V-Aye

Creative, inspiring, authentic, and beyond the norm are just a few words that describe artist V-Aye, given by those who love her music.
V-Aye, ne' Vanessa Abron, was born and raised in Chicago. Through the influence of growing up in a household always filled with music, V-Aye was interested in the art form from an early start. Her mom and dad were avid music listeners from the Motown and P-Funk eras, and her older brother exposed her to hip-hop, house music, and alternative/classic rock during her formative years.
As a student of the arts, Vanessa studied several disciplines, including piano, various forms of dance, visual arts, theatre, writing, and voice, to name to few.
“As a kid, I was shy, but I remember one of my favorite pastimes was using my living room floor as my stage and performing to my dolls and stuffed animals who spectated from the sofa,” V-Aye recalls. “Regardless if it was the Temptations, Michael Jackson, The Roots, TLC, EnVogue, Madonna, Common, Snoop Dogg, or Kanye, I got inspiration from all over. But it’s weird because I never thought I would actually perform in front of a live audience because I was so shy. Performing as a group in a choir or dance ensemble, which I’m used to doing, is one thing. Being a solo featured act is another ball game. I guess my subconscious was preparing me for this moment,” she added.
Shyness aside, V-Aye seems to have captured the attention of a few.
“I like her energetic, innovative, creative, and spontaneous approach,” said one supporter. “She seems fearless in her willingness to approach any topic, yet her directness comes with empathy and a keen awareness of how to strike the right note,” the individual added.
Another noted, “V-Aye seems to have a gift for improvisation. She has a deft intuitive ability to connect with others and with groups of people. It's my opinion that the only reason she comes across effortlessly and with such joy and lightness in her creative expressions and exchange with others is that it's genuinely who she is at her core.”
V-Aye’s debut EP, Ctrl Alt Delete, is actually the spawn of supporters asking, “so when are you going to drop something?” Through this project, V-Aye explores internal recreation, personal evolution, external perceptions and explores the various layers and multiple dimensions of all human beings.
“We all know to use Ctrl, Alt, Delete on computers when we need to do a hard re-boot on our devices,” stated V-Aye. “But in all honesty, don’t we all need to hit Ctrl Alt Delete on our lives and with our relationships with others? With this project, we are framing the concept of Ctrl, Alt, Delete to equate to “take control, alter when necessary, and delete what no longer serves you.”
V-Aye’s audience is hard to define. Supporters have ranged from Gen X to Gen Z, crossing various racial backgrounds and geographic areas. However, one could say that the profile of a V-Aye fan is defined more on psychographic parameters versus demographic standards. Instead of being defined by age, race, economic status, educational attainment, gender, or marital status, V-Aye’s audience comprises those not confined to following generic formulas. They are idealists, dreamers, and imaginative. They are looking for an experience when they listen to music.
V-Aye’s album “Ctrl Alt Delete” was released on Oct. 21, 2022. The album covers the highs and lows of V-Aye’s life while also explaining how she was able to evolve into the best version of herself. V-Aye tells her story in the album to inspire others who can relate. After listening to this album, V-Aye wants her audience to know that it’s never too late to start over and present the best version of themselves, letting go of anything holding them back and just being themselves. Ctrl Alt Delete is bigger than just your typical album. V-Aye wants others to learn from this album and apply the saying “Ctrl Alt Delete” to their own lives and share it with others.
Although Ctrl Alt Delete is an inspiring album, listeners can expect even more from it. Every song on this album has catchy bars and beats. You could listen to it during a quick workout, for a little morning motivation, or even while relaxing and hanging with friends. Listeners will love this album because everyone will enjoy it and can probably relate to it.

This album reminds me of old-school hip-hop. As a hip-hop fan, that’s the best part for me.

I love that the lyrics strike the right balance between audacious and infectious. The music perfectly fits each song and isn't a distraction. But what I love most is that Vanessa doesn't hold back and performs each song like a true veteran.
