Before words we had symbols. Today, we continue to use symbols in the form of stylized images or non-representational marks to convey meaning and anecdotes. As part of the global project Forty Five Symbols, individual messages are visualized about transforming gender, shifting cities, and a changing world.
Energy is an elemental component in our life. For years, we have been relying on limited natural resources to fulfill our needs for energy. We only have an average of 70 years left of nonrenewable resources. This project uses electronic circuit diagrams to create a series of symbols that define aspects of the crisis and its subsequent decay and devastation to our natural resources. The varied weight of the lines show the degradation of our planet and how it is being destroyed by humans. The circles serve as a foundation for the almost incomplete lines. This project was selected to be published on the Forty Five Symbols website in Spring of 2016.
