StudentsinGrades2to12havetheopportunitytolearnawiderangeofinstrumentswithintheMusicDepartment’sInstrumental TeachingProgramme(ITP).

TheCollegehasbroughttogethersomeofSingapore’sfinestmusicianstoprovideacomprehensiveschemeofinstrumentalteaching.

Studentstakinglessonsonotherinstrumentsmusteitherrent orpurchase aninstrument.Privatelyownedinstruments shouldbecoveredbytheowner’sinsurance.UWCSEAEastwill notbeheldliableforanydamage,lossorthethatmayoccur oncampus

TheCollegeofferscertaininstrumentsforhire(guitars,pianos andpercussioninstrumentsarenotavailableforhire).

StudentswhohireCollegeinstrumentssuchasviolins,violas, flutes,clarinets,saxophones,trumpets,hornsandtrombones shouldaimtopurchasetheirownaeroneyearoftuition However,itmaybepossibleformoreexpensiveinstrumentsto behiredindefinitely Werecommendthatparentsconsulttheir child’sInstrumentalTeacherbeforepurchasinganinstrument Theinstrumenthirefeeis$90perSeason($360intotalforthe academicyear)inclusiveofGSTandadministrativecharges All instrumentsmustbereturnedattheendoftheacademicyear forcleaningandrepairs.

TheMusicDepartmentrunslunchtimeandaerschool ensembleswhichculminateinconcerts,recitalsandother performancesduringtheyear TheseprovideITPstudentsthe opportunitytoperformtogether,developessentialskills,and consolidatelearning.

Thecostper30-minutelessonis:

Advancedstudents(higherexamgradesandIBDP)mayoptfor oneone-hourortwohalf-hourlessons(perweek)atthesame hourlyrate.

AllfeesincludeGSTandadministrativecharges,andarebilled bytheCollegeeachSeason Lessonswillnotproceedinthe eventofnon-payment

Billing

InvoicesareissueddirectlybytheCollegeatthebeginningof eachseason.AllITPlessonfeesandinstrumenthirefeeswillbe collectedbytheCollege BillingofITPlessonsandinstrument hirewillbebySeasons

Lessonattendance

WhenthestudentisoffschoolduetoillnessITPteachersmust benotifiedby7amforthemissedlessontobeexcusedand thereforebecreditedorrescheduled Dressrehearsalsor curricularschooltripsarelegitimatereasonsfor non-attendanceprovidedanoticeofatleast24hoursisgiven totheITPTeacher. Missedlessonsduetooutdoororschool tripsarenotautomaticallyexcused Itisuptothefamilyto informtheirITPteacherofsuchcases Excessivehomework, socialreasons,non-UWCSEAtrips(egfamilyholidaystakenin seasontime),routinemedicalappointments(exceptinthecase ofanemergency),rescheduledquizzesandassessmentsare notlegitimatereasonsformissinglessons,andonthese occasions,nomake-uplessonwillbeoffered

Ifabsenceisunavoidable,theteacherwilltrytoschedulea make-uplessonifoneisavailable Make-uplessonsarenot possibleforpairedlessons.Studentsonasuspendedtimetable forinternalexaminationsmustarrangetorescheduletheir lessons Alessoncancelledbyateacherwillalwaysbemadeup orcreditedtonextseason’sbill Pleaserememberthatthe instrumentalteacherdependsonthisincomefortheir livelihood.

Terminationoflessons
