The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board (VFTCB) is a private, non-profit, membership-based sales and marketing organization that actively promotes the Valley Forge area and Montgomery County, PA as a convention site and leisure visitor destination by promoting patronage of its member hotels, restaurants, attractions, and services.
The VFTCB is on a mission to increase economic prosperity by promoting Montgomery County’s natural, cultural, and historic assets to raise visibility as a tourism destination for leisure and convention markets. These efforts are meant to drive revenue to our member and partner businesses. The sales and marketing teams work together to fill the more than 9,500 hotel rooms in the county by targeting meeting, sports, tourism, and leisure businesses, sending the sales team to conferences and conventions throughout the country and across the globe, and strategically marketing to target audiences through print, radio, TV, and social media campaigns.
The Board’s funding comes from a combination of a tax imposed on visitors occupying the county’s hotel rooms and membership dues.

Inclusion
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are extremely important to the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board. A Message From the President MIKE BOWMAN
To our members and partners,
This year has been all about the future for us. And, it’s hard to look ahead without thinking about what’s possible. Because when you really think about it, there’s always been a time when we thought something couldn’t happen. Truth is, there always will be. But it’s those who dare to dream of the impossible that turn imagining such potential into reality.
As an organization, we task ourselves with thinking about what we can make happen for our member businesses and strategic partners. When, in fact, you are the ones who make so much possible. For instance, who would’ve thought the Elmwood Park Zoo would have opened a brand-new, $41 million veterinary hospital and welcome center? Or that Netflix would choose Montgomery County, PA to let fans experience their favorite shows? To us, the less likely, the better. We love turning everything from national tournaments to world-renowned brand events from probable to definite. That’s just one of the many things that makes us one of the best tourism boards in the region… and the state.
Here’s what just imagining some possibilities has helped us achieve:
• Visitor spending in 2023 generated $1.7 billion — that’s 6.8% or $110 million more than 2022. That means the total positive economic impact for tourism in Montco was $2.4 billion in 2023!
• Hospitality jobs now actually account for more than 41,000 employees in the county, and Montco’s family of hotels is now up to 84!
• The Valley Forge Sports team beat its previous record for largest individual event to date with the YMCA Gymnastics, which attracted 10,000 spectators, and 1,900 athletes to Montco.
• Our 3rd Annual Montco Jazz Fest was our biggest ever with 32 events in 26 venues across 13 towns — more than double last year! Plus, we expanded our support and promotion for cultural spots by launching the Arts Montco Pass.
• The 18th Annual Valley Forge Revolutionary 5-Mile Run reached another all-time high with an $80,000 donation to Valley Forge National Historical Park! And, our Visitor Services team presented to the National Park Service Advisory Panel as a “best practice” example for stellar park and tourism board partnerships.
• Our membership community growth is up 62% over last year! Members are engaging with their benefits more than ever with over 960 events submitted to our consumer calendar.
• We ran several marketing campaigns this year for everything from date nights and affordable, family-friendly fun to Crave, America250 and beer that garnered more than 33 million impressions, and almost 210,000 clicks!
• Our website, valleyforge.org, saw over 1.4 million pageviews this year. With 600,000 new users, we reached our highest email subscriber count yet!
• Visit Valley Forge & Montco have more than 240,000 followers across all social media platforms, and we’ve generated more than 5 million video views so far.
• There were more than 1,300 stories (no. 1 in the region!) about Montgomery County reaching more than 2.1 billion people (no. 1 in the regon!) — a $19.5 million value.
Now, you have our commitment to continue to use data to make sure that tourism and hospitality keeps driving our economy. And, to help us get ready for historic milestones and regional happenings that will bring unthinkably high visitation numbers – more than we’ve ever seen. If that’s feasible, just imagine what’s possible next.
Mike Bowman President & CEO Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board
So, let’s go do the impossible together.

Our continued FREE-K Out in Montco campaign featured the same hilarious family having fun in the county with videos cut specifically for social, New York Times content, and a partnership with Thrillist.

MARKETING& COMMUNICATIONS
Montco History Pass
This pass guides visitors through 15 historical homes, parks, and museums, showcasing the Revolutionary War and early Pennsylvania history, and relaunched late April 2024.
SXSW 2024
SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST
In March, we attended this annual event celebrating the convergence of film, tech, music, and education. We partnered with Witty Gritty & Amplify Philly House for brand marketing across digital and printed materials, program access, social mentions, and a collaborative attendee survey.
Arts Montco Pass
We extended Arts Montco Week to a year-long promotion, boosting foot and web traffic to arts and culture venues. In the spring, we launched the Bandwango Arts Montco Pass, offering check-ins at over 30 cultural spots across the county, where users earn points and SWAG like stickers, candles, and tote bags. We hosted a FAM tour with 12 influencers, amassing over 83,000 impressions, supported by a retargeting campaign.
Montco Jazz Fest
The 3rd Annual Montco Jazz Fest, held Sept. 19-22, was a huge success with 32 events at 26 venues in 13 towns across Montgomery County. The festival celebrated jazz’s Legacy theme, honoring the genre’s living legends. Curator Joanna Pascale continued empowering female voices, building on last year’s Women in Jazz focus. We also partnered with the nonprofit Key of She Jazz to encourage more girls to play jazz music.
Our website, valleyforge.org had more than 1.7 million page views in 2023. This year, due to innovative digital strategies, our website is on track to exceed that number. Here’s what we’ve achieved so far in 2024.

FREEDOM FROM HUNGER
The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board’s Freedom from Hunger initiative celebrated 10 years in 2024, along with the 10th anniversary of its partner, the MontCo Anti-Hunger Network, a coalition of hunger relief organizations working together to keep families stable with food assistance.
The drives help provide resources to over 70 food pantries, banks, and free meal providers that feed those who are food insecure in Montco. In Montco, food pantries surveyed by MAHN between the start and end of 2023 saw a 60.7% increase in the number of visits to each pantry.
For the fall kitchen takeover, the VFTCB staff, Montgomery County Community College Hospitality Institute Chefs, and Montgomery County Commissioner Tom DiBello returned to the site of its first-ever location at Siloam Baptist Church in Norristown with food donated by HUNGRY Catering, and ice cream donated from Merrymead Farm in Lansdale.
