The clinical health science programs cover Physiotherapy; Occupational Therapy; Paramedicine; Podiatry; and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Western Sydney University Law degrees are global in outlook and integrate academic content with professional skill development experiences such as mooting, legal drafting, court advocacy, client advising, alternative dispute resolution role plays (legal negotiation, mediation and arbitration), and clinical legal placements.

As a graduate of the Medicine and Surgery degree (MBBS), you’ll be more than just highly skilled; you’ll be ready for your internship and further specialist training.

Western Sydney University is home to one of Australia’s largest modern nursing and midwifery facilities. Our undergraduate courses are designed with the vision of preparing graduates for work into the future, making a difference to the lives of people, especially those in the Western Sydney region.

Law programs are offered at the Campbelltown and Parramatta campuses. Both offer excellent facilities, including moot courts for practising advocacy skills, a comprehensive library and computer-based law research facilities. In 2017, you will have even more options to combine your studies with another degree and work alongside practising solicitors at the Parramatta Community Justice Clinic.

You will learn skills using state-of-the-art equipment and learning spaces, including a new technologically-enhanced anatomy laboratory, and clinical schools located at hospitals and community services in Western Sydney and across NSW.

Career opportunities In our Law programs, special emphasis is placed on professional legal skills. Based on a curriculum that is tailored to the Western Sydney context as well as providing opportunities to experience rural medical practice, the program offers problem-based learning with intensive clinical practice and leading research.

Graduates are eligible for registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and may be able to apply for registration in overseas countries. Career opportunities Medical graduates have a huge variety of careers open to them, including medical clinical practice (general or specialist), medical research, teaching or administration, or a combination of these. Most medical graduates undertake further postgraduate vocational training before starting independent practice in their chosen area. In NSW, internships are administered by the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI), or by equivalent organisations in other states and territories. All courses are underpinned by a primary health care philosophy supported by a flexible learning approach throughout the course. The curriculum includes high-quality, evidence-based studies, emphasising a balance of theory, clinical practice and interdisciplinary learning to prepare you for work in the nursing and midwifery sectors. We are internationally known for producing nursing and midwifery graduates who enjoy very high employment rates, particularly in the Western Sydney region. Career opportunities As a nursing graduate, you may work in acute care hospitals, aged care services, child and adolescent health, community health, medical practice nursing, disability services, emergency or trauma units, justice health, mental health services, forensics, drug and alcohol, occupational health, oncology, operating theatres, palliative care, rehabilitation services, nursing education and health administration. Registered midwives may work in a range of maternity areas within community settings and private and public hospitals in metropolitan, rural and remote areas. Western Sydney University will offer a selection of online degrees in 2017.

Our Bachelor of Policing is the only metropolitan Sydney-based policing degree.

These degrees provide you with the opportunity to study online from anywhere, at any time, while still accessing all the support you need to succeed in your studies. Study materials, academic matters, assessments and graduation will all be handled by the University. Offered in either full or parttime mode, the courses we offer will open up career opportunities in the areas of Communication, Criminology and Science, and Public Health.

This degree places a strong emphasis on modern policing methods. Regular consultation with NSW Police recruiters means you’ll increase your chances of joining the NSW or Australian Federal Police agencies. You may choose to study criminology or criminal and community justice, and develop the skills essential for corrective service roles.

THE COLLEGE Entry Articulation UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION STUDIES TO BACHELOR DEGREE ARTICULATION REQUIREMENTS

At the completion of each term of the University Foundation Studies program, students will receive a number called a Grade Point Average (GPA). The highest GPA attainable is 10. These GPAs will largely determine a student’s academic progression to the next term or course. The minimum articulation requirements for Western Sydney University courses are listed opposite. Courses which have a high demand or limited places available will usually have a higher GPA requirement. See table for minimum requirements for entry into an undergraduate degree for University Foundation Studies program students.
