POLITICAL SCIENCE
This program focuses on different aspects of the criminal justice system, including the police, courts and corrections, and other forms of social sanctions and controls. Students are challenged to think critically about how justice is best achieved, the key issues confronting the criminal justice system, the strengths and weaknesses of possible reforms, and the ethical dilemmas facing criminal justice practitioners.
This program offers a systematic study of politics at various levels: global, regional, national, and local. It examines how politics affects our lives and how different actors (such as international organizations, governments, political parties, social movements, civil society and individuals) make decisions that can affect changes. Students can choose courses from five streams: Global Politics; Political Thought; Law, Public Policy and Administration; Canadian and Comparative Politics; and City and Community Politics.

PSYCHOLOGY
SOCIOLOGY
Why do people think, feel, perceive, and behave the way they do? Psychologists seek to find answers to these questions by studying the human mind and behaviour. Explore topics ranging from the basic nervous system to principles of perception, learning, and cognition to gain an understanding of both social and clinical psychology. You can pursue a degree in Arts or in Science. See Biopsychology in the Science section for more information.
Sociology is an examination of the relations between the “individual” and “society.” Studying sociology can help you to develop a “sociological imagination,” which is a quality of mind that provides us with the ability to understand our own personal experiences as they are shaped by the society in which we live. Sociologists help us to understand how common sense comes to be common sense. In other words, sociology tells us how and why certain ideas are taken for granted and become popular and dominant during different social, economic and historical time periods. Sociology is often referred to as the “queen of the social sciences” because it uses history, philosophy, economics and statistics to understand social phenomena like crime rates, social inequality, student protest and changes taking place in capitalist democracies.

ECONOMICS
ECONOMICS & FINANCE
Economics analyzes how societies provide for their well-being. The human, capital and land resources at a society’s disposal can satisfy only a limited amount of demands. Economics studies the social issues that arise from the competition and cooperation among individuals, private organizations, and governments to meet those wants.
Economics and Finance analyzes how financial instruments and markets can contribute to the well-being of all members of society. These instruments and markets allow consumers to invest in private firms, entrepreneurs to expand their businesses, and public officials to manage their debt.
Economics students can earn a 3-year, 4-year or Honours Bachelor of Arts in Economics. In our 4-year BA in Economics, you can choose from six different areas of concentration: Public Policy Environmental Economics Development Financial Markets Political Economy Pre-Honours
The program also considers how best to manage and regulate these markets in order to ensure they operate for the benefit of all stakeholders in the economy. Economics and Finance students can earn a 4-year Bachelor of Arts or a 4-year Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics and Finance.
CAREER POSSIBILITIES Economics and Finance graduates are inclined to work in business, government, banking, or international organizations. Economics and Finance is highly recommended for students interested in careers as financial advisors, financial analysts or chief financial officers.

Today’s society is bombarded with information. The Internet, politicians and the media are constantly citing numbers, ratios and percentages to bolster points of view. Statistics offers the tools to understand this language through rational decision making. Take courses in statistical analysis, survey sampling and operations research, while learning tools for application in business, computing and government. You can pursue a degree in Science or in Arts.
Applied Computer Science Stream Focus on programming fundamentals, information management, software engineering, operating systems, net-centric computing, human computer interaction and intelligent systems. Information Systems Stream Focus on information and business needs of the IT industry. Prepares students in information-oriented courses, and also in system and Internet-based technologies.

Please refer to Education Combination Chart below and Approved List to the right. Any student with an average of 78% or higher who applies by March 1 will receive rolling admission offers once they submit their application. Between March 1–June 1, any remaining spots will be offered to a) students with a 78% or higher, and then b) students with less than 78% (but above a determined minimum). Students who are not admitted into Integrated Education on their first application can be offered general admission into Arts, Kinesiology, or Science, start a program in their desired teachable areas, and then apply to transfer into education for the following year. It is recommended that potential transfer students acquire work and/or volunteer positions with children/youth, as applicants are considered based on grades and relevant experience.
