Sponsor’s Welcome

Tara Dillon chief Executive Officer chartered Institute for the Management of Sport & Physical Activity (cIMSPA) I'd like to thank Cardiff Metropolitan University for inviting CIMSPA to play such a key role in today's careers fair. For those students who aren't aware of what CIMSPA does - we are the single chartered professional body for the sport and physical activity sector. If you are considering a career in sport, fitness, sports development, sport administration or leisure management - anywhere within the sport and physical activity world - then we have a membership pathway for you which will help your career prospects and personal development. We're a relatively new organisation, and have the backing of government, key sector employers and agencies for our work in challenging the UK's inactivity problem and improving collaboration with the wider health sector. We already have a membership pathway in place to chartered status for those working in leisure management, and are now creating similar routes for other specialisms

Our work with universities such as Cardiff Metropolitan centres on both developing “employability-focused” degrees, and on helping students bridge the gap between the world of study and work. I’m keen today to meet as many Cardiff Met students as possible, to get your perspective on this exciting and challenging part of your life journey, so please come along to CIMSPA’s stand, or perhaps ask a question during my presentation. My message to you would be to be proactive and get the maximum out of today’s careers fair - talk to as many of the exhibitors as you can, and keep an open mind as to career choices you might not have previously thought of. Finally, if you are thinking of a career in sport, then be active and mindful about building a successful career as soon as you start work - which is where CIMSPA can help. I hope I can look forward to welcoming you into membership soon.

We are delighted to announce that Tara is our key note speaker for the day and will be talking about the benefits of becoming a CIMSPA member. Tara’s talk will be in Lecture Theatre 4 (B Block) 1pm - 2pm. Book your place via careerhub: careerhub.cardiffmet.ac.uk/students/events
