Noteworthy Achievements
Valley View was again designated as a Level III Trauma Center by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, a designation Valley View has held since 1998.
As a Level III Trauma Center, Valley View provides 24-hour coverage by emergency medicine physicians, general surgeons and anesthesiologists. Emergency care is available for all ages including infants, children and adults. As part of this designation, Valley View promptly provides assessment, resuscitation, surgery, intensive care, and stabilization of injured patients and emergency operations. Valley View also has special partnerships with other Colorado hospitals to transfer patients requiring more comprehensive care via the Classic Air helicopter.

25 Years Of Supporting Student Athletes
For 25 years, Valley View has provided a pro-bono, sports medicine program to the Roaring Fork School District. With a primary focus to keep athletes safe from injuries, Valley View will continue its dedication to the Roaring Fork School District by providing staff salaries, equipment and supplies for the athletic trainers at Glenwood Springs High School, Roaring Fork High School and Basalt High School. Over the duration of the partnership, Valley View has invested nearly $7 million in the district’s student-athletes.
2020-2021 RESILIENCY AWARD
In February, Valley View received special recognition from the Glenwood Springs Chamber of Commerce for its response to the challenges of 2020 and 2021. Valley View was showcased for being on the forefront of COVID-19, by not only caring for patients but leading the community in administering COVID-19 vaccines. When the Grizzly Creek fire sparked on August 10, 2020, the team at Valley View rallied again to overcome challenges related to supply routes and commuting to ensure no disruption to patient care.
RE-DESIGNATION
Valley View once again achieved the highly prestigious international Baby-Friendly designation after a rigorous review process conducted by Baby-Friendly USA, the organization responsible for bestowing this certification in the United States. Redesignated through 2026, Valley View has held this important designation since 2016.
“Valley V iew has long been a recognized leader in the care of women and newborns,” said Ellen H. Brooks, MD, FAAP, medical director of pediatrics at Valley View. “This redesignation is a tribute to our commitment to this care. We ensure every woman who delivers a baby at our facility is given the resources, information and support needed to help her and her baby get the best, healthiest start in life.”

2022 WOMEN’S CHOICE AWARD
Valley View was named one of America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics, Heart Care and Minimally Invasive Surgeries by the 2022 Women’s Choice Award®. The Award only honors the top 10% of hospitals in the nation. The award signifies that Valley View is in the top 3% for obstetrics, top 4% for heart care and top 6% for minimally invasive surgeries.
