any homeowners embark on renovation journeys to add more space, accommodating growing families or changing needs. Others might focus on upgrading their interiors with new cabinets, counters, appliances, and fixtures to refresh their living spaces. The reasons for home remodeling are as varied as the projects themselves. The question ‘where do I start?’ can seem daunting, but not when you’re working with Tile by Tony. “For the last 30 years we’ve been doing full kitchen and bathroom remodels, from sheetrock and framing to tile, plumbing, and cabinets,” Tony Sementi said, owner of Tile by Tony.

Tony and his team of trusted experts, who have been with the company for 6 to 20 years, bring reliability and craftsmanship to every project. Known for their dedication and quality, they operate with a “contractor for life” philosophy, ensuring that they are your partners in maintaining and enhancing your home for the life of your remodel. “We want to wow our customers without giving them the hassle or frustration that comes when trying to do it themselves.”

Things to keep in mind when approaching your next remodel project:

Understanding the Financials: Your Budget

Before you even pick out a tile or draft a design, understanding your budget is paramount in maximizing your investment. At Tile by Tony, the experts can help guide your material and design choices to ensure they fit within your budget while still achieving the aesthetic and functionality you desire. Remember, transparency about costs from the get-go can prevent financial headaches later, that’s why Tile by Tony provides a comprehensive pricing guide that details all materials and costs, ensuring transparency and helping you budget effectively for your remodel. This breakdown allows customers to understand exactly where their investment goes, making the planning process straightforward and predictable. “If you’re too focused on price,

you’ll miss the value,” Tony said. “It’s best to come in with a budget in mind.”

Realistic Expectations: Project Timelines

A clear and realistic timeline not only helps manage your expectations but also help plan your life around the renovation. The duration of a renovation largely depends on the scope of the project. Tile by Tony’s professionals are adept at estimating how long your specific project will take, considering factors like material delivery and the scale of work. Always account for some flexibility in your timeline to accommodate any unexpected delays, ensuring a less stressful remodeling process. But more importantly, the homeowner-builder relationship is about transparency, honesty, and open communication

“It’s more than just doing the job. Your privacy is going to be shot for the length of the project, so I want to make sure we’re putting trustworthy people in your home,” he said.

Visualizing Success: Your Design Vision

Having a solid idea of what you want your space to look like after the remodel can significantly streamline the process. Whether it’s a modern look for your kitchen or a classic feel for your bathroom, clarity in your design goals helps everyone. Use resources like magazines, online platforms such as Pinterest, and advice from Tile by Tony’s design experts to shape your vision. These professionals can bring a wealth of knowledge, from suggesting the most durable materials to the most efficient layouts that could better serve your space.

“It’s our job to interpret our customer’s vision. They entrust it to us. And the best part will always be seeing their reaction to the finished product,” he said.

This comprehensive approach ensures that your remodel meets your expectations and enhances the overall value and enjoyment of your home. Ready to transform your space with confidence and expertise? Contact Tile by Tony today to start your journey toward a beautifully remodeled home!

Most homeowners expect their driveway to last 20 to 30 years. However, a truly well-built driveway can last 30 to 40 years. There are many reasons that cause your driveway to begin cracking and crumbling before its lifespan is up, The biggest reason is shoddy installation, followed by exceeding weight capacity, and improperly prepared foundation that has not been engineered for Oklahoma’s soil conditions. Kalan Paul, owner of LCI Concrete, has been specializing in replacing driveways since 2006. To date, he has professionally completed more than 1,200 driveways in the Tulsa metropolitan area.

DRIVEWAY

How long should your driveway last? Kalan Paul, LCI Concrete Owner, knows.

Are you considering replacing your deteriorating driveway? Is it suffering from a case of the “uglies?’ It’s a bad reflection of you and your neighborhood. If you live in Oklahoma long enough, the odds are that one day your drive is going to need a makeover. Between the freezing snow and ice that our winters generally deliver and the corrosive effects of products used to melt ice from our frozen paths of travel, your driveway is eventually going to start showing negative signs of age, corrosion, and other influences.

How Long Should A Driveway Last?

Kalan Paul and LCI Concrete specialize in the replacement of concrete driveways that have, for one reason or another, a case of the “uglies”. “We use only the finest and strengthening materials available for any project we do,” said Kalan. “When only the finest materials are used in properly preparing the ground through the laying and curing of the concrete, we expect the finished product to serve you well for at least 30-40 years.” LCI performs driveway replacements throughout northeastern Oklahoma communities including Tulsa, Bixby, Jenks, Coweta, Sapulpa, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Collinsville, Oologah, and Catoosa.

How do I Choose a Driveway Replacement Company?

LCI’s ultimate goal is a satisfied customer and outstanding workmanship in each job they tackle. When you’re considering replacing a driveway or other concrete areas of your home or business properties, make sure you know the people you’re asking for estimates. Get a quote in writing that itemizes all work to be done and specifications of the products and materials they will use in completing the work.

Kalan Paul has installed hundreds of driveways in the Tulsa metro area. Value News Magazine & Values, Inc. photo, 2024.

REPLACEMENTS That Are Built To Last

Ask to see verification of the individual’s or company’s general liability. It’s always good to deal with companies you know or those who have been in business in our area for at least a year. Don’t be duped by an imposter claiming to be in the homeimprovement business. Ask for credentials and references before you commit.

Any reputable business will be able to provide you with proof of their credentials. It’s also important to ask for references for projects the company has done that were like yo urs. It’s unwise to solely trust online reviews…personally reach out to the home or business owners references and then visit the properties to see some finished projects.

The LCI Difference

LCI Concrete has served the Tulsa Metro area for over 18 years, and they have a list of more than 1,200 driveways available for your viewing.

“Steel rebar is critical for strengthening concrete work ,” says Kalan. “Make sure it is part of the fabrication process and specified in the total cost estimate before you sign a contract.” Replacing a tired, unsightly driveway is not inexpensive. But, with its life expectancy when done professionally, it can be a great investment adding value to your home or business.

ROGERS COUNTY TRAINING CENTER (RCTC) Empowering Lives

In Claremore lies a beacon of hope and empowerment for individuals with intellectual disabilities—Rogers County Training Center (RCTC), a subsidiary of Home of Hope. RCTC stands as a testament to the potential within everyone, irrespective of the challenges they face. With their job training and support framework, RCTC has transformed lives, fostering independence and self-reliance among its participants.

“Some people with intellectual disabilities come into their young adult lives with the message a job is probably out of reach for them,” Home of Hope CEO, Ralph Richardson, Ph.D, said. “But when they get an opportunity to work, they are some of the hardest working people I’ve ever seen, because they value what they were told they may never have.”

RTCT Employment Opportunities

Currently, RCTC proudly employs 38 individuals through initiatives like their onsite recycling program, their resale shop born from community generosity, Centsible Spending in the heart of the Lilac District, and Claremore’s Metropolitan Environmental Trust (MET) location on Ramm Road.

In a recent stride towards inclusivity and community interaction, RCTC proudly announced the opening of a new distribution drop-off site at its facility. The drop-off site offers clients a platform to engage with the public, fostering social interactions and building confidence. Such opportunities are invaluable, as they align with RCTC’s overarching goal of

for Those with Intellectual Disabilities Through Work Placement

integrating its participants into the societal fabric, acknowledging their capabilities and contributions.

“The opening of RCTC’s on-site distribution center allows our clients more interaction with the public, and gives the public a chance to get a visual of what is actually going on here,” Rick Davis, RCTC’s Vocational Service Director, said.

Comprehensive Workforce Training

While RCTC prides itself on employing clients through its recycling and resale initiatives, the true essence of RCTC lies in its commitment to providing comprehensive workforce training and placement for individuals with intellectual disabilities. These programs are designed not just to offer employment but to equip RCTC’s clients with the skills, confidence, and experience needed to thrive in the broader workforce. This is where the community’s role becomes pivotal. Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to consider partnering with RCTC for job placements, opening doors to meaningful employment opportunities for these capable individuals. By integrating RCTC clients into various work environments, the community can play a transformative role in fostering inclusivity, diversity, and empowerment in the workplace.

“Many times people focus on the disability and lose sight of what these people can do,” Davis said, with Richardson adding, “The desire to work and to prove they can do well, it sometimes surprises people.

RCTC Golf Tournament

A notable highlight in RCTC’s calendar is the annual RCTC Golf Tournament, a tradition that recently celebrated its 39th iteration. Thanks to the unwavering support and dedication of local volunteers and organizations like BancFirst, the tournament has grown into a significant fundraiser for the center. As we look forward to the 40th tournament next year, RCTC invites new sponsors, promising not only a day of sport and camaraderie but the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of many.

Making Dreams a Reality

When contemplating where to make donations or deciding on a recycling option, remember the Rogers County Training Center (RCTC) as a prime choice. For employers keen on fostering an inclusive workplace, by reaching out to RCTC, businesses can access a pool of dedicated, trained individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to their workforce. The recent establishment of a new drop off distribution center at RCTC, located conveniently at its backside, can significantly contribute to the success of this initiative. Your involvement enhances the center’s ability to provide valuable interactions and services to its clients and the wider community.

“That’s the dream — for the clients that we serve to work out in the community and in other settings,” Richardson said.

ROCK, GEM, JEWELRY Show MINERAL &

Tulsa’s Rock, Gem, Mineral, and Jewelry Show set for July 13-14

Are you ready for an adventure that rocks? The Annual Rock, Gem, Mineral, and Jewelry Show, set to impress at the Exchange Center at Expo Square, Tulsa, invites enthusiasts, curious minds, and little hands to explore the fascinating world beneath our feet. Scheduled for Saturday, July 13 from 9 AM to 6 PM, and Sunday, July 14 from 10 AM to 5 PM, this event promises an exciting array of activities, displays, and learning opportunities for all ages.

What to Expect at The Show

Vendors With Treasures

“The enthusiasm these people have about the field is really infectious,” Eric Hamshar, Director at D.W. Correll Museum, said of the over 30 dealers expected to sell and display their wares at this year’s show. These dealers, from Oklahoma and all over the country, bring a treasure trove of gems, minerals, fossils, and handcrafted jewelry. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a budding geologist, the variety and quality on display will spark wonder and inspiration. One highlight is the fluorescent display room where under UV lights, rocks and minerals reveal their hidden vibrant colors—a truly glowing spectacle!

Fascinating Exhibits

“The Ice Age bones discovered out of the Arkansas Rivers are always a cool display,” Hamshar said. “You’ll see local discoveries but also from all over the world.”

Get a first person view of the art of lapidary in working exhibits where you can learn to cut and polish rocks. Witness the fascinating processes of gem faceting and wire wrapping, or see how tumblers clean and refine rough stones. For those

intrigued by the beads’ art, the Oklahoma Bead Society will showcase bead stringing techniques and offer lessons to attendees.

Kid Zone

The show is a family affair with plenty of activities tailored for young learners. The Kid Zone offers hands-on activities like making fossil casts and exploring touch and feel tables filled with a variety of fossils and minerals. Educational displays, such as cutting geodes or geological wonders from The Elsing Museum collection at Oral Roberts University, provide a deeper

understanding of Earth’s history and beauty. “We have grab bags for sale with each holding 10 specimens to help kids get started on their own collection,” he said.

While exploring the show, visitors can sign up for the Tulsa Rock and Mineral Society, a community dedicated to promoting interest in geology. The society’s special Pebble Pups introduces children to the science behind the stones, fostering a new generation of geology enthusiasts.

“We collect specimens, have a lapidary shop to learn how to cut and polish stones, and take monthly field trips,” he said. “There’s no limit to the things you can learn.”

Door Prizes & Giveaways

The excitement continues with door prizes awarded to both adults and children every 30 minutes. Special admissions include free entry for Scouts in uniform and First Responders with ID. Adults can enjoy the show for $7 or opt for a 2-day pass at $10, with children 12 and under are

admitted free with a paid adult. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with nature, learn about the earth’s treasures, and create lasting memories with family and friends. Mark your calendar for an educational weekend at the annual Rock, Gem, Mineral, and Jewelry Show. For more information and to plan your visit, check out tulsarockandmineralsociety.org.

A GRANITE Brings Kitchens to Life & CABINETRY SOLUTIONS

Spring is in the air, and that means it’s time for some much-needed cleaning and organization. And what better place to start than with the heart of the home — the kitchen!

Your Kitchen remodel can be done within your budget by taking the time to structure your renovation plan. Your overall costs will largely depend on the size of your kitchen, types of materials and fixtures, and whether you want to change the physical space. All these things, when well planned, will help make your new kitchen a reality within your budget. You will find great value in using an experienced remodeling company and designer.

A Granite & Cabinetry Solutions, LLC, is a Tulsa based family business, who specializes in kitchen renovations. Owners Maria and Jorge Ramirez have numerous years of experience in the home remodeling industry. The company has become very popular through the years because they focus on quality and affordability. They offer a variety of remodeling options from small to large, countertops only to cabinets only, and full space makeovers. “People often think based on our office location we don’t do big jobs. We can do any custom idea our clients bring to us,” Maria Ramirez said.

Durable Materials that Add Strength & Beauty: Granite, Quartz, Marble, and Quartzite

Specializing in granite, quartz, marble, and quartzite custom countertops and cabinets — from bathroom countertops to shower benches, sinks, tables, backsplash, and more, A Granite & Cabinetry Solutions, LLC can create custom fabricated stone pieces to fit any need and lifestyle.

The company has already built an

impressive portfolio of work, with projects ranging from Grand Lake vacation homes and cabins to condos and apartments. Whether you need new construction or a remodel, A Granite & Cabinetry Solutions, LLC can deliver the custom stone pieces that clients need to make their space truly their own.

“We really walk them through the selection process. It depends on the person and the home,” Ramirez said. “Some people don’t like too much movement in the stone and want a more subtle, modern look, so we go with quartz.”

Sedona is another popular stone because of its perfect neutral pairing with any cabinet colors and style and its economic value, where quartzite is a bold, bark-like stone with a higher price per square foot.

Positive Solutions and Experience

Unlike their competitors who charge per slab, A Granite & Cabinetry Solutions, LLC charges per square foot with a 3 cm thickness. This means that clients only pay for what they need, and there are no hidden costs or fees. It’s a pricing model that has earned the company a loyal following among Tulsa and surrounding area residents. And speaking to their continued growth, the company has recently partnered with local home designer Karen Rossi. Karen brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table, and her expertise has already proven invaluable to A Granite & Cabinetry Solutions, LLC clients. With Karen’s help, clients can design their ideal kitchen from top to bottom. From backsplash to sinks, cabinets, and of course, countertops, A Granite & Cabinetry Solutions, LLC can create a custom space that perfectly matches their vision. “Karen has been designing for as long as I can remember and we are fortunate to partner with her,” Ramirez said.

Calculate the Return on Your Investment

As you proceed with your dream kitchen, remember to spend within your budget; if planning on moving spend as much as you hope to get back in the sale of your home; and if planning to stay in your home for at least five years then creating the kitchen of your dreams will be well worth the investment and time.

Are you noticing that your property’s exterior and concrete is suffering from spots, stains, mold, mildew or plain old Oklahoma dust and dirt? It’s time to wake up curb appeal with a professional power-wash or soft-wash.

Experience the difference a professional can make

Sure, you can get a hose to use or purchase a do-it-yourself system with modest results. However, when you want it done safely and correctly with maximum results it’s definitely time to consider

calling a professional. Professional power and soft washing provides thorough, deep cleaning and is worth the money when you factor in that a good cleaning can help maintain your property value while preventing/revealing damage of your home or business.

Oklahoma’s Best Power Washing company owner Devin Duncanson is an experienced power-wash professional. He specializes in helping home and business owners rid their properties of built-up grime. His system of excellence provides the right mix of power, pressure and chemical for

every job. Coincidently, he developed his own state-of-the-art trailer system that has been a game changer in the power washing world.

Specialized, eco-friendly detergents

Oklahoma’s Best Power Washing uses specialized detergents based on the surface and grime to be removed. Not only are they quick and affordable, but their power washing methods are safe and effective and pose no risk of property damage.

working for Don Edwards and Sherwin Williams, using Front 9 products, and hands-on experience during his tenure at a leading company in our area. “I use high-grade eco-friendly products and continue ongoing education to always improve my service and results. There’s a lot to understand and identify the correct compound combinations for each specific job. I like taking my time with each client and am patient and listen to understand what they need done and their expectations.”

What are some out of the ordinary power washing jobs that Devin has

encountered? “Some clients have had me power washing rugs, lawn tools, outdoor patio furniture, even a interior limestone fireplace.”

Power and soft washing

The company provides power and soft washing services for both residential and commercial customers. They will handle your home’s exterior from roof-top to driveway and everything in-between including window washing. “Our customers can always be assured that there will not be any hidden costs and will receive a clear

price before the job begins, as well as we will keep you updated from scheduling to completion because your satisfaction is our priority,” said Devin.

A good power or soft washing isn’t an extravagance when it comes to protecting your property. Are you ready to reveal the “REAL CLEAN?” Reach out to Oklahoma’s Best Power Washing for your free estimate.

Superior Overhead Door, a garage door and repair business in Broken Arrow, has been excelling in the industry since 2008. Specializing in custom doors, this company is transforming the way homeowners and commercial clients view their garage spaces.

“Garage doors take up a large percent of the face of your house,” owner Todd Willhoite said. “You can modernize the look of your home by changing the door’s appearance.”

Garage Doors That Make a Statement

The company prides itself on its ability to deliver statement pieces that don’t just fill a space but truly complement the architectural style and character of each home. With a full time woodworker on staff, clients have the opportunity to bring their unique designs to life with custom overlays. The introduction of a full glass view door, can instantly brighten a space and make it appear more expansive, adding a touch of sophistication that’s hard to overlook, a popular choice for current clients.

“If clients have a particular design in mind and we don’t have it, then we can almost always make it,” he said.

Commercial Choices

Enhancing the insulation of your garage door not only improves the energy efficiency of the space but also contributes to a more comfortable environment, which is particularly beneficial for those who use their garage as a workshop or additional living space. But Superior Overhead Door’s expertise isn’t limited to residential projects. The company also handles commercial jobs, including work on duplexes and new constructions, making it a versatile choice

SINCE 2008

for a variety of clients. Whether working with homeowners to bring their vision to life or collaborating with builders on large-scale projects, the team at Superior Overhead Door ensures that every job is executed with precision and care.

The Superior Overhead Door Difference

Recognizing the importance of timely service, the company offers quick turnaround times of 5-6 weeks for customizations and same-day repair services on most weekdays. This commitment to efficiency is just another way Superior Overhead Door stands out in its field.

One of the most reassuring aspects of choosing Superior Overhead Door is the 1-year warranty that comes with every new installation. This, coupled with the company’s reputation for quality work, reasonable pricing, and superior service, makes it a reliable choice for anyone looking to enhance their property.

For those interested in exploring the possibilities, Superior Overhead Door welcomes clients to its showroom, where they can browse available materials and gather inspiration for their own projects.

“Not all garage doors are the same, which means not all spaces are the same,” he said on Superiors’ free estimate service,

aiding potential customers to make informed decisions without any upfront commitment.

The glowing Google reviews speak volumes about the satisfaction of past clients, highlighting the company’s dedication to excellence over the years. If you’re considering a new garage door or in need of repairs, Superior Overhead Door is a name you can trust to deliver not just a door, but a statement piece that enhances the face of your home or commercial property.

MOSQUITO SQUAD HELPS TREAT THE SYMPTOMS AND PROBLEMS OF PESTS

Matt DeChaine and his crew are highly trained, licensed specialists who use EPA-registered products and natural remedies to solve pesky pest problems and reduce health risks associated with mosquitoes, ticks, chiggers, mites, wasps, hornets, scorpions, ants, no-see-ums, and stink bugs.

Will you be a mosquito’s next meal? Research has documented various reasons why some people are bothered more by mosquitoes than others. Factors such as how much you breathe and the carbon dioxide you

emit during activity, how much you sweat (the acids you emit draw them to you like mom’s home cooking), what you’re wearing (contrasting colors help them spot you), your blood type (type O is their favorite), and what you drink such as a beer.

Severe Health Risks

Mosquito-borne diseases take the lives

of over a million people a year. The severe health risks associated with mosquito bites include Zika, West Nile virus, Malaria, and other vector-borne diseases; as well as Lyme disease spread by ticks. Mosquito Squad of Tulsa combines specialized equipment with a proprietary blend registered by the Environmental Protection

Matt DeChaine aims to inform as many people as possible in Tulsa about mosquito prevention so that they can enjoy their outdoor living spaces year round. “I don’t like being pestered by insects any more than anyone else, so I want to help others avoid that irritation as much as possible!” Value News Magazine & Values, Inc. photo, 2024.

Agency that meets local and federal regulations to create their traditional barrier treatment while offering clients natural treatment options. “Our natural repellent is applied by trained technicians according to product label guidelines. Remarkably, its efficacy can extend up to 21 days, offering long-lasting peace of mind,” Matt expressed. With an entomologist on-staff, Mosquito Squad of Tulsa also uses a comprehensive strategy that not only addresses current pest issues and stays

ahead of potential outbreaks by staying up-to-date on pest control news.

Mosquito Squad’s Approach

Mosquito Squad’s approach to transparency and trust-building involves using body cameras by their technicians during service visits. This practice ensures that customers are always in the loop, providing a clear view of the treatments and procedures in their yards. This transparency shows their commitment to highquality service and empowers customers with knowledge about the safety and effectiveness of the treatments applied.

“We want to be known as the best at what we do, which encourages us to hold ourselves to a high standard,” DeChaine said.

Mosquito Squad of Tulsa’s dedication to community safety and innovative approach sets them apart in pest control. By following their advice and considering their professional services, you can enjoy your

outdoor spaces with peace of mind.

To complement their professional services, Mosquito Squad of Tulsa’s team of highly trained technicians offers invaluable advice to the community to help minimize the risk of mosquito infestation.

Pest Packages Available

In addition to mosquitoes, Mosquito Squad protects homes from nearly all other outdoor pests through add-on services called Pest Packages. At Mosquito Squad, our professional technicians and managers understand the most essential part of providing excellent pest control is understanding the problem. We will consistently help deliver effective interventions through extensive training, continuing education, and a commitment to inspection and transparent communication. Because Mosquito Squad is at your home every 21 days during the peak of pest pressure, we can provide prescriptive and proactive services. Where other companies only show up every 60-90 days, we believe being present frequently makes us the experts in YOUR home’s specific pest needs. WILD BREW 2024 CHEERS TO BEERS AND 40 YEARS OF THE SUTTON CENTER

FLOCK TOGETHER AGAIN at WILD BREW, Oklahoma’s longest-running craft beer and restaurant festival, on SATURDAY, AUGUST 24, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cox Business Convention Center!

Wild Brew is a one-of-a-kind indoor event that combines first-rate beers created by artisan brewers from Oklahoma and around the world with cuisine from Tulsa’s best restaurants.

The annual event benefits the George Miksch Sutton Avian Research Center, a local, internationally-recognized, nonprofit wildlife conservation organization best known for its work with bald eagles.

Less than 20 years ago, Bald Eagles were on the endangered species list. Now, they are a regular part of our Oklahoma skyline.

And this year, the Sutton Center is celebrating its 40th Anniversary, thanks to the many loyal supporters throughout the years and the thousands of past Wild Brew attendees!

Proceeds from the event allow the Sutton Center to continue conservation education outreach, as well as support its current recovery efforts for two of the rarest birds in North America –the Attwater’s Prairie-Chicken and the Masked Bobwhite, both endangered species.

Wild Brew 2024 will feature hundreds of beers and the unique opportunity for guests to chat with brewers one-on-one. In addition to the beer, several local wineries, distilleries and artisans creating elaborate, non-alcoholic beverages will be there to offer tastings, as well.

Live music, demonstrations from local artists, party photobooths and the many silent auction items up for bidding wars will keep the party hopping! And don’t forget the meet and greet with some of our special feathered friends from the Sutton Center.

While a Wild Brew General Admission ticket allows allinclusive access to hundreds of beers and delicious samplings from dozens of local restaurants from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Patron Level ticketholders can get a head start and begin sipping at 4 p.m. during Patron Hour.

For Sponsorship opportunities and to purchase tickets, visit www.wildbrew.org.
