Karlstad
Written by Patrick Shaw Directed by Tamara Carroll Jennifer Pacheco – Stage Manager When IKEA apologized for allowing the German Democratic Republic (GDR) to fill manufacturing contracts with criminals and political prisoners in 2012, I couldn’t stop thinking about my move to New York City. I thought of all the blankly modern IKEA furniture I proudly assembled. Thirty years prior, I would have been completing a manufacturing process begun by citizens that had been abducted by the Ministry for State Security (Stasi). Now, those victims are about the age of my father or grandfather, and I have to wonder: where does all this stuff come from anyway? —Patrick Shaw

He holds me well; The better shall my purpose work on him.” —William Shakespeare, Othello (Act I, Scene III) In a world where so much has changed, what is exactly the same? What lasts beyond? With the blessings of Gonemen, we carry on.

Lyla School
Written by Brian Kettler Directed by Jess Hutchinson Allie Van Niman – Stage Manager When I worked at an elementary school, one of my favorite sayings was “we don’t have bad kids here; we have good kids who have bad days.” Lyla School is about two good kids going through some tough times. It’s a little sad and a little sweet. In childhood, we experience a million small deaths. This play attempts to capture a few of those moments. Welcome to Lyla School. —Brian Kettler
