1.1. TheCollege:TheCollegeisUnitedWorldCollegeof SouthEastAsia(UWCSEADoverCampus)andUnited WorldCollegeofSouthEastAsia-East(UWCSEAEast Campus)whichincludestheHighSchool,MiddleSchool, JuniorSchoolandInfantSchoolatbothcampusesin SingaporeactingbytheGoverningBodyasnoworinthe futureconstituted ForthepurposesoftheApplication Fee,EnrolmentFee,TuitionFeesandanyotherrelated issues,thetwocampusesaretreatedasseparate entities

1.2. TheHeadofCampus:TheHeadofCampus(“Head”)is thepersonappointedbytheCollegeoneachcampusto beresponsibleforthestudentsandincludesthoseto whomanyofthedutiesoftheHeadhavebeendelegated includingmembersoftheleadershipteamsofthe respectivecampusesandoftheCollege

1.3. TheParents:Theparentsarethosewhohaveparental responsibilityforthestudent,includinglegalguardians. Allparentsshallbejointlyandseverallyliabletothe College Unlessotherwiseinformedinwritingwith supportingdocumentaryevidence,theparentsnamedin theConfirmationofAcceptanceshallbedeemedtohave equalparentalresponsibility.Fortheavoidanceof doubt,intheabsenceofanoticeinwritingtogetherwith suchrelevantdocumentsasrequiredbytheCollegeofa changeoffamilycircumstance,theCollegeshallnotbe responsibleforacceptingtheinstructionsfromone parentwithoutconfirmationfromtheotherparent

AimoftheCollege:TheCollegeaimstodevelopethical individualswithabiasforactionwhostrivetomakethe worldmorepeacefulandsustainable.TheCollegeis committedtohighstandardsofteachingandcareandto providinganenvironmentinwhichstudentsare encouragedtoengageacrossallaspectsoftheLearning ProgrammeandtolivetheUWCSEAvalues

1.5. ChangesattheCollege:Asuccessfulschoolmust initiateandrespondtochange Theacceptanceofa placebytheparentsisgivenonthebasisthat,inthe interestsoftheCollegeasawhole,reasonablechanges maybemadefromtimetotime,totheseStandardTerms andConditions,tothesizeandlocationoftheCollege anditscampuses,toitspremisesandfacilities,tothe learningprogramme(includingspecificsubjectsoffered), tothestructureandcompositionofclassesandtheway theCollegeisrun,totherulesanddisciplinary framework,tothelengthoftheschooltermsandthe schooldayandtoanyotheraspectoftheCollege

1.6. AcceptanceofStandardTermsandConditions: AttendanceattheCollegeindicatesacceptanceof currentStandardTermsandConditionsandagreement toabidebyCollegePolicies TheFeesScheduleandthe CollegePoliciesasvariedfromtimetotime,arepartof theseStandardTermsandConditions

1.7. WaiverofStandardTermsandConditions:Anywaiver iseffectiveonlyifgiveninwritingbytheHeadofCampus personally

2. Care,AttendanceandBehaviour

2.1. CollegePolicies:Itisaconditionofremainingatthe CollegethatparentsandstudentsacceptCollege Policies.CollegePoliciesareavailableonthewebsite portalandamendedfromtimetotime

2.2. Parents’Authority:TheparentsauthorisetheHeadof Campustotakeand/orauthorisealldecisionsthat safeguardandpromotethestudent’swelfare.Parents consenttosuchphysicalcontactastheCollegemay deemnecessaryforteachingandforprovidingcomfort toastudentindistressortomaintainsafetyandgood orderorinconnectionwiththestudent’shealth The HeadofCampusortheirdelegatemayalsoconsenton behalfoftheparentstothestudentreceivingmedical treatmentiftheparentscannotbecontactedatthetime consentisrequired Allsuchexpensesincurredwillbeto theparents’account.

2.3. Behaviours:TheCollegeattachesimportanceto kindness,integrityandrespect Allmembersofthe Collegecommunity(includingbutnotlimitedto students,parents,staff,volunteersandalumni)are expectedtoconductthemselveswiththesevaluesin mindandtosupportandupholdtheaimsoftheCollege anditsgoodname Tothisextent,allstudentsand parentsshallensurethattheycomplywithallguidelines andpoliciesoftheCollegeandconductthemselvesin accordancewiththeCollege’sethosandvalues.Inthe eventthattheCollegeisofthesoleviewthatastudent orparenthasbreachedanyguidelineorpolicyofthe CollegeortheCollegeisofthesoleviewthatanactionof thestudentorparentmayaffectthegoodnameofthe College,theCollegemay,atitssolediscretion:

231 requirethestudentorparenttoimmediately ceaseandremedytheoffendingactionina mannerasrequiredbytheCollege;

232 suspendtheparent’saccesstoorexcludethe parentfromallpremisesoftheCollege;and/or 233 suspendorexpelthestudentinaccordancewith theseStandardTermsandConditions.

2.4. Attendance:

241 Parentswillusetheirbestendeavourstoensure thestudentparticipatesintheactivitiesofthe Collegeincludingbutnotlimitedtoattendanceof eachschoolday(unlesspreventedbyillness) In theeventthatastudentispreventedfrom attending5consecutiveschooldaysormoreby illness,thestudentshallprovideamedical certificatetotheCollegeassoonaspracticable andinanyevent,nolaterthan7daysfromthe firstdateofabsence

2.4.2. Thestudentwillberequiredtomaintaina satisfactory,minimumattendanceoveranygiven periodandinaccordancewithSingapore Governmentregulations Failuretodosowithout authorisationmayresultinthestudentbeing askedtoleavetheCollegewithoutanyrefundof

fees Notwithstandingtheminimumattendance asrequiredpursuanttotheSingapore Governmentregulations,theCollegeandthe relevantprincipalshallhavesolediscretionto determinewhetherastudentmaybepromoted tothenextgradeorberequiredtoimmediately withdrawfromtheCollegeinthefollowingterm intheeventthatthestudentdoesnotattainthe minimumaggregateattendanceinanacademic termasrequiredbytheCollege

2.5. StudentparticipationintheLearningProgramme: Thestudentisexpectedtoparticipateinallfiveelements oftheLearningProgrammeincludingAcademics, Activities,OutdoorEducation,PersonalandSocial Education,andService.

3. StudentHealth,MedicalMattersand Wellbeing

3.1. Declarationofstudent’shealth:Inordertopromote positivehealthandwellbeingwithintheCollege community,staffandparentsareexpectedtodeclare medical,behaviouralandpsycho-emotionalconditions whichmayaffectthestudent’scapacitytoparticipatein theeducationalprogrammeorpresentagreaterriskor requireindividualmedicalsupport,andprovidea medicalreportormemotoenablebestmedicalpractice isappliedandriskofharmordangerisminimised. Failuretoprovidefulldisclosureand/oragreetoa MedicalActionPlanornon-compliancemay,atthesole discretionoftheCollege,resultintheterminationofthe student’spositionattheCollegeand/orbarringofthat student’sparticipationinschoolactivitiesandtrips

3.2. Concernforastudent’sphysicalormentalhealth: WheretheCollegehasareasonableconcernabouta student’sphysicalormentalhealth,theCollegemay requiretheresultsofamedicalorpsychological examinationbeforethestudentispermittedtoenterthe campus InthecaseofBoardingstudents,studentsmay havetovacatetheboardinghouseuntilsatisfactory resultsarereceived.

3.3. Vaccinations:Asaprerequisiteforenrolment,parents arerequiredtodeclarefulfilmentoforexemptionfrom VaccinationRequirements(VR)(forentrytoSingapore), whichareamandatoryrequirementbytheMinistryof HealthassetoutintheFourthScheduleoftheInfectious DiseasesAct(Cap137).

Asaprerequisiteforschooltripsoutsidethecampus,the Collegemayalso,initssolediscretion,requirecertain immunisationpriortosuchschooltrips.Insuchanevent, parentsshallberequiredtomakedeclarations confirmingthatthestudenthasobtainedallrequisite immunisationpriortotheschooltrips Failuretoprovide adeclarationconfirmingthatthestudenthasobtained allrequisiteimmunisationmayresultinthestudent beingexcludedfromtheschooltrip

3.4. Medicalinformation:Throughoutastudent’stimeatthe College,theCollegeshallhavetherighttodisclose informationaboutthestudentifconsideredtobeinthe student’sowninterestsornecessaryfortheprotectionof othermembersoftheschoolcommunityandservice providersresponsibleforthedutyofcareofstudents. Suchinformationwillbegivenandsharedona ‘need-to-know’basis

3.5. MedicalActionPlan,DutyofCare:Whereastudenthas aconfirmedmedicalcondition,amutuallyagreed MedicalActionPlanwithstatedandagreedinterventions mayberequired.Itisaconditionofcontinuing admissiontotheCollegethatallagreedmedicaldevices andmedicationrequiredtosupporttheagreed interventionsintheMedicalActionPlanareprovidedfree ofchargetotheCollegeandinthequantitystatedinthe MedicalActionPlanorassociatedpoliciestoCollege medicalstaff,whilstthestudentisinthecustodyofthe College Wherethereisconcern,thesuitabilityofthe studenttoparticipateinschoolactivities,including schooltrips,isfortheHeadNurseordesignatetodecide.

3.6. Infectioncontrolandstudentillness:Parentsagreeto ensurethatthestudentwillnotattendschoolifthe studentshowssymptomsofaninfectiousdisease ParentsmustcomplywiththeCollegeInfectiousDisease Policy.Parentsarerequiredtoprovideamedical certificateconfirmingacontagiousconditionand detailingwhenthestudentisfittoreturntoschool ParentsarerequiredtoinformtheSchooliftheyorthe Studenthavebeenexposedtoaknowncontagiousor communicabledisease,illnessorvirusinSingaporeor abroad

3.7. Medicalclosure:Intheeventofamedicaleventor circumstancewithinoraffectingSingaporeortheCollege thatrequirestheCollegetobeclosedbytherelevant authoritiesoftheSingaporeGovernmentorby recommendationtobreakacycleofinfection,the Collegewillnotbeobligedtorefundalloranypartofthe Feesforanyperiodofclosurebeforeoraeranysuch event.Inthissituation,theCollegewillmake arrangements,wherepracticable,toensurecontinuityof thestudents’education

3.8. Drugstesting:ParentsconsentthattheHeadofCampus mayatanytimerequirethestudenttogiveabiological sampleundermedicalsupervisiontotestfortheuseof illegaldrugsorothersubstancesdamagingtohealthin linewiththeCollegeDrugsPolicyandDrugsTesting Protocol Arecordofsuchasamplewillnotformpartof thestudent’spermanentrecordwiththeCollege.

3.9. Safeguardingandrisk:

3.9.1. Students:UWCSEAiscommittedtosafeguarding andprotectingstudentsandallcommunity membersfromharm ChildSafeguardingis everyone’sresponsibility TheCollegehasthe solediscretiontocollectandsharesafeguarding informationaboutindividualchildrenwith schoolsthechildhasattendedorwillattend

Withregardtoallegedincidentsofchild-on-child abuse,theCollegemayfurther,initssole discretion,imposeprotectiveand/orsupportive interimmeasures(“InterimMeasures”)aera childsafeguardingreportismadeandbeforethe investigationresult,ifany,isreached Interim measuresmayincludebutarenotlimitedto:

3911 Imposingnon-contactconditionsonthe studentwhohasbeenimpactedbythe safeguardingincident(the “Complainant”)andthepartyagainst whomanallegationofmisconduct relatingtosafeguardinghasbeenmade (the“Respondent”),wheresuch non-contactconditionsmayextendto theclosecontactsoftheComplainant and/orrespondent;

3912 MovingtheComplainantand/orthe Respondenttoalternativeclasses and/oraccommodation(forboarding students)iftheCollegeisofthesole viewthatsuchmovementisfeasible; 3913 ExcludingtheRespondentfromcertain partsofthecampus;

3.9.1.4. ExcludingtheRespondentfromspecific schooltripsand/oractivities

392 Communitymembers:Allparents,staffand communitymembersareexpectedtosupportthe safetyandwellbeingofeveryoneoncampus. Accesstothecampusesisatthediscretionofthe Collegeandmaybewithdrawn Anyparentwho isdeemedtobearisktothemselvesorothers canbeexcludedfromthecampusesandfrom contactwiththecommunity.TheCollege reservestherighttoexcludestudentsfromthe Collegeasaresultofparentbehaviourthatmay posearisktothecommunityorwhichbringsthe Collegeintodisrepute.

3.9.3. Policereports:Intheeventthatpolicereports havebeenmadeinrelationtoasafeguarding incident,theCollegemayinitssolediscretion postponeitsinquiryuntilthepolicehave completedtheirinvestigationiftheCollegeisof theviewthatitsinquirymayaffectthepolice investigation

394 Policereports:TheCollegeshallreporttothe policeanyallegedincidentsthatfallwithin Section424oftheCriminalProcedureCode (includingbutnotlimitedtooffencesaffecting thehumanbody)

3.10. Parents’assumptionofrisk:Exceptforcasesofgross negligencebytheCollege,Parentsagreethatthestudent inattendingtheCollegeorsoparticipatinginCollege activitiesdoessoatthestudent’sownriskandthatthe Collegeshallnotbeliableorresponsibleforany accident,personalinjuryordeathsustainedorsuffered bythestudentoranydamagetopropertycausedwhile

thestudentisparticipatinginCollegeexpeditionsorany otherCollege-relatedactivity

3101 ParentsfurtheragreetoindemnifytheCollege fromallclaimswhatsoeverandhowsoever caused,sustainedorsufferedbythestudent whilstparticipatinginCollegeexpeditionsorany otherCollege-relatedactivity,whetherunder contractortortlaworotherwise

3102 WhilsttheCollegewilltakereasonablestepsto screenalladultswhocomeintocontactwith students,parentsacceptthatstudentswillwork withbothCollegestaffandexternalservice providersaswellasvolunteerswhen participatinginCollegeexpeditionsandother College-relatedactivities.

4. AdmissiontotheCollege

4.1. EntrytotheCollege:EntrytotheCollegewillbesubject totheavailabilityofaplaceandthestudentmeetingthe entrancecriteriaandotherwisesatisfyingtheadmission requirementsapplicableatthetime.Inallcases concerningtheavailabilityofaplace,entrycriteriaand assessments,thedecisionoftheDirectorofAdmissions withregardtoadmissiontotheCollegeisfinal

4.2. Entrancecriteria:Parentsacceptthatentryissubject, amongstothermatters,toentrancecriteriaandthatthe studentmaybeaskedtotakeatestortobeinterviewed inordertoascertainwhethertheentrancecriteriahave beenmet,includingtestingforthestudent’sEnglish languageproficiency,learningsupportneedsand/or academiclevel.Parentsagreethatresponsesinall testingmustbesolelythoseofthestudent Ifit subsequentlybecomesapparentthatthishasnotbeen thecase,itwillleadtothewithdrawaloftheofferofa placeorremovalfromtheCollegewithoutrefundofany feespaid.

4.3. Offerandacceptanceofaplacebypaymentof AcceptanceFees:Ifaplaceisoffered,parentsmust submitasignedConfirmationofAcceptanceand paymentoftheAcceptanceFeesbythedatesetoutin theofferdocuments(‘theofferdeadline’).Whereanoffer hasnotbeenacceptedbytheofferdeadline,theofferwill beregardedaslapsedandtheplacemaybeofferedto anotherfamily

4.4. AcceptanceFees:TheAcceptanceFeesforDayStudents comprisetheEnrolmentFeeplustheTuitionFeesand DevelopmentLevy(thelattertwohereinaerreferredto asthe‘TermFees’)forthefirsttermthestudentwillbein attendance TheAcceptanceFeesforBoardersalso includestheTerm’sBoardingFees.

4.5. AcceptanceFeesforoffersmadetocommenceaer theStartofTerm:Ifaplaceisofferedaerthe commencementofTerm,theAcceptanceFeeswill comprisetheEnrolmentFee,theproratedTermFees (includingtheBoardingFeeinthecaseofaBoarder) payableforthetermthathascommenced,andtheTerm

TuitionFeesaresetoutinthefeescheduleandwillbe chargedseparately

5.4. Lossordamagecausedbyastudent:Thecostofany lossordamagecausedbyastudentwillbecharged separatelytotheparents’account

5.5. Provisionoflaptop:ParentsofstudentsinGrades6to 12agreetoprovideaCollege-approvedlaptoptosupport theirchild’slearning.

5.6. Paymentofexaminationorassessmentfees:Parents agreetopaythefeesand/orcostofanyexternal examinationorassessmentwhichastudentparticipates in,orisregisteredtoparticipatein,whetherpriortothe startoftheexaminationorassessmentperiodor otherwiseandwhetherthestudentinfactattendsthe examinationorassessmentorotherwise.Examination andassessmentfeesandcostsarenon-refundable.

5.7. Increaseinfees:Parentsacknowledgethatfeelevels willbereviewedeachyearandtherewillbeincreases fromtimetotimewhichtheparentsundertaketopay

5.8. Automaticwithdrawaluponnon-paymentoffees:A studentwillbedeemedwithdrawnfromtheCollege withoutnoticeiffeesforthefollowingtermremain unpaidbytheWithdrawalDeadlinereferredtoinSection 6.Onceastudentisregardedaswithdrawnfromthe College,thatstudent’splaceinthefollowingtermwillbe offeredtoanotherapplicant

5.9. Righttoexclude:TheCollegereservestherightto excludeanystudentforwhomanypartoftheTermFees areunpaid

5.10. TermFeespaidforapartiallycompletedtermare non-refundable:Feeswillnotberefundedorwaivedfor atermthatastudenthascommencedbutdidnot completeforanyreasonincludingabsencethrough sickness;orifatermisshortenedoravacationextended; orifastudentisreleasedhomebeforethescheduledend ofterm

5.11. Responsibilityforpayment:Feesarethejointand severalresponsibilityofeachpersonwhohassignedthe ConfirmationofAcceptanceorwhohasparental responsibilityforthestudentorhaspaidanyfeesorhas returnedthestudenttotheCollegeorgiveninstructions inrelationtothestudent TheCollegemaywithholdany informationorpropertywhilefeesareunpaid

5.12. PaymentofTermFeesbyaThirdParty:Anagreement withaThirdPartytopaytheTermFeesoranyothersum duetotheCollegedoesnotreleaseparentsfromany liabilityundertheseStandardTermsandConditions.The Collegereservestherighttorefuseapaymentfroma ThirdParty

5.13. Latepayment:TheCollegehastherighttoimposelate paymentcharges,includingallrelatedadministration andlegalcosts,forinvoicesnotpaidbytheduedate The amountoutstanding,thelatecharges,andallrelated costsarepayablebytheparents.Anypaymentmadeor deliveredtotheCollegeaertheduedatewillnotbe consideredaspaiduntilthepaymenthascleared Any sumtenderedthatislessthanthesumdueandowing

mayinanyeventbeacceptedbytheCollegeaspart paymentoftheamountoutstanding

5.14. Discretiontoprioritisepayment:Intheeventthata familymakesonlyapartialpaymentofthetotalTerm FeesdueforallchildrenattendingtheCollege,the CollegehasthesolediscretiontoprioritiseanyTermFees paidtostudentswhoaresittingexternalexaminationsin theacademicyearforwhichtheTermFeesaredue

6. NoticeofWithdrawal

6.1. WithdrawalfromtheCollege:Noticemustbegivenin theprescribedformonorbeforethepublisheddatesof notificationbeforeastudentiswithdrawnfromthe College Bothparents’consentisrequiredbeforea studentwillbewithdrawn

6.2. Withdrawaldeadline:Thewithdrawaldeadlineforeach termisthedatepublishedintheFeeScheduleforeach academicyearbywhichnoticeofwithdrawalmustbe received,intheprescribedform,forstudentsleavingat theendofthatterm(the‘WithdrawalDeadline’)inorder tosecurearefundoffeespaidforthefollowingtermas providedforinClause63

6.3. RefundofTermFees:ExceptasprovidedinClauses65, 92and93,ifnoticeissubmittedintheprescribedform onorbeforethepublisheddatesofnotificationforthe student’sfinaltermattheCollege,thefeespaidforthe followingtermwillberefundedlessanydebtsowedasat thestudent’slastdayattheCollegetotheaccountfrom whichfeesarereceivedbytheCollege

6.4. ForfeitureofTermFees:Ifnoticeisgivenaerthe publishedwithdrawaldeadline,allfeespaidforthe relevanttermwillberetainedbytheCollegewiththe exceptionofClauses6.5and9.2.

6.5. PrescribedformofWithdrawalNotice: Noticeofwithdrawalmustbesubmittedbyparentsusing theonlinewithdrawalformaccessedviatheparent portaloftheCollegewebsiteonorbeforethepublished dateofnotificationforwithdrawal Nootherformof notice,writtenorverbal,willbedeemedtoconstitute effectivenoticeforthepurposesoftheseStandardTerms andConditions

6.6. CancellationofWithdrawal/Reinstatement: Reinstatementshallonlybeavailablefortheimmediate termfollowingtheterminwhichthestudentlethe College Ifastudentfailstoapplyforreinstatement withinthistimeframetheywillneedtofollowtheregular applicationprocessforreadmissionincludingpayment ofallrelevantfees Allreinstatementrequestsmustbe madetotheRegistrarandaresubjecttoapproval Upon approvalofreinstatement,allrelevantfeesshallbepaid withinsuchtimeframeasrequiredbytheCollegeandas setoutintherelevantinvoice,failingwhichthestudent shallnotbereinstatedandnofurtherreinstatement requestmaybemadethereaer

7. Suspensionandexpulsionofa student

7.1. Suspension:Astudentmaybetemporarilyexcluded fromattendingtheCollege,includingCollege-related activitiesheldonoroffcampus,atanytime,without refundofTermFeesforthecurrentterm,if,intheopinion oftheHeadofCampus:

711 theconductorprogressofthestudenthasbeen unsatisfactory;

712 thestudentisunwillingorunabletobenefitfrom theeducationalopportunitiesoffered; 713 aparenthastreatedtheCollegeormembersofits staffunreasonably.

7.2. Expulsion:Astudentmaybeexpelledatanytime withoutrefundofTermFeesforthecurrenttermandany examinationorassessmentfees,ifintheopinionofthe HeadofCampus:

721 thestudent’sconduct,whetheronoroffCollege premisesorinoroutoftermtime,hasbeen prejudicialtogoodorderorschooldisciplineor tothereputationoftheCollege 722 thestudenthasbeenchargedorconvictedofa seriousoffenceunderSingaporelaw

7.2.3. thestudentisunwillingorunabletobenefitfrom theeducationalopportunitiesoffered; 724 aparenthastreatedtheCollegeormembersof itsstaffunreasonably;or

725 aparenthasrefusedand/orpersistently neglectedtoabidebytheseStandardTermsand Conditions.

7.3. PoweroftheHeadofCampus:TheHead’spowers includetheimpositionofsanctionsincludingexclusion fornon-paymentoffees,suspensionduringinvestigation orfollowingabreachofCollegediscipline,andremoval orexpulsionasprovidedintheseStandardTermsand Conditions.TheHeadisnotresponsibleforastudent whoisabsentfromtheCollegeorinbreachofschool disciplineorpresentoncampusforreasonsotherthan forCollege-relatedactivities

7.4. DiscretionofHeadofCampus:Thedecisiontoexclude, suspendorexpelastudentandthemannerandformof anyannouncementshallbeatthesolediscretionofthe HeadofCampus.InnocircumstancesshalltheCollegeor itsstaffberequiredtodivulgetoparentsorothersany confidentialinformationortheidentitiesofstudentsor otherswhohavegiveninformationwhichtheHeadhas acquiredduringaninvestigationandwhichhasledtothe suspension,ortherequirementtoremovethestudent.

7.5. Access:Astudentwhohasbeenwithdrawn,excluded, suspended,removedorexpelledfromtheCollegehasno righttoenterCollegepremiseswithoutthewritten permissionoftheHeadofCampus Similarly,aparent whosechildhasbeenaskedtoleaveunderClause713 willhavenorighttoentertheCollegepremiseswithout thewrittenpermissionoftheHeadofCampus.

8. ResidencyRequirements

8.1. Daystudents:Daystudentsmustresidewithoneorboth parentsinapermanentresidentialsituationin Singapore,exceptasprovidedinClause8.4.

8.2. ‘Apermanentresidentialsituation’:Thiswillbe interpretedtomeanthatatleastoneparent(or grandparent,ifapprovedinaccordancewithClause84) mustbepresentandlivingwiththestudentforatleast 90%oftermtime(includingweekends)

8.4. Grandparent(s)servinginlocoparentisinlieuofthe parent(s)meetingresidencyrequirements:In exceptionalcircumstances,theCollegemayapprovea grandparentfulfillingtheresidencyrequirement.The relevantSchoolPrincipalhasthesolediscretionwhether ornottoapprovethegrandparentservinginloco parentisinlieuoftheparent(s)

8.5. College-supportedtemporaryguardianship:Ifa student’sparent(s)cannotfulfiltheresidency requirementoncethestudenthasstartedaparticular schoolyear,parentsmayapplyforpermissionforthe studenttoresidewithatemporaryguardianforuptoa maximumperiodofoneschooltermusingthe prescribedapplicationform ThisCollege-supported temporaryguardianshipschemeisdiscretionary,and priorapprovalmustbegivenbytherelevantSchool Principal ForsiblingsattendingtheCollege,temporary guardianshipforeachsiblingwillneedtobeapprovedby therelevantSchoolPrincipal,withconsultationbetween theSchoolPrincipalsconcerned.Intheeventthata SchoolPrincipaldoesnotapprovethetemporary guardianshipforanyofthesiblings,Clause87shall apply

8.6. Temporaryabsenceofparents:TheCollege acknowledgesthatunderexceptionalcircumstances, bothparentsmightbetemporarilyabsentfrom Singapore.Forparentalabsenceofbetweenoneandfive days,theCollegerequiressubmissionoftheprescribed formtonominateanadulttowhomparental responsibilityhasbeendelegated Parentalabsenceof morethanfivedaysandnotmorethan4weeksrequires priorapprovalbytherelevantSchoolPrincipal.The Collegewillnotacceptthedelegationofparental responsibilitytoadomestichelperortoapersonunder theageof25 TherelevantSchoolPrincipalhasthe discretionwhetherornottoapprovethecircumstances ofparentalabsence.

8.7. Breachofresidencyrequirements:Ifparentsarefound tobeinbreachoftheCollegeResidencyRequirementsas setoutinClauses81to86above,thestudentmaybe offeredaspaceinBoardingifavailableandappropriate, forstudentsinGrades8andabove,ormaybeaskedto

withdrawfromtheCollegebytheHeadofCampus withoutrefundoffees

8.8. Residencyrequirements:Whereitbecomesapparent aeraplacehasbeenofferedtoanapplicant,thatthe ResidencyRequirementswillnotbemet,theoffermay bewithdrawnoracceptancecancelledbytheDirectorof Admissionswithoutrefundoffees

9. Boarding

9.1. Durationofboarding:Parentsofboardingstudents agreethatthecommitmenttoboardingisforafull academicyearandacknowledgethattheywillbe requiredtopaythefullyear’sBoardingFeeswhetheror notthestudentcompletestheacademicyearasa boarder

9.2. Earlyterminationofboarding:Ifastudentleaves boardingaeroneortwoterms,forwhateverreason,all BoardingFeespaidtothatdatewillberetainedbythe College,whetherornotnoticeofleavingisgiven,andthe balanceofBoardingFeespayableforthatacademicyear willbecomeimmediatelypayable Incaseswherea studenttransferstodaystatusbeforethecompletionof theacademicyear,thestudentwillbedeemed withdrawnfromtheCollegeinaccordancewithClause 59ifthebalanceofBoardingFeesremainsunpaid28 daysaerthecommencementofthenewacademic term.

9.3. Boarderstransferringtodaystatus:Aboardingstudent maytransfertodaystatusattheendofanacademic year.Insuchcases,theTerm1BoardingFeewillbefully refunded,lessanydebtsowedtotheCollege,provided that:

931 theCollege’sresidencyrequirementsassetoutin Section8willbemetand 9.3.2. writtennotificationofthechangeofstatusis receivedbytheAdmissionsDepartmentonor beforetheAprilWithdrawalDeadline 933 inanyothercase,allfeespaidtodatewillbe retainedbytheCollegeregardlessoftheperiodof noticegiven

9.4. Daystudentstransferringtoboardingstatus:Aday studentmaytransfertoboardingstatusonlyaer attendingtheCollegeforaminimumofoneschoolyear Inexceptionalcircumstances,adaytransfertoboarding maybeconsideredbeforethestudenthascompleteda fullyearofattendance.Admissiontoboardingrequires applicationandissubjecttoafullreviewprocess, includingaboardinginterviewwiththeDirectorof ResidentialLife,andissubjecttothestudent’ssuitability forboardingandspaceavailability.

9.5. Boardingstatusifparentssubsequentlyestablish residencyinSingapore:Ifaboarderchoosestoremain inboardingevenaerparentsrelocatetoSingapore, parentsshallbedeemedtoagreethatboardingstaff serveinlocoparentisfortheirboardingstudent The boardingstudentshallfulfilallnormalexpectationsof livinginboarding,includingfullparticipationinthe

residentiallifeprogrammeandschedule,anda commitmenttobuildingrelationshipswithstaffand peersinthecommunity.

9.6. Exclusionfromboarding:TheHeadofCampusmayat anytimerequiretheremovalofastudent,temporarilyor permanently,fromboarding,includingbutnotlimitedto anyofthecircumstancesdescribedinClause71or72 above Inthatevent,therewillbenorefundofTermFees (includingBoardingFees)forthebalanceofthatterm In theeventthatastudentisexcludedfromboardingonly buttheparentsareunabletofulfiltheresidency requirementforthestudenttocontinueasadaystudent, thereshallbenorefundoftheTermFees(including BoardingFees)forthebalanceofthatterm Intheevent thatastudentisexcludedfromBoardingonlyandthe parentsareabletofulfiltheresidencyrequirementfor thestudenttocontinueasadaystudent,thereshallbe norefundoftheBoardingFeesforthebalanceofthat term.

9.7. Travelarrangements:TheCollegemaychargeall administrationandotherexpensesincludingstaff supervisionexpenseswheretheCollegehastomake travelorotherarrangementsforaboardingstudent before,duringorattheendofaterm

9.8. TermFeesforBoarding:TermFeesforaboarding studentincludetheBoardingFees

10. ImmigrationStatusandNationality

10.1. Requirementtoholdavalidpass:Parentsare responsibleforensuringthatuponentrytotheCollege andforaslongasthestudentattendstheCollege,the studentholdsanappropriatepass(orexemptionfrom theImmigrationandCheckpointsAuthority)thatallows themtostudyfull-timeinSingapore(a‘validpass’).A visitpassunderRegulation12oftheSingapore ImmigrationRegulationsdoesnotconstituteavalidpass forthesepurposes

10.2. CopyofpassestobesubmittedtotheCollege: TheCollegemustholdacopyofthevalidpassforthe purposeofmeetingGovernmentreportingrequirements Parentsareresponsibleforkeepingtheirchild’s immigrationstatusrecordsuptodateincluding uploadingcopiesofcurrentandvalidpassesand supportingdocumentationtothechild’srecordinthe UWCSEAonlinefamilyportal Anystudentforwhomthe Collegedoesnothaveacopyoftheirvalidand appropriateimmigrationpassorstatusmaynotattend schooluntilsuchtimeasacopyisprovided

10.3. Exclusionwithoutavalidpass:Exclusionwithouta validpass:Astudentwhoisnotabletoproduceacopyof avalidpasswillnotbepermittedtocommenceor continuetoattendtheCollege,ortorepresentthe Collegeinsportingorotheractivities,untilsuchtimeasa validpass,oranexemption,isproduced Wherethis resultsintheprolongedabsenceofthestudent,their enrolmentmaybecancelledwithTermFeespaidtodate forfeited.

12. ForceMajeure

12.1. ReleasefromobligationsaffectedbyForceMajeure: IfbyreasonofForceMajeure(hereaerdefined)the Collegeisrenderedunablewhollyorinparttoperform itsobligations,thenuponnoticeinwritingofsuchForce Majeuretotheparentsassoonasreasonablypracticable aertheoccurrenceofthecausereliedon,theCollege shallbereleasedfromsuchobligationstotheextentto whichtheyareaffectedbythecircumstancesofForce Majeureandfortheperiodduringwhichthose circumstancesexist

12.2. ‘ForceMajeure’hereinmeansanyofthefollowing events:a)war,invasion,rebellion,revolution, insurrectionorcivilwar;b)actofGovernment;c) earthquakes,fire,lightning,storms,floodsoranyother occurrencecausedbytheoperationoftheforcesof nature;d)strikes,lockouts,boycottsorlabourdisputes; e)terrorism,sabotageorarson;f)epidemicorinfectious disease;org)anyothereventsimilartoanyofthe foregoingoranyothereventbeyondthecontrolofthe College
