This year it is 125 years ago that Vincent Van Gogh died. To honour the world famous painter and to show that he still inspires many, a joint effort of Holland, Belgium and France created a great cultural experience. Tilburg: Taking art classes at Vincent’s art school
Van Gogh’s art school Tilburg (Van Gogh Brabant) When Vincent is just 13 years old he was sent to boarding school in Tilburg. Here he gets his first drawing classes. Today you can visit his former class room ’modern style’. Of course you can experience how his classes took place back in 1866, but afterwards you have to start drawing yourself in the digital classroom.
EttenLeur: Church of Van Gogh After his failures to become teacher, minister and art dealer, Vincent moved back to his parents in Etten in 1881. Here he finally decides to follow his dream to become a painter. He creates his first workshop and starts sketching drawing and painting. It is the beginning of his career. The church shows Van Goghs themes of that period in 8 stained glass windows.

Vincentre Nuenen (Van Gogh Brabant) Van Gogh painted about a quarter of his entire works, among which the Potato Eaters in Nuenen. Nuenen is like an open air museum for the life of Van Gogh. Starting in the Vincentre you can visit 22 places that influenced the life and works of Van Gogh. You will find several information booths where you can listen to Vincent reading from his letters.
‘s Hertogenbosch: Van Gogh’s paintings in the Noordbrabants Museum The Noordbrabants Museum in s Hertogenbosch is the only place in Brabant where you can visit the original paintings of Van Gogh in this province. The Story of Brabant exhibition shows the paintings connected to his life in Brabant.
