precious information about the race (follow your race and that of your friends in real time). In the case of SOS, this function sends your position, via text message, to the organization. This represents a precious time gain in providing help, if needed. Attention however, you will still have to call the race HQ (PC Course).
A mobile/cell phone is mandatory with the international optional activated throughout the duration of the race, with the battery wor king well. In no circumstances put your phone in airplane mode because we need to be able to contact you before, during and after the event. Smartphones are highly recom mended in order to use the LiveRun by LiveTrail® app which is essential for your safety. For runners who are going to be running for more than 15 hours, an additional external battery is highly recommended.

A nature reserve is an area which constitutes a reservoir of remarkable and fragile bio-diversity. In the Haute Savoie, they are managed by the association ASTERS (the Conservatory of the Haute Savoie’s natural areas).
RESPECT OF THE PROTECTED NATURAL AREAS
You are requested to stay on the main paths so as to protect the nature around you, avoid aggravating the erosion or disturbing the protected flora and fauna.
To reduce consumption of plastic, both by runners and UTMB® Mont-Blanc volunteers, and therefore limit your carbon footprint and your waste production, the organi zation will not distribute any more disposable crockery (cutlery, beakers, bowls) at the check points and the aid stations (this rules is also valid for the volunteers). This action called « Bring Your Own Utensils « (BYOU) was first implemented at the Vibram Hong Kong 100 in January 2018. You are, therefore, invited to bring you own utensils if you wish to eat hot food at the aid stations. The UTMB® Mont-Blanc races cross protected natural zones and areas:
On approaching these zones, pay particular attention to your behaviour so as not to frighten the animals: don’t wave your arms or poles, don’t shout and slow down. POLES Hiking poles are forbidden in certain fragile sectors to avoid degradation of the site. These areas are marked by specific signs.

RESPECTING THE REGULATIONS AND THE RACE STEWARDS
As in previous years, the volunteers are there to help you, but also to ensure that the rules are respected. Among them are the Commissaires de Course (race stewards). Some of them have specific duties concerning the immediate application of real time penalties due if the rules are not respected. It is important to understand that the penalties which entail a stop are applied during the race! For the race leaders this represents a possible descent in the ranking, and the slowest runners this could mean missing the next time barrier.
«BRING YOUR OWN UTENSILS» The organization will not distribute any disposable cutlery, beakers/cups or bowls at aid stations and refreshment posts. You are asked to carry your own utensils if you wish to eat hot food (soup, pasta).BYOU
UTMBMONTBLANC.COM
PORATBLE CUP Designed to avoid wastage of disposable cups throughout the race, each runner must provide their own, with a minimum capacity of 15cl. Attention, gourds/water bottles or water flasks with screw/clip top are not accepted as beakers!
SPARE BAGS

CONTROL Each runner will be supplied with 2 electronic chips and a bracelet. Certain check points are automatic, others are manual. Unexpected controls will be carried out by the organization. Runners who are not permanently in possession of their chips and wrist-bands will be penalized.
SIGN-POSTING
• Refreshments of drinks only: plain water, sparkling water, energizing drinks, cola, coffee, tea, noodle soup.
• Furthermore, a hot dish is offered at Champex. An end of the race meal is served in Chamonix.
ABANDONMENT
Only runners who are wearing a visible race-bib, on their chest or stomach, and their bracelets will be allowed in to the aid stations. The organization only supplies still water or energizing drinks for filling water bottles/reserves. The other drinks are exclusively for consumption in situ.
The organization cannot ensure repatriation by car or 4x4 (except for a medical reason or on the decision of the aid station team leader). Runners who abandon at a post in the mountains must, as soon as possible, and by their own means, go to the nearest point of repatriation where the UTMB®Bus are available.
REST AND SHOWERS
• Runners who abandon at any another rescue or aid station but whose state of health does not necessitate being evacuated must get back as quickly as possible and by their own means to the closest repatriation point.
• In case of abandonment before a check point, it is imperative to return to the previous check point and inform the post leader of one’s abandonment. If, during the return, the runner meets the end of race sweepers, it is them who invalidate the race bib. The runner is then no longer under the organization’s control. New : to provide better information, you may also declare your abandonment via the LiveRun by However, be aware that the abandonment procedure previously outlined also applies to runners who use this app.
• Complete refreshments: drinks (as above) + cereal or energizing bars, sweet cakes, chocolate, bananas, oranges, raisins, prunes, salty biscuits, cheese, salami, bread.
ATTENTION : if you see no way marker, retrace your steps! Paint restriction: to respect the environment no paint is used on the paths.
You may take a hot shower uniquely after you have finished the race. Along the race route, showers are only to be taken upon medical advice. The rest areas provided by the race organization, are strictly reserved for runners during the race or to those who have just finished their race. They in no way constitute the solution for an entire night’s accommodation. Access to the rest will only be possible for runners who have their own sleeping bag.
3 types of refreshments will be available:
Except in the case of injury, you can abandon the race nowhere except at a check point. It is therefore MANDATORY that you inform the point team leader, who will definitively invalidate your race-bib and remove the electronic chip from your backpack. The runner keeps his invalidated race bib because it is still his pass for shuttles, buses, meals, care rooms. Repatriation will be decided on by the post leader, based on the following general rules:
• Buses are available from certain aid stations – marked by a “bus” pictogram on the event map - to repatriate runners who abandon back to Chamonix.

RACESTHE
A mobile/cell phone is mandatory with the international optional activated throughout the duration of the race, with the battery working well. In no circumstances put your phone in airplane mode because we need to be able to contact you before, during and after the event. Smartphones are highly recommended in order to use the LiveRun by LiveTrail® app which is essential for your safety. For runners who are going to be running for more than 15 hours, an additional external battery is highly recommended.
It is mandatory that you don’t leave a person in difficulty
SAFETY
In order to better understand the natural environment that you are crossing, we have created a specific sign-posting system. So, as you approach a herd/flock of animals or a naturally fragile zone, you will be informed by the sign-posts.
HERDS/FLOCKS
To reduce consumption of plastic, both by runners and UTMB® Mont Blanc volunteers, and therefore limit your carbon footprint and your waste production, the organi zation will not distribute any more disposable crockery (cutlery, beakers, bowls) at the check points and the aid stations (this rules is also valid for the volunteers). This action called « Bring Your Own Utensils « (BYOU) was first implemented at the Vibram Hong Kong 100 in January 2018. You are, therefore, invited to bring you own utensils if you wish to eat hot food at the aid stations. The UTMB® Mont Blanc races cross protected natural zones and areas: 5 Nature Reserves
On approaching these zones, pay particular attention to your behaviour so as not to frighten the animals: don’t wave your arms or poles, don’t shout and slow down. POLES Hiking poles are forbidden in certain fragile sectors to avoid degradation of the site. These areas are marked by specific signs.

RACESTHE
2 bags. 1 bag to put in just before the start of the race the things you don’t need and which is brought back to Chamonix. 1 bag to bring your personal belongings to the Beaufort. During the race, you must pick up your bag when you arrive at Le Beaufort and put it back in the appropriate place when you leave so that it can be brought back to Chamonix. Both bags must be left near the start.Neither walking poles, nor fragile or valuable objects, are to be placed in these bags.
46 REGULATIONS
The Race Stewards have the right to check your mandatory equipment at the start and at any point along the route. If you are missing an element of the mandatory safety equipment (no minimum water reserve of a minimum of 1 liter, no waterproof jacket with hood, no torch, no survival blanket, no mobile/cell phone) you will be immediately disqualified. To know more about the penalties, read the complete regulations on In case of exceptional or particular events, penalties will be decided with the race directors.
PORATBLE CUP Designed to avoid wastage of disposable cups throughout the race, each runner must provide their own, with a minimum capacity of 15cl. Attention, gourds/water bottles or water flasks with screw/clip top are not accepted as beakers!
Help us to conserve the natural surroundings; do not drop your litter along the race route. We all share the responsibility of keeping our play-ground clean. Do not forget to carry bag in which to put your rubbish between two rubbish-bin points.
That’s great but you can strictly only display it on your clothes and equipment used during the race. No flags in the name of X, or banners for Y.
UTMBMONTBLANC.COM
RESPECTING THE REGULATIONS AND THE RACE STEWARDS
ENVIRONMENT
CONTROL Each runner will be supplied with 2 electronic chips and a bracelet. Certain check points are automatic, others are manual. Unexpected controls will be carried out by the organization. Runners who are not permanently in possession of their chips and wrist-bands will be penalized.
The organization will not distribute any disposable cutlery, beakers/cups or bowls at aid stations and refreshment posts. You are asked to carry your own utensils if you wish to eat hot food (soup, pasta).BYOU SPARE BAGS
The organization cannot ensure repatriation by car or 4x4 (except for a medical reason or on the decision of the aid station team leader). Runners who abandon at a post in the mountains must, as soon as possible, and by their own means, go to the nearest point of repatriation where the UTMB®Bus are available.
• Furthermore, a hot dish is offered at Beaufort
The times are calculated to allow participants to finish the race in the compulsory maximum time. They are indicated on the various signs put at your disposal. The hour announced at the time barrier is the latest time at which competitors may leave the checkpoint. The organization can, if it is a question of safety, modify the time barriers. The runners will be notified by text message and/or email. At a crossing point, no runner can continue the race behind the sweepers.
The way markers are made of a yellow reflective material so that they catch the beam of your torch better at night. Since 2017, the organization’s team has used green way-markers. They are to remind you that you are moving through a naturally fragile zone.
ATTENTION : if you see no way marker, retrace your steps! Paint restriction: to respect the environment no paint is used on the paths.

ABANDONMENT
• In case of abandonment before a check point, it is imperative to return to the previous check point and inform the post leader of one’s abandonment. If, during the return, the runner meets the end of race sweepers, it is them who invalidate the race bib. The runner is then no longer under the organization’s control. New : to provide better information, you may also declare your abandonment via the LiveRun by However, be aware that the abandonment procedure previously outlined also applies to runners who use this app.
REFRESHMENTS
• Refreshments of drinks only: plain water, sparkling water, energizing drinks, cola, coffee, tea, noodle soup.
TIME BARRIERS
SIGN-POSTING
• Complete refreshments: drinks (as above) + cereal or energizing bars, sweet cakes, chocolate, bananas, oranges, raisins, prunes, salty biscuits, cheese, salami, bread.

REPATRIATION
REST AND SHOWERS
You may take a hot shower uniquely after you have finished the race. Along the race route, showers are only to be taken upon medical advice. The rest areas provided by the race organization, are strictly reserved for runners during the race or to those who have just finished their race. They in no way constitute the solution for an entire night’s accommodation. Access to the rest will only be possible for runners who have their own sleeping bag.
• Buses are available from certain aid stations – marked by a “bus” pictogram on the event map - to repatriate runners who abandon back to Chamonix.
LIVETRAIL®
• Runners who abandon at any another rescue or aid station but whose state of health does not necessitate being evacuated must get back as quickly as possible and by their own means to the closest repatriation point.

Help us to conserve the natural surroundings; do not drop your litter along the race route. We all share the responsibility of keeping our play-ground clean. Do not forget to carry bag in which to put your rubbish between two rubbish-bin points.
CONTROL Each runner will be supplied with 2 electronic chips and a bracelet. Certain check points are automatic, others are manual. Unexpected controls will be carried out by the organization. Runners who are not permanently in possession of their chips and wrist-bands will be penalized.
«BRING YOUR OWN UTENSILS» The organization will not distribute any disposable cutlery, beakers/cups or bowls at aid stations and refreshment posts. You are asked to carry your own utensils if you wish to eat hot food (soup, pasta).BYOU
RACE-BIBS Race-bib distribution will take place in Chamonix or Orsières according to your choice.
ENVIRONMENT
If you are missing an element of the mandatory safety equipment (no minimum water reserve of a minimum of 1 liter, no waterproof jacket with hood, no torch, no survival blanket, no mobile/cell phone) you will be immediately disqualified. To know more about the penalties, read the complete regulations on In case of exceptional or particular events, penalties will be decided with the race directors.
60 REGULATIONS
PORTABLE CUP Designed to avoid wastage of disposable cups throughout the race, each runner must provide their own, with a minimum capacity of 15cl. Attention, gourds/water bottles or water flasks with screw/clip top are not accepted as beakers!
It is important to understand that the penalties which entail a stop are applied during the race! For the race leaders this represents a possible descent in the ranking, and the slowest runners this could mean missing the next time barrier. The Race Stewards have the right to check your mandatory equipment at the start and at any point along the route.
REST & SHOWERS
Again, to insure equality between competitors, whatever their position, it is forbidden to be accompanied during all or part of the race by a person who is not a participant, outside of the zones of tolerance which are clearly marked in proximity to the aid stations. This authorizes short walks for family and friends but forbids pace setters. Race stewards are positioned at several points along the route and can give real time penalties if the regulations are not respected.

SIGN POSTING
• In case of abandonment before a check point, it is imperative to return to the previous check point and inform the post leader of one’s abandonment. If, during the return, the runner meets the end of race sweepers, it is them who invalidate the race bib. The runner is then no longer under the organization’s control.

- If you can’t see any way-marker: turn around and go back to the previous marker. -Follow the marked paths. EQUIPEMENT
ENVIRONMENT & WEATHER
Rest areas are available at aid stations for a few moments of sleep. It is dangerous to stop tosleep alone in open country. Fatigue and the lack of vigilance can cause an accident. Run within your limits (above all over the first part) saving your energy for later to surmount difficult situations which may arise, such as a sudden change of weather conditions.

A mobile/cell phone is mandatory with the international optional activated throughout the duration of the race, with the battery working well. In no circumstances put your phone in airplane mode because we need to be able to contact you before, during and after the event.
The UTMB® Mont Blanc races cross protected natural zones and areas: 5 Nature Reserves A nature reserve is an area which constitutes a reservoir of remarkable and fragile bio-diversity. In the Haute Savoie, they are managed by the association ASTERS (the Conservatory of the Haute Savoie’s natural areas).
®UTMBMONT-BLANC 65
In order to better understand the natural environment that you are crossing, we have created a specific sign-posting system. So, as you approach a herd/flock of animals or a naturally fragile zone, you will be informed by the sign-posts.
6 Natura 2000 sites Natura 2000 is a European program creating a network of land and marine sites identified for the rarity or the fragility of the wild animal or plant species, and their habitats. 1 Franc district In the Swiss territory the Franc districts have the aim of the protection and conservation of rare and threatened wild mammals and birds as well as the protection and conservation of their habitats.
On approaching these zones, pay particular attention to your behaviour so as not to frighten the animals: don’t wave your arms or poles, don’t shout and slow down. POLES Hiking poles are forbidden in certain fragile sectors to avoid degradation of the site. These areas are marked by specific signs.

*minimum recommended 10 000 Schmerber **RET recommended inferior to 13 *** it is possible to use the same glasses if they are suited both to the sun and bad weather (such as glasses with photochromatic lenses) THE HOT WEATHER KIT

Some common sense reminders for facing difficult weather -conditions:Anticipate the cold as well as extreme heat
Hydration and the consumption of energizing snacks must be adapted to the meteorological conditions and enriched in salt throughout the effort. Keep a good balance between slow and rapid release sugars. Find our health advices on FATIGUE & VIGILANCE
-If you can’t see any way-marker: turn around and go back to the previous marker. -Follow the marked paths. EQUIPEMENT
Walking poles: watch what you do with your poles particularly at the beginning of the race when there is a high human density. Do not wear the wrist straps on the descents: in case of a rough fall wrist-straps prevent the suitable use of the hands (injuries to shoulders, wrists, forearms or more seriously the head).

Very important: In order to improve any medical intervention in case of an incident, verify that you have submitted, on your runner’s page, the telephone number that will be using during the race. You can update it until the start of your race.
RACESTHE
A mobile/cell phone is mandatory with the international op tional activated throughout the duration of the race, with the battery working well.

The event’s final ranking will take into account the accumulation of the time taken for the race and any penalty points which are applied.
All accompanying and assistance is strictly forbidden along the route of the YCC.
Participants are an important first link in the chain for safety on the course. There are several medical stations along the route. The participants are the first link in the rescue chain. They must provide assistance by quickly and correctly in the event of an accident (witness or victim) to the race HQ by telephone (telephone number can be found on each participant’s race bib). Teams of first-aid workers are in liaison with race headquarters and are present on the course to provide assistance as soon as necessary. A medical team is also present throughout the race and can intervene if necessary on the course by any any appropriate means, including by helicopter if required. The medical and rescue services or the conventional services services have thr right to void or withdraw a race bib and force the withdrawal of any participant who is unfit to continue the race. The costs resulting from the use of exceptional rescue or evacuation means shall be borne by the person rescued, who must also ensure his or her own return from the place where he or she was rescued or evacuated. ARE YOU SPONSORED? That’s great but you can strictly only display it on your clothes and equipment used during the race. No flags in the name of X, or banners for Y.

ACCOMPAGNYING AND ASSISTANCE
CONTROLLING AND ABANDONING
It is imperative that you follow the paths with the markers without taking short cuts. Taking short cuts of the paths leads to erosion which damages the site. All participants must keep their rubbish and wrappers with them until they can throw them in the bins at an aid station. Runners should carry a bag or pouch to carry their waste until the next bin. Plastic bags for soiled paper are handed out with the race-bibs. They must be used for collecting any paper used during any urgent need along the route.

PENALTIES – DISQUALIFICATION
SHOWERS Showers will be accessible for YCC runners at Courmayeur Sport Center.
RACE BIBS
The YCC is to be run in autonomy. Drinks will be available at the La Suche check point and a full refreshment point at the arrival in Courmayeur.
Following their abandonment, each runner whose state of health does not require an evacuation, must return as quickly as possible, by their own means, to the finishing area.
98 REGULATIONS
Each number is given individually to each runner on presenta tion of : - A photo ID, - Your race bag and all compulsory equipment. The number must be collected in Courmayeur at the Dolonne Sports Centre or in Chamonix. The place to pick up the number is to be reserved from the runner’s area. The number must be worn on the chest or stomach and must be visible at all times throughout the race. The number may not be folded or cut out. The race number will be the necessary pass for access to the shuttles, buses, refreshment areas, infirmaries, rest rooms, bag drop-off and pick-up areas, etc. The race number must not be removed. In case of withdrawal, it will be deactivated by a member of the organisation.
Checks (controls) will be carried out during the event to ensure that that the participants are followed and to ensure the regularity of the race. Participants must, obligatorily, pass these check points and present themselves (race-bib visible) to the controllers and follow their instructions. The first automatic control is made when crossing the starting line. To avoid sending out unnesscessary search parties, and causing others to worry about your well-being, all participants are asked to notify their abandonment as soon as possible, at a control post or by telephone to the race HQ (PC course).
To reduce consumption of plastic, both by runners and UTMB® Mont Blanc volunteers, and therefore limit your carbon foot print and your waste production, the organization will not distribute any more disposable crockery (cutlery, beakers, bowls) at the check points and the aid stations (this rules is also valid for the volunteers). This action called « Bring Your Own Ustensils « (BYOU) was first implemented at the Vibram Hong Kong 100 in January 2018. You are, therefore, invited to bring you own utensils if you wish to eat hot food at the aid stations.BYOU
