Global Concerns Global Concerns (GC) projects focus on communities and causes in developing nations outside Singapore. Students identify regional grassroots NGOs to support and then create events to raise awareness and funds for environmental, human rights and development projects in education and health. Examples of Global Concerns include Tsunami Education Fund, Indonesia, Northern Lights, North Korea, SeaWater, Swaziland and Tiger Watch, India.

Local service Students are committed to building deep and sustained connections with the local community. All High School students engage in weekly, year-long service activities with local people and communities. These range from visiting homes and hospitals for the elderly and disabled, working with children with multiple disabilities or teaching life skills to former domestic workers who have been victims of violence.

a Global Concerns project but can also include an educational course or adventure expedition. In March 2013, the Class of 2014 organised themselves into 80 groups to visit 60 organisations in 15 countries. Projects included building houses in Cambodia and the Philippines, trekking and teaching in Nepal, building and maintaining animal rescue enclosures in Laos and Thailand, working with street kids in Indonesia and blind children in India, learning Muay Thai and jungle survival skills in Thailand and establishing a turtle hatchery in Malaysia.
Initiative for Peace The Initiative for Peace (IfP) programme is an annual conference that brings together youth from opposing sides of a conflict and builds human capacity in places such as Timor Leste and Sri Lanka. Each year UWCSEA students from both campuses are selected to work together organising and facilitating the conference. They undergo a year of training in peace facilitation, negotiation and leadership from UWC alumni and visiting experts from the United Nations and NGOs. At the end of the year they travel to an area of former conflict and lead an intense week of workshops with young people from across the divide, helping them to learn how they can instigate social change in their country.
Sports and Arts programmes Students have extensive opportunities to compete and perform at the highest level. Our students are expected to participate fully, exploring new interests, developing strengths and pursuing passions.

(I)GCSE (Grades 9 and 10)
Dover Campus has a boarding house, with 186 students enrolled from Grade 8 to 12. Students from over 50 nationalities live and work together in a vibrant community of learners. As well as participating fully in the UWCSEA learning programme, boarders have the opportunity to participate in cultural trips within Singapore and in other countries in the region. The UWCSEA boarding experience differs from some more traditional boarding schools, where students are based in a rural setting. Living in the centre of the large, but safe, city-state of Singapore, students can build independence as they are progressively given more freedom to explore the city without adult supervision, an excellent preparation for life at university and beyond.

The General Certificate of Educational (GCSE) is the British national examination for students at age 16. At UWCSEA, in many subjects an International GCSE is offered as it is more appropriate for our context. Most students take nine examination subjects for (I)GCSE along with PE and a further two subjects that help to ensure a balanced curriculum. The core examination subjects are English Language, English literature, Mathematics, a non-English language, a choice of Humanities, a choice of a Science and an Arts subject.
Foundation IB (Grade 10 FIB) Students who join the College in Grade 10 take the FIB course, designed to prepare students for the rigours of the IB Diploma. The course provides the appropriate depth so that students can select IBDP subjects from a firm foundation of knowledge, skills and understanding. All FIB students take English, Mathematics, Global Perspectives, Economics, History or Geography, Coordinated Sciences, Information Technology, an Arts subject and a non-English language.
IB Diploma (Grades 11 and 12) The IB Diploma provides a rigorous and challenging academic programme leading to externally marked final examination. It is designed to provide students who have different linguistic, cultural and educational backgrounds with the intellectual, social and critical perspectives necessary for the adult world that lies ahead. Students complete six subjects, with a small number completing seven. Students also study Theory of Knowledge, submit an Extended Essay and participate in Creativity, Action and Service. Teachers predict students’ final IB grades in Term 1 of Grade 12. Students’ predicted grades are sent to the universities to which students have applied, along with their transcripts and supporting documents.
