WAR MEMORIAL PARK

CONCEPT 1 The idea is to create a sequence of spaces along the axis running from India gate, which will act as the axis of

peace.

All the other spaces to design along the same axis

in the sequence as mentioned above.

Intervening

galleries- each gallery representing the different wars. The gallery spaces tend to cut through the axis of peacerepresenting the reality of a war situation.

CONCEPT 2 The ultimate effect of bars is to tear apart countries and people, leading to divide and disintegration. When the design will represent such destruction and the ruins of the war, automatically the visitors will tend to feel uneasy and unhappy about the dilapidated condition. And hence when one would think back upon the experience, they will be faced with the rationality of war and the importance of peace and stability. This provocation of thought is the soul purpose of the space designed.

DESIGN IDEA IS TO BUIT A ICONIC GATEWAY WHICH WILL BE THE ENTRANCE TO THE GARWHAL REGION (HIMALAYAN RANGES) FROM ITS ORIGIN CITY "KOTDWAR".

DEVELOPMENT

HE CONCEPT OF LOAD TRANSFER TO A SINGLE POINT THE DESIGN WAS THEN GIVEN THE FORM OF 2

HELICALLY STRUCTURES ARCHES SPANNING OVER THE ROAD. BETWEEN THEN 2 MORE ARCHES, SUPPORTED AT A POINT HAVE BEEN PROVIDED FOR IDEA OF POINT LOAD WAS SUPPORT. DROPPED AND THE EACH MEMBER OF THE PREVIOUS STRUCTURE WAS SEPARATED. THE STRUCTURE WAS FURTHER ELONGATED.THE STRUCTURE NOW LOOKED LIKE A CARCASS, A

LINEAR ARRANGEMENT OF ARCHES. THE DIRECTION OF TILT OF THE ARCHES WAS CHANGED

AND CONSECUTIVE ARCHES WERE SUPPORTING EACH OTHER BY THEIR INTERSECTION NEAR THE BASE. THIS HOWEVER REDUCED THE CLEAR HEIGHT OVER THE ROAD SURFACE.
