“The Conference Team are always a pleasure to work with, very helpful and professional.”
“Just to say a massive thank you, to you and your staff for the excellent pre and ‘on the day’ organisation of the event. Student Work Placement
This Spring we’ve welcomed a new member to the Conference Team. Amber, a second year marketing student at Cardiff Met, has joined the team to gain experience in a working environment. As part of her role, Amber has been assisting in social media activities, digital campaigns and marketing projects. We asked Amber a few questions about her time here and this is what she had to say; 1. What sort of projects have you been involved in during your work experience? I have been given a variety of tasks, which meant the work has been interesting and diverse. My main tasks were putting together promotional content on social media through Hootsuite and assisting the conference team at events.
2. What have you learnt during your time? I have learnt a number of new things, such as how to use Hootsuite and how social media can help build and maintain customer relationships, which has been helpful in writing a recent assignment at university.
3. What has been the most interesting task you’ve been given or has anything been a surprise? I really enjoyed putting together a marketing campaign promoting the summer accommodation to post on social media. It surprised me at first how time consuming composing each post and tweet was, however the more practice I had the quicker it became.
4. Has the role given you any ideas about what kind of business areas you’d like to work in? My experience here has definitely confirmed that I made the right choice in choosing marketing for a career, however it has made me consider working for smaller companies in the future and not just large multinational companies. For further insight into Amber’s work placement, you can read her blog here.
