welcome What a year we have had! This season of life has our country in uncharted waters, but at V8, we aim to be reliable, dependable, and consistent in a time that is uncertain for many. One thing that's been a mainstay for years at V8 Ranch is outstanding females. As I always say, "the magic is in the cows," and this spring we had what we feel was the deepest set of January heifers we've ever had born. So much so, we are offering six heifers born within just a five day spread in January. V8 collectors will notice that these heifers represent the 'who's who' of our herd, both in their sire lines and cow families. Cattle are our only business. And we breed the kind to keep us in business. Nothing makes us more proud than seeing the V8 females that have gone through our sales grow into leading donors for you. Thank you again for your interest in our cattle, and your friendship and loyalty to V8 Ranch. I look forward to visiting with you about our cattle, and our family hopes to see you at the ranch this fall. Sincerely,

special SATISFACTION Throughout the year, there are many events which are sources of satisfaction. At V8, we feel a great deal of satisfaction when we do well in the show ring, top a sale, and hear encouraging words from a satisfied customer.
However, we enjoy most of all the excitement of watching a heifer we have bred, modern and correct, grow from a calf to become a contributing member of our cowherd. It's no accident. These heifers are capable of out-producing themselves; just as their mothers have done, here at V8. On October 19th and 20th, this "special satisfaction" that is ours, can be yours. — modified from V8 Ranch's Brahman Journal Advertisement, April 1981

When we started breeding the three-time International Champion Mr. V8 146/8, we mated him to cows of different phenotypes and genotypes. A very anticipated mating was to one of our favorite J.D. Hudgins cows, JDH Lady Ashtyn Manso 210/2. The night we bought 210/2 from Steve Hudgins in their internet sale, he called and thanked us. He said she was their best fall born heifer that year, and the only reason she sold is because he didn’t keep fall borns for replacements. He said her dam, 488/1, sired by +JDH Sir Marri Manso 557/4, was one of his and Rex’s better cows. This 210/2 cow has certainly lived up to Steve’s words – she is a beautiful, moderate-framed, deep-bodied cow and a top young donor. She produced two previous high-selling future donors for 2D Cattle Co. and Williams Ranch at Turkey Creek. The flush with 146/8 produced one of our most consistent groups of calves – four females, like peas in a pod. All deep-ribbed, easy-fleshing with lots of muscle, nice underlines and most importantly, easy to look at! They have eye-appeal and favor their mother very much, yet have that powerful hip design of 146/8. This heifer combines the best of V8 and JDH with both ranches’ breed greats dispersed in her five generation pedigree. She has a light birthweight and tremendous growth EPDs of 41.3 WW (top 3%) and 68.6 YW (top 2%). From all indications, she has the characteristics to be an easy-fleshing cow with many different options when considering sires to use in future flushes. Sired by the breed’s most popular young sire Mr. V8 146/8 and out of a great young JDH donor, this impressive heifer will be a wonderful foundation to build a herd from the ground up. Good luck. This powerful +Mr. V8 191/7 daughter is the longest-bodied heifer in the sale and striking in her profile. Both her sire and maternal grandsire, +Mr. V8 380/6, are recognized worldwide as sires that breed outstanding eye appeal with femininity, balance, length, and style. 275/9 is a great example of these traits. Each of Sloan Williams’ grandchildren and greatgrandchildren are given one heifer to start their herd with when they are born, presumably the top heifer at the ranch at that time. Miss V8 401/8 was the heifer given to Sloan’s great grandson, Knox Neumayr. 401/8 was Calf Champion at the 2017 International Show and Junior Champion at the 2017 National Show. She traces back to a long line of great females, donors, and champions. Also, she is double-bred to +Ms Claydesta 203-807U5, one of our foundation ‘cow families.’ All dams on the bottom side of her pedigree have been Register of Renown donor cows for seven generations. All sires in her four generation pedigree are Register of Renown. That’s pretty stout genetics! As an added bonus, she is double-bred to the Register of Renown sire +JDH Mr. Charley Manso 590/6, who has produced great females throughout the Brahman world. This heifer is very long-bodied, naturally up-headed and very clean underlined with lots of balance and shape. A light birthweight of 61 pounds combines with tremendous EPDs for growth and muscle, ranking in the top 1% for CWT and REA, top 4% for WW, and top 2% for YW. Her sire, +Mr. V8 191/7 was an International Reserve Champion and sired Mr. V8 604/7, Man of Steel, an International Champion himself. Another well known son, Mr. V8 933/7 “Yeti,” is siring some of the most impressive calves born in 2020. This heifer has unlimited potential. She will turn some heads. BW: 61 lbs. BW

This mating has produced success time after time. When you’re talking about sure-fire matings, the cross between +Mr. V8 380/6 and Avery is one that has written breed history. An added bonus, Miss V8 952/6 is a full sister to +Miss V8 805/6, the dam of Mr. V8 146/8 and the National Champion, Miss V8 293/8. Plus, her grand dam +827/4 raised an International Champion, Mr. V8 612/5, making the prepotency of 276/9 unmatched. We have produced 20 ET calves with this mating and kept seven daughters, all who are or will become donors for V8. We have sold six heifers from this cross, with two in past internet sales selling for $20,250 to El Monte Gringo and $39,000 to Billy Wolf. Four other +380/6 daughters averaged $21,750 to Don Waters, Baylie Clay, and Circle F Farms. Six sons by +380/6 averaged $18,000 to Tyler Farms, Gray Mosier, Tia Reed, Alex Cabrera, Hernando Guerra, Ildefonso Flores Ruiz and Rafael Fernadez. This heifer's flushmate is our best bull yet from this mating, Mr. V8 872/8. Miss V8 276/9 is almost a carbon copy to Billy Wolf 's $39,000 heifer. Identical in color, she has the same style, balance, and eye appeal. She’s feminine and refined with good thickness and muscle. Every sire in four generations is Register of Renown and recognized as a great breeding sire - every one! From a carcass standpoint, she is a powerhouse, ranking in the top 3-5% for CWT, Marbling, REA, and Retail Product. Her growth numbers are in the top 13% (WW) and 11% (YW) for the breed. This female should certainly continue the 805 legacy and provide a lot of fun ways to mate and flush her. Great cow families produce great calves. BW: 72 lbs. BW

A very unique +Mr. V8 458/7 “Noble” daughter out of our young donor Miss V8 442/8, a +Mr. V8 191/7 daughter. This heifer’s dark red pigmentation offers great possibilities for both grey and red Brahman breeders. She has been an eye-catcher since birth and much discussion has been made about which of the three red pigmented heifers (280/9, 281/9, and 282/9) is the best! We’ll let the market decide, but if you want to be safe in your selection, buy all three and take them home and breed them all in your program. That’s something to think about. This long-bodied, up-headed heifer has gotten better every day. Probably the most attractive headed and refined necked heifer in the sale. I personally like this heifer very much. She is a ¾ sister to the 2019 National Champion Female, Miss V8 483/8, being sired by Noble and out of 280/9’s maternal grand dam, +Miss V8 696/6. Also of interest, in the October Brahman Journal, the top two ranking “Queens” of the ABBA performance females are daughters of +Miss V8 696/6 and full sisters, Miss V8 483/8 and Miss V8 485/8. Along this line of thinking, +Miss V8 696/6’s dam $Miss V8 910/4 is a Register of Renown, Maternal Merit, and Vanguard dam. Performance and predictability bred in, generation after generation. This female has a tremendously soft maternal look with a striking show ring presence. She is very sound and square moving and should be competitive at any level. I think she will make a top cow. This heifer’s EPDs are overpowering with six measurements ranking in the top 5% or better: top 1% for YW and Docility, top 2% for WW, top 3% for REA, top 4% CWT and finally, top 5% for tenderness! Quite impressive. BW: 76 lbs. BW 3.4

We've been excited about this heifer since she was born. A long and much-anticipated mating, she did not disappoint and had that WOW factor from the moment she first stood up. A favorite on social media since Manuel Amparan posted her picture months ago, and tracing back to the Rose cow family, she should have been! Sired by Mr. V8 146/8 and out of the leading young donor on the ranch, Miss V8 33/8, she was destined for greatness. Mr. V8 146/8 has produced tremendous muscle, thickness, breed character, and uniformity of quality in his first calf crop. More importantly, his birthweights have been very acceptable with no outliers, and the demand for his calves has been beyond our expectations. Miss V8 33/8’s first flush produced Mr. V8 322/8, one of our most exciting young sire prospects and the 2019 International Calf Champion and 2020 International Junior Champion, plus two great flushmates, Miss V8 796/8 and Miss V8 799/8, both beautiful daughters of 380/6. Miss V8 33/8 has averaged $65,000 on her first five calves sold and we have kept two replacement show heifers. We have two outstanding young January 2020 brothers to 281/9 at the show barn that will debut at Houston 2021. This red tinged female is just a flat out high-performing heifer. Deep and long-bodied, very feminine and “soft” in her phenotype with a powerful hindquarter and hip. Please study her EPDs as they are very noteworthy. She is in the top 1% for WW, YW, and the top 2% to 7% for CWT, REA, DOC, and CED. Quite impressive with a 72 pound birthweight. She could be bred successfully for both a red or grey progressive, forward thinking breeder. Pay attention here. BW: 72 lbs. BW 3.4

A beautiful dark pigmented heifer sired by +Mr. V8 458/7 “Noble” out of one of our young dark pigmented +Mr. V8 380/6 daughters, Miss V8 591/7. This young donor traces back to some of our best high performing donor cows, including the +Miss V8 188/5 cow and +Ms Claydesta 203-807U5. The cross of Noble and The Machine has proven time and time again to be a great one, not only in the US but across the world wherever Brahman cattle graze. This heifer is just flat out good. She has lots of muscle, shape, a big top and hip with a very clean underline and beautiful refinement and femininity. Her performance is off the charts with her WW, YW, CWT, and Docility ranking in the top 1% of the breed. That’s four top 1% with 3 more traits (SC, REA, and Tenderness) in the top 8%. A lot of performance in growth traits and carcass traits with a very light actual birthweight of 72 pounds. Folks, that’s really hard to achieve in the real world of breeding cattle. As an added bonus, this heifer is very gentle. She will make a nice donor cow but also be a really nice heifer for a young showman to begin their career with. Her dam, Miss V8 591/7, has produced some outstanding calves for us. Her calves have averaged $12,750 and she has had two top sellers in past internet sales with the heifers going to Heidi Ortolon and Miss Bobbie at VP Cutting. They have grown into beautiful dark pigmented females with excellent dispositions. I think this heifer has really great potential for a competitive show heifer but know she will make a beautiful, gentle front pasture cow. She’ll be a pleasure to own. BW: 72 lbs. BW
