Member Miguel Ordanez’s take on: Iron Man 70.3 Triathlon “At this event, I learned how to organize myself. In the beginning, we were unorganized and there was a lot of waiting and we weren’t doing much, so I decided to independently hand out snacks. We also cheered the runners on a lot and some even started smiling as they ran along. It was an organized event and so much fun and I learned as I went along.”

Valley Key Club at Three Square Las Vegas!
Member Lucy Branch’s take on: Three Square Las Vegas “The Three Square event was interesting and ended up being pretty fun. We assembled forty pound boxes of food for distribution to people that needed it. The event lasted for two hours and we assembled over forty boxes. We worked as fast as we could and it got pretty hectic at times, like when we couldn’t reach the canned foods at the bottom of the box and had to have someone stand inside it to hand out the cans. Overall it was great and we learned that hunger doesn’t discriminate. I’ll take that with me for the rest of my life.”

Valley Key Club at the October DCM!
Sergeant at Arms Shannon Roberts’ take on: October DCM “My experience at the October DCM was a great one! Not only was it my first DCM, but it was the one right before RTC 2014, so I got to see what other clubs have been doing to prepare for this event. It was really
great to meet people from other clubs and to hear what kind of service they have been doing. I even got to meet SECTA Key Club's SAA! I am so grateful for the opportunity to attend this event and really see how far Key Club's service goes.”

#RTC
Around 7:00AM on October 18th, Key Clubbers from all across the region gathered at Centennial High School for Region 5 Training Conference and filled the area with spirit and cheering! Valley Key Club prepped for their shining moment by painting their faces, setting up spirit gear, and cheering their hearts out.

C2014
During Region 5 Training Conference, Key Clubbers filed into the gym to participate in workshops led by the LTGs of the Region. Valley Key Club was able to show off their cheering skills, eat lunch, and bond with each other and other Key Clubbers.

Letter from the President on #RTC2014 Hello there Valley Vikings! As your 33rd President, I am proud to announce that Valley Key Club has won both the D28S Spirit Stick and Region 5 Zombie Penguins Spirit Stick at RTC 2014! Based on a unanimous vote by the Region 5 Team, Valley Key Club had the amazing journey of winning RTC! It has been four long years since we have won a spirit stick. Through these past three months, I have seen many of you develop and grow as leaders as you prepared for this training conference. I have seen dedication across the Valley Key Club Administration and pure dedication from you, the members. We would not have won without YOU. Words themselves, and these words especially, do not sum up the over joyous feeling I have as President to be serving and representing you all. I am extremely proud and honored to have won RTC with all of you. From cheering on other schools after their cheers, to winning ALL of the spirit battles, the words "fantastic" "amazing" and "awesome" simply are not enough! I am glad that I was able to be a part of it all during this 2014-2015 Key Club year. It was great presenting at the Presidents/Vice President's Workshop and representing how successful our club is, and just having fun by knowing we did well. I cannot wait to see what else we can accomplish in the next few months. This is just the beginning. I hope every single person had fun attending Region 5 Training Conference, and I hope that next year, we will be able to continue to be the loudest and the proudest of them all! Through integrity and service,
Karl Catarata

Note from the Editor
Hello, Reader! How absolutely crazy has this month been? From service events, to committee meetings, to spirit preps, to sleepless nights, and so much more, VKC has done it all! I don’t regret any of it. The bulk of these passed few months
were really dedicated to gearing up for RTC, and it’s been such a fun and stressful process. Being able to see my club progress every single step of the way to their highest moment when we won both spirit sticks—honestly, I have to say it’s been amazing. I am so proud of the membership and how spirited they were, even when there were moments where we were tired. They really stuck it out and that in itself gives me so much inspiration. I am so proud to serve them and to be a part of this club. I also want to acknowledge the Valley Key Club Administration and how hard they’ve worked to get to this point. I am proud to serve with such a competent and driven board. Congratulations, Valley Key Club! We did it.
In the spirit of service,
Alissa Dumo
