THE C R U

Accusations of witchcraft turn neighbor against neighbor in 17th century Salem, Massachusetts. The malicious trials that follow reflect the mob psychology of a community paralyzed by terror, in which piety and righteousness are masks for malevolent greed and self-interest. The Crucible was originally written as an allegory for 1950s McCarthyism and the House Committee on Un-American Activities, which accused thousands of Americans of being communists or communist sympathizers. The Tony Award-winning masterpiece continues to resonate in our society today.

THE DROWSY CHAP D E C . 7–10 B. IDEN PAYNE THEATRE

When a theatre fan introduces his favorite piece, the fictitious 1928 hit The Drowsy Chaperone, the characters come to life in this hilarious musical farce. Hailed by New York Magazine as “the perfect Broadway musical,” the Tony Award-winner is a masterful meta-musical, poking fun at all the tropes that characterize the musical theatre genre. Original Broadway production of The Drowsy Chaperone produced by Kevin McCollum, Roy Miller, Bob Boyett, Stephanie McClelland, Barbara Freitag and Jill Furman. The Drowsy Chaperone is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
