From the first to the last lesson during this unit you will be creating studio work. You will be focusing on the technical process of producing artwork, investigating the visual qualities and ideas involved in its creation, documenting your creative process in your Investigation workbooks. Your first task is to:
Create an abstract sculpture to use as source material for creative thinking Using your sculpture as your creative muse, you will experiment, explore and reinterpret its visual qualities through a variety of media, focusing on the visual elements - line, tone, texture, shape, form, pattern and colour and design principles You will develop artwork through (though not limited by) investigative drawing, photography, collage, digital media(both 2D & 3D),ceramics, construction (relief & 3D), painting, printmaking. Your final piece(s) of studio work should be the culmination of all your research, experimentation and ideation. Your work may be completed in a variety of media and should be based upon a combination of media investigations.
PRESENTATION VOCABULARY Demonstrate effective and accurate use of visual arts specialist vocabulary ACKNOWLEDGE SOURCES The use of a range of appropriate sources, which are acknowledged properly PRESENTATION The effective and creative presentation of work that demonstrates thoughtful, critical observation, reflection and discrimination INTEGRATION The presentation of a clear relationship between investigation and studio work
This project is based upon the “Bundle Up! Thinking in Three Dimensions” lesson plan devised as part of an Artist in Residency programme at AlbrightKnox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York.
