This 12-credit certificate provides students with practical, handson experience in data manipulation, segmentation, econometric modeling and forecasting, and other data analysis techniques using SAS statistical software. Students are trained to perform complicated data analysis, critically evaluate business problems, and contribute to the development of business solutions. As a graduate student in either the master of science in international economics and finance (IEF) or master of science in analytics and modeling (AMOD), this optional certificate can be built right into your program with no additional credit requirements.
Applicants must meet all the requirements of the Valparaiso University graduate programs. Students who are not enrolled in a graduate program at Valparaiso University must apply as non-degree seeking students. Students may transfer up to three credits from a different institution, subject to the Valpo transfer policy. Transfer credit is reviewed and approved by the certificate advisor.
I graduated from Valparaiso University with a bachelors and two masters degrees, the second being international economics and finance (IEF). The various courses in the IEF program, covering economics, statistics, and finance, among others, have helped me to become more aware of economic issues across the world. The IEF program also helped me to develop ideas to help my home country (Jamaica) to continue on a sustainable growth path.
