Psalm 23
A Psalm of David
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
For his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
Through the darkest valley, [a]
I will fear no evil,
For you are with me.
Your rod and your staff, They comfort me.
Your rod and your staff, They comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
In the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil
My cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
All the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever
REMEMBER ME
Don’t remember me with sadness, Don’t remember me with tears,
Remember all the laughter, We’ve shared throughout the years, Now I am contented
That my life it was worthwhile,
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile, When you are walking down the street
And you’ve got me on your mind
I’m walking in your footsteps
Only half a step behind.
So please don’t be unhappy
Just because I’m out of sight, Remember that I’m with you
Each morning, noon and night.

His Life ▪ His Love ▪ His Legacy
Earl Essex (Kidd) Stamps, a well-known man with a caring spirit, was born the oldest child of the late Anthony Stamps and the late Virgie Mae Johnson Stamps on August 23, 1928, in Batesville, MS. His brother (Versie Stamps) and sister (Minnie Rene Johnson) preceded him in death.
Despite not attending high school, Earl was a highly intelligent man. He began his education in Panola County, MS at Macedonia School. He was a problem-solver who took on difficult tasks on jobs and around the community.
At an early age, Earl confessed a belief in Christ at Concord Missionary Baptist Church. In 1949, he met the love of his life, Mattie Pearl Hall, and they were united in marriage in 1951. From this union, four daughters were born. Earl was a devoted husband and father who put the interest of his family and church first. He made sure that his family was given the best by providing a home environment with love, respect, comfort and spiritual nourishment. For many years, he served as a deacon of Concord Missionary Baptist Church. He never forgot the church even when his health began to fail and he moved to Memphis, Tennessee with his daughter. Many times, he would say, “I just want to help people,” and that’s exactly what he did. Within the community, Earl “Kidd” Stamps was the “go-to person” for many individuals.
Earl was a farmer most of his life and worked on different farms, but his most memorable experience was working for Edward and Lamar Thomas. Besides being a farmer, he served as an agent for Delta Burial Corporation for more than twenty (20) years throughout the Concord and Macedonia community. He was employed by South Panola School District and the Batesville Job Corps Center.
Earl leaves to cherish his memories, four daughters: Sharone Powell, Gloria (Jack) Smith, Nancy (Curtis) Weathers, and Bonnie (Aaron) Dean. He also leaves his nephew, William Levell Johnson (Angela), who he raised as his own son; seven grandchildren: Kejen, Sr. (Jennifer), Rochelle, Christopher, Ashley (Casey), Cameron, Caylon and Joi and four great-grandchildren: Kejen, Jr., Dylan, Peyton and Ryan, and a host of nieces and nephews. Great memories of laughter, joy and love will be cherished forever by his children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Earl Essex Stamps touched many lives and was loved by many.

DADDY
God saw you getting tired A cure was not to be, So, he put his arms around you And whispered, “Come with me.” With tearful eyes we watched you And saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly We could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating Your tender hands at rest, God took you home to prove to us He only takes the best. We love you for being the best dad ever. We will miss you dearly.
GRANDDADDY
We thought of you today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday and days before that too. Your memory is a keepsake from which we’ll never part. God has you in His arms, we have you in our hearts. We love you for being the best granddaddy ever. We will miss you dearly.
