the Middle east & North Africa are regions with thousands of years of history,

incredible architecture, and amazing feats of engineering. A region of rapidly developing economies and diverse cultures, its economic and political significance is on the rise. If you're interested in a new experience that provides foreign language acquisition, architecture, history, culture, music, food – it has something to offer you, regardless of major or area of study. Israel Host University: Ben-Gurion University Named after David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first prime minister, BGU was founded in 1969 and is located in the southern part of Israel, a desert region that composes approximately 60% of the country’s landmass. Study Hebrew language, in addition to choosing from a variety of English-taught courses in Jewish and Israel studies, conservation and environmental science, political science, history, anthropology, Arabic, arts and literature, global health, and ecology. Students who have adequate knowledge of Hebrew are welcome to enroll in any undergraduate class offered in Hebrew. To complement your academic studies, you are encouraged to participate in volunteer service, which will deepen your knowledge and exposure to Israel and its people.

Host University: Hebrew University Enjoy vibrant architecture, food and street life while exploring historic neighborhoods. Hebrew University is located in Jerusalem, where East meets West, and Judaism, Christianity, and Islam thrive. Course offerings include Jewish, Israel and Middle Eastern studies as well as brain and behavioral sciences, and environmental studies. Literary and Colloquial Arabic are also offered at various levels. Students must select at least one course in Jewish or Israel studies. Modern Hebrew language instruction is required. Students with a sufficient knowledge of Hebrew are exempted from Hebrew language instruction but are required to take at least one course taught in Hebrew.

Jordan AMIDEAST Area and Arabic Language Studies in Jordan Host University: Qasid Arabic Institute Jordan is deeply involved in the international relations of the region, sharing land borders with Iraq, Israel, Palestine and Saudi Arabia. Built on seven hills, the city of Amman has expanded in size and population from a quaint sleepy town at the close of World War II, to the bustling, multicultural metropolis it is today. Study fascinating Middle East topics while based in the Abdoun district. Course selections include anthropology, environmental science, history, economics, political science, and religious studies. Take part in organized excursions to strikingly beautiful historic locations such as Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea, and deepen your cultural experience while living with a local Jordanian family.

Morocco AMIDEAST Al-Akhawayn Host University: Al-Akhawayn University Al-Akhawayn is a private Moroccan university that is patterned on the American system of higher education. Participate in an in-depth, three week-long pre-semester program in the capital city of Rabat. This pre-semester program is designed to introduce you to Moroccan Arabic, Moroccan culture, and daily life and get you familiar with the logistics of the program. You stay with a Moroccan host family during this time. Afterwards, move to the city of Ifrane to attend Al-Akhawayn University for the rest of the semester. Course offerings include business, humanities, social science, and computer engineering among others.

AMIDEAST Area and Arabic Language Studies in Morocco Host University: Mohammed V University This program is located in Rabat, one of Morocco’s imperial cities as well as its political capital. Rabat exemplifies Morocco’s unique cultural blend of Arab, the indigenous Amazigh (Berber), and European influences. Mohammed V University is an international academic leader, and is committed to the global exchange of ideas and people. Enroll in Modern Standard Arabic and Moroccan Arabic and select two or three electives from offerings in Middle East and North African studies or a variety of other disciplines. Your experience in Morocco will be enriched by living with a host family and connecting with the culture on a deeper level.
