The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is on a trajectory to become a university of the future in the city of the future, redefining higher education by producing career-ready graduates, providing degrees with a strong return on investment and driving economic development for our region.
Restoration of Institutional Enhancement
Support for Institutional Enhancement funding is critical to attracting and retaining accomplished faculty in support of UTSA’s enrollment goals and to advance the university’s focus on student success and research excellence.
College of AI, Cyber and Computing
Funding Request:
$16,000,000 per year
UTSA’s new college will serve as an innovation ecosystem for high-impact research and applied technology development to expand the university’s research reputation and further mature and expand public/private collaborations.
Formula Funding
Over the last year, UTSA’s enrollment has increased 2.5-3.0%. An adjusted higher education funding formula that recognizes institutional growth and inflation rates is critical to UTSA’s trajectory as a nationally recognized research university and model for student success.

San Antonio Life Sciences Institute (SALSI)
Additional Funding Request: $7,000,000 per year
Enables competitive grant proposals to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and builds Texas’ health sciences workforce in neuroscience, cancer prevention, infection disease and regenerative medicine.
National Research Support Fund (NRSF)
To elevate UTSA’s research enterprise toward national relevance and strengthen Texas’ leadership in AI, cybersecurity, data analytics, brain health, and space science, consistent and reliable funding is crucial. Key to this goal will be making the NRSF a permanent fund.

Albert Carrisalez
UT School of Public Health San Antonio
UTSA and UT Health San Antonio have created a powerful new school to provide the skills and training to address the disparate healthcare landscape emerging across Texas.
The State’s investment would match the combined $20 million investment from Bexar County and the City of San Antonio.
Interdisciplinary Research Complex
A new 131,500 gsf complex that will provide an additional 85,475 assignable square feet to house a comprehensive suite of specialized research facilities. The new complex is critical element in the university’s strategic plan and is needed to compete with aspirant peers in the prestigious Association of American Universities.
