PECK SCHOOL OF THE ARTS

As the largest comprehensive arts school in the UW System, PSOA has been recognized as one of Hollywood Reporter’s “Top 25 American Film Schools,” Variety’s “Best Film Schools” and ranks among the Best Fine Arts Schools by U.S. News & World Report. Our faculty are active artists with deep industry connections providing opportunities to collaborate with a supportive and diverse arts community located in Wisconsin’s cultural capital.

As a major metropolitan business school, the Lubar College offers MBA and MS Management programs that help rising business professionals advance in their careers in general management, IT management, marketing, finance, accounting, and other career specializations. Wisconsin's premier school of urban education, offers a variety of certificate, master’s, doctoral and interdisciplinary programs that prepare students to be leaders in their profession. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & APPLIED SCIENCE

UWM is one of only two public universities in Wisconsin offering engineering degrees through the doctoral level. Our programs apply R1 research excellence to high-demand focus areas, including energy and sustainability, biomedical and health, infrastructure, water and transportation technologies and advanced manufacturing. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella earned his master's degree in Computer Science from UWM. Close to $500,000 in funding is awarded to engineering and computer science students annually.

SCHOOL OF FRESHWATER SCIENCES

Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, the School of Freshwater Sciences provides a unique opportunity to study complex freshwater ecosystems, atmospheric processes and climate change. Our programs teach students how to apply science and policy to address the environmental challenges our communities face. We offer traditional master’s and PhD programs in freshwater sciences and atmospheric science, as well as a professional science master’s in freshwater science.

COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

The largest college of its kind in the midwest includes topranked programs such as athletic training, biomedical sciences, communication sciences and disorders, health care administration and informatics, kinesiology, occupational therapy and physical therapy.

SCHOOL OF INFORMATION STUDIES

A pioneer of online education, the school offers an ALA-accredited Master of Library and Information Science -- ranked 14th in the nation by U.S. News & World Report – an MS in Information Science and Technology and a PhD in Information Studies. Our innovative academic experiences are rooted in service and lead to rewarding future-ready careers in the library and information technology professions. Programs are available fully online.

COLLEGE OF LETTERS AND SCIENCE

This college is the home of the natural sciences, social sciences, and the humanities. It is the powerhouse of research on campus – in fiscal year 2022, more than $56.6M in research activity occurred at UWM, of which more than 52% was in the Letters & Science disciplines. The school has the largest breadth of academic programs and scholarly research – more than 55 graduate and post-baccalaureate programs, including certificates, master’s and doctoral degrees, and joint interdisciplinary degrees.

COLLEGE OF NURSING

Wisconsin’s largest nursing school is consistently ranked in the top 15 percent of graduate nursing programs by U.S. News & World Report. Over $500,000 of funding is made available to nursing students annually. From pediatrics to geriatrics, community clinics to hospitals, our faculty partners with students to conduct research and scholarship that advances science in nursing and health to transform health care delivery and health policy.

JOSEPH J. ZILBER SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH

Wisconsin’s only nationally accredited public health school offers graduate education in five areas of study: biostatistics, community and behavioral health promotion, environmental health sciences, epidemiology, and public health policy.

HELEN BADER SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WELFARE

One of the few schools in the nation to combine social work and criminal justice & criminology, the Helen Bader School supports an array of cross-disciplinary and specialized programming. HBSSW offers a combined Masters in Social Work and Criminal Justice & Criminology, an online Masters in Social Work, and the only Social Welfare PhD with a specialization in criminal justice in the state of Wisconsin. Fundamental to social welfare in Milwaukee and with established regional connections, the school provides extensive field placement opportunities, research, and community connections.
