Warsaw’s snack scene may lag behind Europe’s other major capitals but it’s fast catching up. In this regard, no place has won as many admirers this past year as Chimi & Churri, an intimate alcove sparingly decorated with a map of Argentina and a miniature Argentine flag. Where design touches are concerned, nothing more is needed for that would only detract from the headline act: a counter filled with military-style formations of delicious empanadas.

Praised for their authenticity by the city’s South American population, these pasty-like pockets of flaky goodness come with a variety of stuffings, among them Argentine beef with Malbec, and the equally fantastic pork and mango sauce. Vegetarians, too, are catered for, with the options including caprese (fresh Albahaca basil, tomato and mozzarella) and the

Funghi (seasonal mushrooms, dried tomato, mozzarella).

Handmade on site, these are paired with the house chimichurri sauce and are best followed by Alfajores cookies filled with dulce de leche. And just to show they really mean business, wash it down with one of their Mates. An incredible place of heart and passion, Chimi & Churri has found itself fast-tracked into the realm of Warsaw legend.
