Cambodia/Thailand The Education Abroad Network Host Universities: Pannasastra University of Cambodia and Chang Mai University From the green hills of Northern Thailand, to the bustling streets of Cambodia’s Phnom Penh this program splits time between both fascinating countries. Gain a better understanding of the region during your first two months in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Then, continue on to Cambodia, where coursework emphasizes the recent history of the country while also getting a first-hand glimpse of dynamic Khmer civilization. Learn both Thai and Cambodian languages and enroll in courses such as business, gender studies, political science, and urban studies.
China Studies Institute (CSI) Host University: Peking University Located in Beijing, the CSI program is hosted by Peking University, one of the most prestigious academic institutions in China. Enroll in a Mandarin language course and hone your language skills by opting to live with a Chinese roommate. Looking for real-world experience? Enhance your learning with a meaningful internship placement at a local company. This immersive program includes at least 6 credits of Japanese language as well as courses in economics, psychology, history and other area courses, which are taught in English. Take Japanese language classes with other exchange students from around the world and enroll in courses with a mix of exchange and domestic students. Chiba coordinates tutors for all international students, enabling you to practice Japanese and engage in local culture in a meaningful way.
Host University: Hosei University From neon-lit skyscrapers to the Imperial Palace, explore Japan like you’ve always imagined. Located in the heart of Tokyo, Hosei University was founded in 1880. The Exchange Student from Overseas Program (ESOP) provides meaningful academic and cultural exchange opportunities to students through language acquisition and area-studies classes. In addition to Japanese language courses, enroll in business, communication, international studies, political science, and psychology classes. Attend classes with international and Japanese students. Interact with locals through a variety of cultural events.
Host University: Japan Center for Michigan Universities (JCMU) If you’re looking for a slice of Japanese life outside of a big metropolis, this program may be for you. Located on the shores of Lake Biwa (the largest freshwater lake in Japan), the city of Hikone is a rural castle town of about 100,000 people. Take 10 credits of Japanese language as well as one or two elective courses in subjects such as art, economics, history, political science, and religious studies. Daily Japanese language instruction will sharpen your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Each level of instruction is designed to help improve your proficiency through a combination of in-class instruction and outside activities. Live in a residence hall or deepen your cultural exposure through a homestay placement.
Host University: Nanzan University Centrally located between Toyko and Osaka, Nanzan University is nestled atop the rolling hills that overlook greater Nagoya, a metropolis of over 7 million residents. The Center for Japanese Studies (CJS) at Nanzan University is dedicated to providing students a thorough understanding of Japanese culture and language. The CJS program offers intensive Japanese language instruction and English-taught courses in business, economics, history, culture, politics and general area studies. Students with high Japanese proficiency may choose to take subject courses taught in Japanese.
JAPAN IS MADE UP OF 6,852 ISLANDS. Host University: Seijo University A private institution, Seijo University is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in southwest Tokyo. The academic program for exchange students at Seijo includes intensive Japanese language instruction in the first semester followed by direct enrollment at Seijo University. In this program, you may enroll in most regular undergraduate courses taught in Japanese. The majority of students in this exchange program come from other Asian countries or other non-English speaking countries. The limited opportunities to speak English mean that you receive a wonderfully immersive experience and return home with dramatically improved Japanese language skills.
Singapore The Education Abroad Network Host University: Singapore Management University (SMU) As the economic hub of Southeast Asia, Singapore is uniquely positioned at the crossroads between the East and West. With soaring skyscrapers forming an impressive skyline right next to tiny traditional lanes best explored on foot, the city is an exciting mix of history and modernity, local living and global aspirations. SMU’s seminar-style approach to instruction keeps classes small, stimulating, interactive and encourages critical thinking. Enroll in a wide-range of courses in areas such as business, communications, media, humanities, social sciences, international studies, science, and performing arts.
South Korea Host University: Ajou University Explore the city of Suwon, the only completely walled city in South Korea. Ajou University offers nearly 100 courses taught in English. Classes are designed to provide an excellent opportunity for both international and Korean students to study their chosen fields in an international atmosphere. Courses are offered in business, social sciences, information technology, and international studies. Ajou also offers courses in multiple areas of engineering. A variety of cultural trips and social activities will enrich your experience.
Host Univeristy: Korea University – Sejong Campus Attend KU-Sejong and immerse yourself in Korean culture. KUSejong has courses in a wide range of areas such as humanities, business, economics, science, technology, pharmacy, and public administration. Get scholarship support by participating in the International Town at Sejong (ITS) program, which connects students at KU-Sejong with university students from abroad to practice English. KU-Sejong is located in the small town of Jochiwon and is easily accessible by either train or bus.
