AGED CARE VISIT ORGANIZER Regis Aged Care Visit provides residents of Regis Park Lodge entertainment and companionship. We run the visits monthly, usually on Saturday afternoons throughout the year. A band is put together and classic songs from the 80s are sung. 8-10 students usually attend the visit.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The organizer is the one who plans and ensures that the dates for the monthly visits are fixed with the centre. The band is also well planned in advance. Pianist, lead singer are the same people and the rest of the group can be back up singers. They need to be able to work together, hence a practice beforehand would be ideal. The organizer also needs to be cautious of time during the visit. As there are two floors that the group needs to go to, time needs to be well handled. Also, the lead singer would need some rest time as 2 hours of constant singing is very tiring. Hence, a backup singer or if the organizer if comfortable with singing, it would be good to take over as well.

BUILDING PERFORMANCE AUDIT VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION: You will be volunteering with Sustainable Energy Now UWA (SEN) - a guild affiliated club. SEN is working to raise awareness of how a mix of renewable energy technologies are able to meet all of Western Australia’s energy needs, with a particular focus on WA’s main electricity grid, called the South West Interconnected System. This is an awesome opportunity for you to learn the skills demanded of sustainability and building services graduates. Being able to show that you have experience in this work gives you a serious advantage when applying for consultancy jobs in the sustainability field. You will also learn widely-applicable technical and non-technical skills such as time management and communication. You will also be able to make a significant difference to how the University goes about saving energy, water and waste. The University will feed this information into its refurbishment program. Whenever significant refurbishments of buildings are done, the refurbishment will aim to improve that building’s sustainability level using the information compiled in the audit. For example, in 2014, the University used information from a previous audit to implement LED lighting in the Bayliss Building, saving 135 tonnes of CO2-e. In Semester 2, the audits will be conducted during the study break, which is the week Sept. 28th – Oct 2nd. The audits will be run over 2-4 days. You will be volunteering with us on one day from 9am-4pm, which is long enough to complete an audit of most buildings. Pizza and snacks will be provided, but please bring reusable water bottles. Training will be organised by Sustainable Initiatives UWA each morning that the audits are held. We don’t require any previous experience - we will tell you everything you need to know in order to be a fully capable auditor! Training is done with the whole group at once.

HEALTH OUTREACH WORKER Our health outreach worker programme is in partnership with Homeless health care (previously Mobile GP). They train medical students who are then given the opportunity to mingle with homeless people at centres around Perth to encourage them to think about their health.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Students will be able to work with homeless people with the aim of getting them to think about their health as not everyone who comes into the drop in centre utilises the medical services there. Students will learn how to interact with homeless people in a clinic setting which can be very challenging. Throughout their time, they will be supervised closely by the nurse supervisor and GPs in the clinic. The long term objective is to encourage homeless people to utilise Mobile GP as their primary health provider. When appropriate, we will consider allowing medical students who have been certified to take basic blood pressure and observations under the supervision of the clinical nurse. We are even thinking of allowing some students to accompany an outreach nurse who goes out into the community to reach out to the homeless.
LOCATION 1) Ruah Monday, Wednesday and Friday 0845AM to 1230PM 33 Shenton Street Northbridge, W.A 6003
