WHAT IS A V8 SUPERBLEND?
Whether bull or a female, an animal belongs to the cow family of its dam. Often, we will breed animals from prominent cow families with bulls who boast the power from one of our other cow families. The result is what we call a Superblend™. As you explore the pedigree of our cattle, you’ll notice the blending of multiple cow families across generations of cattle. While the primary designation for our cattle is always determined by their dam's cow family, we have created a Superblend™ label to recognize animals hailing from a blend of two exceptional cow families. For example, +Miss V8 33/8 in the Rose cow family (Rose is her maternal grand dam), also blends with the Claydesta 807U5 cow family through her sire +Mr. V8 191/7. Look for the Superblend™ icon to identify cattle that represent a mix from more than one cow family.
Once again, it’s my pleasure to pull back the curtain and unveil our next group of Made for Magic heifers.
We intentionally designed the Made for Magic sales as a way for our customers to access the cream of each V8 crop. For every sale, we build a collection of females that offers our best pedigrees and the legendary V8 characteristics breeders have come to expect from our females. The data from the past five sales reflects those efforts, and it’s a true honor to see our females at work in some of the best herds in the world.
After each sale, I wonder how we’ll top it, but the magic of these cow families - and their monumental influence - never cease to amaze me. The heifers in this sale, Made for Magic VI, have the best pedigrees we've ever offered. The sires in this group are the absolute top-tier bulls we have here at the ranch. And each dam is one that has achieved, or is destined to achieve, legendary status in V8 Ranch history. It’s a painfully joyous, bittersweet experience, letting go of any portion of these cow families, but I know that their influence will be magical once they join your herds.
New for this year, each of the heifers is halterbroke and entered in the National Brahman Show, which will be held in Shreveport, Louisiana in early November.
It’s not just these Made for Magic females that are worthy of your attention; our private treaty offering is well worth the drive to Boling. Full siblings to these females, as well as many other exciting matings, will be available as additions to your herd.
Made for Magic VI lands right in the middle of the fall show season, and attending these shows highlights our shared passion and our good fortune to be part of such an incredible breed and industry. We look forward to seeing you and your family, whether it’s at the ranch or at the next Brahman event. Please call if we can be of any assistance.
Sincerely, Jim WilliamsIf this one doesn’t catch your eye, you might want to consult a doctor! This red-tinged female is moderate in her frame and very longbodied with a level topline; she shows the beautiful femininity and refinement found across the V8 cowherd.
Sired by +Mr. V8 146/8 “Sloan,” the only three-time Houston champion Brahman bull, Miss V8 606/9 has a very clean, tight underline paired with an easy fleshing look. And when you get behind her, she has plenty of thickness and muscle! Her dam, +Miss V8 879/6 is sired by +JDH Sir Avery Manso and out of a (+)JDH Mr. Woodman Manso daughter who was a $40,000 top-selling female in a past International Brahman sale. Miss V8 606/9’s impressive pedigree goes back to Liberty three times, and represents decades of strategic breeding from V8 and J.D. Hudgins, Inc. Miss V8 606/9 is a full sister to Mr. V8 891/8 “Pathfinder,” a powerhouse in the senior division of bulls this fall; his wins are documented alongside this lot. Of our sons of Sloan, he most closely resembles his iconic sire, showing many of the same attributes that have made him a worldwide phenomenon. Another brother, Mr. V8 875/8 has been an excellent show bull for Grace McCall. 606/9 and her flush-mate sisters are the first females born of this mating.

A DOMINATING PAIR OF BULLS FROM THE SAME MATING
Here’s
One of our coveted V8 Superblends, Miss V8 607/9 is from the +Miss V8 165/4 cow family, blended with Miss V8 539/6 through her sire, Mr. V8 562/8 “Guardian.” As an added bonus, her dam, 829/6, also blends with the Rose family. This heifer has the pedigree and genetic makeup to stand out in a crowd, both because of her looks and her quality. Her dam, Miss V8 829/6 is one of our very best-producing cows. An 829/6 daughter, Miss V8 472/9 “Magic,” sold for a record-setting $150,000 for one-half interest to Walters Livestock; she is one of our most popular females of all time. In our current V8 showstring, we have three different 829/6 daughters and five 829/6 sons. This comes as no surprise, as the female legacy behind 829/6 is perhaps unmatched in our herd, with her dam, granddam, great-granddam, and great-great granddam all being Register of Renown donor females. Two of those females were International Grand Champions.
Lot 2’s EPDs for seven different traits place her in the top 15% (or better) for the breed; she ranks in the top 2% for WW and the top 10% for YW. These performance-oriented traits are perfectly balanced and complemented by a CED of 7.00 (top 5%) and a total maternal EPD of 26 (top 3%.) There are myriad possibilities for mating this female using the most popular bloodlines in the breed, an important fact to remember when selecting future donors. Pay attention here.
829/6
A V8 Superblend™from the +Miss V8 165/4 cow family, blended with the Rose cow family, Miss V8 829/6 is one of the oldest females on the ranch at 15 years. A prolific egg producer who only seems to get better with age, this is her third daughter to be featured as a Made for Magic female.
All of the cattle below are out of Miss V8 829/6.
MISS
A picture is worth a thousand words, and this one says plenty! Look through the previous V8 sale catalogs, and you’ll see that the dam to this heifer, Miss V8 952/6, is in most of them. All of her daughters offered in previous sales were sired by +Mr. V8 380/6, who proved to be one of the most predictable and dominating matings in V8 Ranch history. We produced 22 ET calves from that mating and kept nine daughters, all of whom either are, or will become, donors for V8. After years of incredible results flushing Miss V8 952/6 to 380, we decided to try his son, the National Champion, Mr. V8 322/8. And this resulting heifer surpassed our greatest expectations.
One of our V8 Superblends, Lot 3 is from the +Miss V8 805/6 cow family, blended with +Miss V8 495/5 “Rose” through her sire, Mr. V8 322/8. The calves sired by Mr. V8 322/8 have been outstanding; he will be a big part of the future here at V8. The brood cow and donor potential of this lovely lady is off the charts! The thickest heifer of the group, she has tremendous depth of body and a long, level hip. Moderate in her kind, she is almost a carbon copy of her dam, who is a full sister to +Miss V8 805/6. The great +805/6 is the dam of +Mr. V8 146/8 “Sloan.” Plus, this heifer’s granddam, +Miss V8 827/4, raised an International Champion, Mr. V8 612/5. Profitability and predictability have been bred in, generation after generation.
Easy-keeping, low maintenance cattle like Miss V8 609/9 are a pleasure to own. I have plenty of confidence in the power of this cow family and the consistency of these genetics. At almost 15 years old, her mother still looks picture-perfect; imagine a pasture full of cows like this one….
If her pedigree’s the first thing you see, you’ll be thrilled to discover how good she looks. If you first see her in a photo or video clip, you’ll be delighted to learn how well she’s bred. It’s hard to decide which is more impressive, her
looks
her good pedigree. Luckily, you don’t have to decide - you get both!
Miss V8 613/9 is deep and long-bodied, very feminine, and “soft” in her phenotype with a powerful hindquarter and hip. A very three-dimensional female with plenty of eye appeal and presence, she is ready to turn heads.
Her mother is one of two great flushmates to Mr. V8 322/8. One of the bestkept secrets of our breeding program is utilizing outstanding flushmate sisters to our V8 herd bulls – they have high genetic value and their mating potential is endless. Truth be told, I like to collect them. (There's two of them in this sale - Lot 1, a full sister to Pathfinder, and Lot 5, a full sister to 322/8).
This heifer, out of a full sister to 322/8, bred back to +Mr. V8 146/8 “Sloan”, represents the freshest genetics and one of the most current matings we have at the ranch. She is a result of our process of stacking pedigrees, breeding “speed to speed,” and turning generations to keep a cowherd young.
Rounding out an impressive package, her EPDs put her in the top 15% or better for 6 different traits. A progressive, forward-thinking breeder could successfully breed her for both red and gray Brahmans but be prepared – she’s going to get a lot of extra attention! Congratulations to the new owner.
+MISS V8 495/5 "ROSE"
If you asked Jim Williams to name his top three all-time favorite cows on the ranch, chances are he’d include +Miss V8 495/5. In fact, it was Jim who nicknamed her “Rose” because of her enviable, red-tinted coat. Born and raised on the V8 Ranch, she was indeed the rose of Boling, Texas for her entire life; everyone agreed she was the loveliest cow on the ranch. Rose passed away in the summer of 2012. Today, when we see her red-tinged greatgranddaughter, +Miss V8 33/8, in the front pasture, we can’t help but remember Rose.
KARU MANSO
AND INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION
Lot 5 is a rarely offered direct daughter of the world-famous +Miss V8 33/8 who is not just one of our leading donors, but the leading donor at V8. 33/8 is a V8 Superblend™ from the Rose family, blended with the +Claydesta 807U5 cow family through her sire, +Mr. V8 191/7.
DAKOTA MANSO
LADY REM S. MANSO
Miss V8 614/9 is not just another 380 daughter; she is, quite simply, one of the best. I’m having a tough time letting go of this one, but I am committed to bringing you our best. The most powerfully bred heifer of the offering, Miss V8 614/9 is a full sister to Mr. V8 322/8. The 2020 National Champion bull, he has become an incredible young breeding sire. This female traces back to the original Rose cow, +Miss V8 495/5. This cow family has produced two National Champion Bulls and four Register of Renown females.
INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION
SIR AVERY MANSO
& WBC CHAMPION
OF SIRE
This red-tinged heifer doesn’t need a lot of hype; she speaks for herself. A picture-perfect 380 daughter, she is level-topped and long bodied with excellent hump placement. She has a very feminine and refined head; she is balanced in her body type; and she travels well on her feet and legs. +Mr. V8 380/6 has always left us great daughters. Each generation produces good-uddered cows that milk well and are even better than the previous generations; you like them better every day.
CHAMPION
Her EPDs rank in the top 10% or better for 6 different traits, including the top 1% for both WW and YW. If you are serious about raising good cattle, you need to own this spectacular female. Welcome to the fast lane.

MAGICAL MOMENTS
In our first Made for Magic Sale, we shook people by selling one-half interest in Miss V8 203/9 “Dreamgirl.” We heard: “I can’t believe you’re selling her!” and “She’s not a heifer you see at auction every day.” “Dreamgirl” went on to become the 2020 National Champion Female, the Grand Champion in the Cattlemen’s Congress, and the Reserve Grand Champion at both the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and the ABBA Winter Classic, placing 2nd (91 points) in ABBA’s 2020-2021 Premier Gray Show Female of the Year. She may have been the first, but she isn’t the only Magic female to bring home the purple. In every sale, we’ve offered up some of our very best heifers, and they have the accolades to prove it. We look forward to seeing which lots from Made for Magic VI will earn their own fame and glory.
