As a United Way Campaign coordinator, you are essential to the success for children and families in our community. Thank you for your dedication to our community. Your leadership helps deliver positive, lasting results for everyone through United Way Community Investment. We can achieve so much more together than any one of us can alone. And, by working together, we improve lives and change local community conditions.

When children have quality education and families have the tools to be financially secure, they are able to concentrate on the important things in life–meeting their basic needs to succeed and leading healthy lifestyles. That’s good for all of us.
YOUR CAMPAIGN CHECKLIST
DURING YOUR CAMPAIGN
q Meet with a United Way staff member or Loaned Executive to create a plan of action. If you don’t know your United Way representative, we would be happy to introduce you. Please call us at (860) 493-6849.
q Hold employee group meetings. (See “The 20-Minute Group Meeting.”)
q Meet with your CEO or management team to establish goals and dates and to determine how they will be involved in the campaign.
q Run a special solicitation for current or prospective leadership donors (those who do or might consider giving $1,000 or more per year). q Share campaign information and progress in newsletters, intranet and e-mail.
q Recruit a strong campaign team, representing a wide range of employees, to help and support you.
q Use posters, table tents and other items to advertise the campaign.
q Ask a member of senior management to chair your leadership giving efforts.
q Follow up with anyone who has not pledged. Ask everyone to return a paper pledge form or online pledge whether they are contributing or not.
q Review last year’s campaign results, strategies, and recommendations, if any.
q Begin preparing your nominations for the Best Of Awards.
q Develop strategies, a timeline, and goals for this year’s campaign. q Reserve room(s) for group meetings and/or special events. q Visit the Campaign Toolkit at unitedwayinc.org/ campaigntoolkit to order your materials, download templates, arrange a speaker and more. Be sure to order your campaign materials and arrange for speakers at least two weeks prior to your kickoff date. q Take a peek at the entry requirements for the Best Of Awards at unitedwayinc.org/bestof. q Consider offering incentives for various levels of giving. See the Campaign Toolkit for ideas. q Develop a communications plan leading up to the campaign to inspire, build enthusiasm, motivate and inform your co-workers of key dates/goals. q Post information on your organization’s intranet with a link to unitedwayinc.org. q Send out endorsement letters or e-mails from your CEO.

q Pass out information about United Way membership opportunities, including the Women’s Leadership Council and Emerging Leaders Society.
AFTER YOUR CAMPAIGN q Complete the contribution report envelope and return it to United Way. q Send out thank-you notes and/or hold a thank-you event to announce and celebrate results. Don’t forget to thank anyone who helped you coordinate the campaign. q Submit your nominations for the Best Of Awards.
ALL YEAR q Schedule a volunteer day or Year of Caring event for your co-workers. q Keep your employees involved with United Way. Call us to arrange a lunch and learn, a speaker, or a bus tour. You can also stay informed about the issues online at unitedwayinc.org and how your gift is advancing the common good. q Contact us any time with questions about how we can work together to advance the common good. q Feel great about your accomplishments! You’re leading a movement! q R emember to use your United Way Campaign materials to motivate your colleagues to give to Community Investment–brochures, posters, table tents, messaging and more!
