Valley Key Clubbers fill up water guns and buckets with water to spray runners with.

We were volunteering at the Sprinkler Sprint, and I was very excited. We waited for the director and she instructed us to fill up buckets with water and to grab a water gun. After a while of preparing and getting ready, the racers started coming. We squirted them with water as they came. We did some of our favorite Key Club cheers, and you could see the smiles on the racers' face as they came by. Everyone was having a great time. We then saw the last racer coming, and a

metro officer on a motorcycle followed behind her. As soon as the director spoke the words, "That's the last racer," my whole club broke into a water fight. I stood there for a moment looking at everyone as they played in the water, and I thought about how happy I was to be in such a great club. After a moment I was sprayed with water, and I quickly grabbed a water gun and sprayed at everyone. This event has so amazing. I

Summer Service— June Edition: Sage de la Garza!

7

Q: How do you serve your community during the summer? A: During the summer, I volunteer at different events through Key Club and Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. I always want to help out my community whenever I can. I really like helping out at different 5K events. At these different service events, I meet other Key Club members from other high schools. Serving your community is a great way to meet new people and make new friends.

Runners were awarded with these really great medals as

they reached the finish line.

The Dads Rock Too 5k/1-Mile community service event was awesome! Volunteers who attended the event were able to do many things such as pass out medals, cheer at the finish line, unwrap medals, and also direct runners throughout Floyd Lamb Park!

At the event, volunteers were able to communicate with event coordinators, and have fun themselves through service! When the event came to a close, volunteers were able to receive metals and t-shirts as well! In all, it was an awesome service event for Valley Key Club! - Karl Catarata // VKC President
