GOPURAMS WERE THE ENTRANCE GATEWAYS TO TEMPLE COMPLEXES. HERE, A MUCH SCALED OWN HUMAN PROPORTIONATE STRUCTURE HAS BEEN USED NEAR THE ENTRANCE, FURTHER ADORNED BY THE STATUE OF NATARAJ.
THE CONCEPT IS TO DIVIDE THE SITE RELATING TO THE SEQUENCE OF SPACES IN A SOUTH-INDIAN TEMPLE. GARBA-GRIHA
IS THE SEAT OF GOD. GOD=GURU. HENCE THE GURU’S RESIDENCES ARE LOCATED IN THIS ZONE.
ARDHA-MANDAPA IS THE
GATHERING AREA OF THE DEVOTEES, RELATED TO THE OPEN-AIR GATHERING AREAS, YOGA SPACES AND AMPHITHEATRES.
BHOG MANDIR IS THE OFFERING ZONE IN TEMPLES, THE MOST PUBLIC ZONE, FOR THE PUBLIC. HENCE, THE AREA IS DEDICATED TO ADMINISTRATIVE AND MANAGEMENT BLOCKS
NAT MANDIR IS THE PERFOMNXE
PRINCIPLES AND CONCEPTS
AREA IN TEMPLES. ON-SITE THE ZONE IS DEDICATED TO DANCE AND MUSIC STUDIOS AND MOSTLY THEY ARE SEMI-OPEN IN CHARACTER AS IN TEMPLES.
AT A BUILDING LEVEL, THE IDEA WAS TO CONSTRUCT USING SUSTAINABLE AND
LOCALLY AVAILABLE MATERIALS LIKE MUD BLOCKS AND MAJORLY BAMBOO. THIS PROVIDES A HOMELY FEEL TO THE ENTIRE SITE, AN ESSENTIAL ASPECT OF GURUKULS.
THE SPACING REDUCES AS ONE MOVES THROUGH THESITE- SIMILAR TO THE
INCREASING COMPACTNESS OF TEMPLES.

MEERUT PAURI NATIONALHIGHWAY NAJIBABAD KOTDWAR ROAD
DESIGN IDEA IS TO BUIT A ICONIC GATEWAY WHICH WILL BE THE ENTRANCE TO THE GARWHAL REGION (HIMALAYAN RANGES) FROM ITS ORIGIN CITY "KOTDWAR".
DEVELOPMENT
HE CONCEPT OF LOAD TRANSFER TO A SINGLE POINT THE DESIGN WAS THEN GIVEN THE FORM OF 2
HELICALLY STRUCTURES ARCHES SPANNING OVER THE ROAD. BETWEEN THEN 2 MORE ARCHES, SUPPORTED AT A POINT HAVE BEEN PROVIDED FOR IDEA OF POINT LOAD WAS SUPPORT. DROPPED AND THE EACH MEMBER OF THE PREVIOUS STRUCTURE WAS SEPARATED. THE STRUCTURE WAS FURTHER ELONGATED.THE STRUCTURE NOW LOOKED LIKE A CARCASS, A
LINEAR ARRANGEMENT OF ARCHES. THE DIRECTION OF TILT OF THE ARCHES WAS CHANGED
AND CONSECUTIVE ARCHES WERE SUPPORTING EACH OTHER BY THEIR INTERSECTION NEAR THE BASE. THIS HOWEVER REDUCED THE CLEAR HEIGHT OVER THE ROAD SURFACE.
