We are so excited to welcome you to the Valpo family and to campus for an amazing academic year. Welcome Week is the very best time to learn more about campus life, student traditions, student engagement, and so much more! The Welcome Week schedule is designed to help new students learn their way around campus, understand the expectations of Valparaiso University students, meet new people, and have fun!

Included in Welcome Week is a series of mandatory programs that are designed to ensure that all new students understand our commitment to being a welcoming and inclusive community, a community that is healthy and safe for everyone, with a focus on academic success and fulfilling engagement. Please make sure that you have your OneCard with you for these sessions, as attendance is being tracked to ensure all new students are in attendance.

Check your Valpo email for housing, roommate, and move–in appointment information by early August. Plan to arrive on campus 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to minimize the time you have to wait in line.

Music Information Desk and Locker Checkout — Center for the Arts, Locker Area

Students with instruments who intend to play in music department ensembles may check out lockers in the Center for the Arts. Attendants at the table can answer questions about music ensembles, auditions, and lessons. Additional locker checkout times will be held Monday-Wednesday in the main office. Follow @ValpoMusic.

Welcome Sunday Choir Rehearsal — Chapel of the Resurrection, West Gallery

All new students are invited to be part of the volunteer choir of students, faculty, and staff that sing at the 10 a.m. worship service the next morning, Sunday, August 18. Rehearsal will last one hour. Follow @ValpoChapel.

Time to Part Ways

Participating in Welcome Week events is important for students to connect quickly with new friends. Families who would like to meet their student for morning worship should arrange a time to meet tomorrow in the Chapel lobby. Students have required Welcome Week activities beginning at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow. Thank you for your hard work and support that made this day possible!

5 p.m.

First-Year Residence Hall Floor Meetings

This event is required for first-year students living on campus. Meet others who live on your floor, and then head over to dinner and late-night events with your new friends. Check with your resident assistant (RA) for details.

Commuter Student Meet-Up — Christopher Center, Community Room

Get to know other commuting students during this informal meet-up in the Residential Life Suite, which includes the Commuter Lounge. Attend the evening events together.

Spend time today in service at the Gabis Arboretum as we help with planting, weeding, and removing invasive species. Roundtrip transportation is provided, but space is limited so sign up early. DANCE ENSEMBLE AUDITIONS

The department of music welcomes students interested in stage performance to audition for its annual dance concert. The show is choreographed and directed by Valpo students and faculty, and auditions are open to students of all experience levels. Rehearsals take place for one to two hours per week during the fall semester, in preparation for four performances in February 2025 on the University Theatre stage.
