FUTURE HOMEOWNERS Ten years ago we made the EPIC decision to leave NYC with our two young children. We wanted a town with a direct train from Manhattan so that we could be home in time to have family dinners & tuck the kids into bed. We spent countless weekends taking the train to NJ looking at homes. Maplewood was the place we started looking in and the one we ultimately ended up falling in love with. We were seeking a small town community in NJ that offered all the services and amenities a family could wish for. Homes with charm and character, and a town that was the perfect size with unique shops and fantastic restaurants. We found that Maplewood Village and the community as a whole just felt right! When we first stepped into our home, it totally vibed with us. Over the years we have done our own renovations, made some tweaks, and a lot of gardening out front and in our majestic backyard. The love and care that we have put into this home was 100% genuine and we hope you feel it when you step into it. Most important of all, we met our best friends and their family right down the street. Our kids are the exact same age and have grown up with each other every day for the past decade. The hardest part of the decision to move was leaving our neighborhood. It’s literally the best neighborhood ever! The kids walk to school together every morning in a walking group organized by parents, and after a fun day at school they all meet up in front of school and walk back home. How adorable is that?! They spend countless hours playing with friends in the reservation, hiking to the waterfalls, and riding bikes until the sun sets. From the awesome block parties, to the backyard BBQs and the impromptu gatherings on our front stoop - this house and location are special and will always have a place in our hearts. The presence of the early Lenape Indians lingers in the name given to the Watchung—the "high hills."
