DEAR FUTURE HOMEOWNER We have a very clear memory of being where you are right now. Anxiously looking for the “perfect” house for our family. A picture in our mind. When we found this special home on a street that we drove up and down for 7 years prior, marveling at it’s beauty we dreamed about living on the street and in the Maplewood neighborhood. When we found this home, I wouldn’t say that we found our dream home. What we found was a home with great bones, an original owner and a 92 year old man who took pride and joy in the home that he built for his family of four. It had not been decorated since it was built in 1952 but we knew that two loving parents raised four children and you could hear the love and laughter in the walls when you walked in. I will never forget the day that we sat in the kitchen with the realtor, envisioning what we could make this house look like to raise our two small children. Fast forward 7 weeks and we had moved into a neighborhood and street that was our dream and we were ready to make the home turn into our dream home. For eight months we lived in the house on aero-beds with our two small children undergoing a project of a lifetime. We poured our blood, sweat and tears into the re-construction of this home making it just right for our family to create memories filled with lots of love, laughter and many a happily ever after. There is a great sense of community here in Maplewood and our neighbors have become our wonderful friends. We will miss the days running from one neighbor to the next borrowing cheese, salsa, paper towels and hearing the doorbell ring with some interesting asks for missing ingredients for weekday dinners. We’ve enjoyed walks into town as a family and racing up the hill after a full dinner timing how long it will take from town to the front door (we’ve made it in ten minutes). We’ve taken great pride in caring for this house and nurturing our now tween son and daughter as well as entertaining their friends here. It’s time for us to take a leap of faith and trust that all of the hard work that we put into in updating and building this home from nuts to bolts was not just for us but for you.
