Because my surname starts with the letter “M”, the artwork that is alocated for me is a “Malkari” by Fiona Omeenyo, Australian indigenous female painter. Fiona Omeenyo paintings continue to reflect both traditional stories and contemporary themes associated with cultural, social and environmental concerns. The artists figurative compositions represent blood line, which connects ancestral spirits with kin relationships amidst coastal beach and reef imagery. Through supernatural manner, ancestors exist simultaneously with the present-day generation. According to Omeenyo, the ancestors exit simultaneously with the modern day generations, therefore her themes always revolve around bloodline, togetherness and family.
