FromservingasalaypersonforthelateBishopWalkerinArkansasFirstJurisdictionCOGIC,to working as a Jurisdictional Administrative Assistant to Bishop Lindsey, and now serving with PrelateBishopAndersoninArkansasSecondJurisdictionCOGIC.
Hellums joined COGIC at the age of 5 in 1960, 64 years ago, at the old Trinity Temple COGIC, under the pastorate of Saint DeWitt Hill. He accepted his calling to the Gospel ministry at age 18, having been raised in the Church of God in Christ by his mother and grandmother. With the doctrine imparted by his pastor, Saint DeWitt Hill, and led by the Holy Spirit, he ministered the Word of God at Cummins Prison for 33 years. He served in various roles at Trinity Temple his home church, including usher, choir member, chairman of the Ministerial Board, Trustee, Vice President of the Youth Department, Member of the Program Committee, and more. He also served as District Evangelist President under the late District Superintendent Paul L. Barnes and as DistrictChairmanforthelateSuperintendentJoeStocker.
In 1977, appointed by the late Bishop Leato Walker, of AR First Jurisdiction COGIC, tobetheleaderoftheStatePrisonMinistry.HisfirstJurisdictionalPosition In1978,ordainedasanElderbyBishopLeatoWalker.
In 1980, His first Pastoral appointment by the late Bishop Leato Walker in Alexander,ARtotheBibleMissionChurchofGodinChrist. In1982,appointedtotheMt.OliveChurchofGodinChristinHumphrey,AR.
In 1985, resigned and founded the Truth and Love Church of God in Christ in Pine Bluff,AR
in 1986, installed as pastor of Truth and Love Church of God in Christ, by Bishop Walker.ServedunderBishopWalkerfor28years,
In2000,ledbytheHolyGhosttocomeundertheleadershipofBishopD.L.Lindsey, ofArkansasSecondJurisdictionCOGIC.
In 2002, Bishop Lindsey appointed me to the office of District Superintendent of PineBluffNewDayDistrict.
In 2004, appointed to the office of Administrative Assistant under Bishop Lindsey then after Bishop Anderson was elevated to Jurisdictional Prelate he remained as oneofhisAdministrativeAssistantsOverSpiritualAffairs.
In2005,foundedtheTruthandLoveWorshipCenterofLittleRock,Arkansas ACommunityWorker
Appointed by Mayor Debe Hollingsworth as Area Ministry Advisor and Future DeveloperinPineBluff,AR.
Appointed by Reverend Dr. Jessie Turner to serve on the Steering Committee for Weed and Seed, A Federally Funded program for the betterment of low-income communities.
He is the husband of one wife, Lady Cynthia Elaine Hellums. Together they have seven(7)children:CedricDewayne,HenryJr.,MeiaShaniece,Christopher,Corbin, Evan,andCameron,and(8)grandchildren.
